    Dear Apple, curb your notifications

    I'm using a dock, to which I have 3 drives connected. As far as I know, it's okay to not eject those drives each time you disconnect them. To not have 3 notifications just pop out, each time I disconnect my dock, I'm constantly in a focus mode. Is it really the only way to solve the issue? Can you mute those specific notifications somehow?

    I've been wishing for this very simple feature ever since switching to macOS, and now it's finally possible. I'm happy.

    While you still can't see your Reminders in Calendar, you can now at least 'time block' tasks by dragging & dropping to a certain time slot in Calendar. And if for some reason you need a calendar event in a Reminder list, you can drag & drop and it'll make a hyperlink to Calendar for you.

    Sync email signature (mac OS Montery 12.0.1 to iOS 15.1)

    Hi all,

    I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to sync an email signature created in the stock apple mail app on mac OS to the stock apple mail app on iOS. So far I don't think it's possible, can somebody prove me wrong for my own benefit?

    I know you're not supposed to use APFS on a spinning drive but I have a 6tb external I'd like to encrypt. I'm not seeing the option for MAC OS extended encrypted unless I'm just blind?

    Can't login on Twitter for macOS (running Catalina)

    Hello,

    I have been trying to login in my twitter account through the twitter.app (version 8.90.1) in my mac (macOS 10.15.7) and is rejecting my password.

    The password works correctly on my iPhone, iPad, and even on Safari for mac.

    I have tried to change password from the mac app and still have the same problem.

    Has anyone the same problem? Any suggestion?

    Is there any way to configure mac os keyboard shortcuts from the terminal?

    I'm currently working on my dotfiles repository for my mac and considering to add some keyboard shortcut override to my install/setup script. I'm looking for something similar like the defaults command for overriding default preferences, but couldn't find anything yet.

    How to view photos?

    Hello new user to Mac, been using Windows for 25 years, and I love MacOS. It's such and amazing os.
    Alltho I can't figure out how I am supposed to view photos. In windows you can just highlight the file and then hit enter key.
    But when I do that on MacOS it prompts me to change the name of the photo instead of opening it, forcing me to double click the mouse.
    Also on Windows you can go the the next and previous photo with the arrow keys, but I can't do that with Mac, I need instead to close the preview window and open an new one for the next photo, and of course I do that with the enter key, and it prompts me to change the name of the file.

    Question is, how are you supposed to view photos?

    Photos from iPhotos doesn't show up in desktop page in system preferences

    Hi all,

    Here is some precisions:

    • As desktop background I cycled through album in iPhotos
    • One day after starting my computer my photos doesn't show up but it's the base Catalina wallpaper
    • When in desktop preferences, I can see photos that are on my disk in various folder but those in my iPhoto library (I can see less than ten out of hundreds)
    • I'm running MacOsCatalina (10.15.7) on a 13" MBP mid-2012

    Does anyone have had this issue ? I couldn't find anything related to it.

    Hi is there anyone that can more or less make a comparison between the performance of a MacBook Air m1 before and after installing Monterey?

    How is the heat dissipation after the upgrade? Since this Mac doesn't have a vent I don't want to upgrade and find out I can cook on the back of my pc (I'm just paranoid probably)

    Anyone else with Wi-Fi issues?

    Since I've updated to macOS Monterey, my 2020 MacBook Pro has issues with its Wi-Fi connection regularly. It seems to happen every time the MacBook wakes up from a long time in sleep mode. There are no websites loading in any browser, Mail's not refreshing and yesterday I noticed that I can't even connect to a server in my local network.

    Does anyone else have this kind of problem or is able to provide a fix?

    Hey all.

    I mostly use my Macbook's function keys to control play/pause, volume up/down etc. When I'm in Photoshop, I want to use these keys as regular function keys. Is it possible to have the function key functionality change on a per-app basis? Thanks for any tips!

    Update: I have found Fluor which does this exact thing :)

    MacOS Catalina 144hz options in EasyRes and SwitchresX - LG38WN95C-W

    I'm a noob and hoping somebody can explain/point me in the right direction. I am running a Hackintosh (macOS Catalina) with the LG 38WN95C-W (3840 x 1600 resolution). I'm using Displayport but unsure of the version.

    In trying both EasyRes (see screenshot) and SwitchresX, i've noticed 144hz is not available in all of the retina modes. here's my experience:

    3840 x 1600 - @ 144hz = Everything buttery smooth but text looks blocky

    3008 x 800 @ 75hz = This preset is my preferred in terms of UI Scalebut not available @ 144hz??

    1920 x 800 @ 75hz = Text is really sharp but scale of UI elements wayyyyy too zoomed in for daily use.

    3840x1600 @ 144hz in Windows & Linux = Sharp and buttery!!!!

    Is anyone able to explain why 144hz is not available in all of the options? I'm not sure if it's a weird MacOS retina thing, or potentially hardware (DP Cable)?

    Parallels display resolution limit?

    I'm running a MacOS Monterray guest OS on a MacOS Monterray Host but the guest OS resolution is only 1440x900 and Display settings have no other options. In Parallels Control Center there is no gear icon next to the MacOS as there is for Ubuntu.

    Is there any way to raise display resolution to 1440p or even 2160p? I have a 2021 Mac Mini M1 with 16gb ram.

    Printer never gets passed the first item in the queue despite printing it successfully?

    So I just got a Brother QL1110NWB thermal label printer. So i printed a 4x6 shipping label and it printed successfully wirelessly, but once it finished the item stayed in the queue saying waiting for job to finish. thus it never ends up printing the next labels until i go in and clear them as they complete manually.
