Screen mirroring or airplay for streaming off of phone

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 02:37 AM PST

So I'm wanting to watch live sports via a stream on my tv from my phone. When I screen mirror from my iPhone it plays the stream, however, if I select full screen on the media player from my phone, my tv will display the home mirroring screen. Would buying an Apple TV device and air playing from my phone to the device solve this issue? The TV is an LG smart tv.

    Does Netflix HATE Apple TV?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 12:41 AM PST

Heyy, so I have noticed over the pas few months that Netflix does not update their Apple TV app. Like for example, on other TVs and Streaming Boxes like Roku & Samsung Smart TVs, they have their new "Watch something" shuffle feature, and in the sidebar, they recently added "categories". Why do they never add these to the Apple TV app? So weird...

LOTR- Anybody know the difference between the two bundles for Lord of the Rings (6 films extended)? One is $44 and the other $89. They are both in 4K. Not sure why one is more then other.

Strange functionality with new TV and Apple TV through hdmi switch

    Posted: 29 Nov 2021 11:34 PM PST

I've been enjoying my Apple TV HD, however since I got a new 4K TV (Vizio M7 Quantum 2021 70"), I've noticed something strange.

I have my console and Apple TV connected to an HDMI switch in a closet, all connected to my TV via HDMI cable in the wall. This setup worked fine with my old dumb TV and I could switch inputs on the HDMI switch with no problems.

With the new TV, I get the following behavior:

    1. I turn on the TV with thr HDMI switch input coming from my Apple TV (input 1 on switch), works fine
    2. change hdmi switch to input 2 (Xbox one), works fine
    3. change hdmi switch back to input 1 (Apple TV), tv gets no signal even though the Apple TV should still be on. Even if I press the TV button on the Siri remote to turn on the Apple TV again, nothing happens.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Could it be the hdmi switch?

Why is the Siri search feature broken across the device?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2021 10:09 PM PST

No matter what app if I go to the search menu and I use Siri I hold down the button I speak it brings up the search results and as soon as I let go of the button it reverts to the previous search and automatically makes the new search results disappear I thought at first it was just the YouTube app but no it's across the whole system in the iTunes Store my movie collection etc. why is this happening is there is something they're working on to fix? Or am I not searching correctly?

Apple TV spinning wheel when booting. Never recovers.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2021 07:26 PM PST

    Hey everyone,

I've looked and tried everything I could before posting here, but I'm not sure what else to do.

I have an Apple TV 4K, and it will not boot up fully. We've had it for around a year and it works until today. I haven't done anything crazy to it, no jail breaking or anything.

When it boots up, I get a spinning bunch of dots, and that's it. Reboot, spinning dots. Unplug, plug in, spinning dots.

I tried rebooting using the Siri remote by holding menu and screen buttons, that didn't work. When I use my Logitech remote and selected reboot, it rebooted. Not sure why the supplied remote didn't work.

Anyhow, I followed Apple's steps to resolve it:

I unplugged it from power for around 30 seconds

I reseated the hdmi cable into both it and the receiver it's been connected to for the past year.

Still just spinning dots… is there any saving it? I mean it's barely a year old at this point.

    AMC+ pricing vs Apple pricing

    Posted: 29 Nov 2021 01:42 PM PST

AMC+ is offering $1.99 for 12 months right now. But if I want to sign up through Apple, I just get the 7 day free trial then $8.99 per month.

Is there anyway to get the better offer so the AMC+ shows will appear in my "Up Next" shelf?

    Apple TV4k with 4k TV and Netlifx/Plex

    Posted: 29 Nov 2021 11:38 AM PST

I am about to buy a 4k tv and currently have an old (none 4k) tv with apples HD tv.

I had a couple of questions. I don't want to use my new smart tv's capabilities because of privacy issues, therefore:

    1. If i try to stream netflix 4k to my new 4k tv through just the apple HD tv box that i already own, will it be in 4k or do i actually need the apple tv box to be 4k too

    2. Does the same apply to plex and stuff that is sitting on my home media server? I.e if i have 4k media files on my NAS drive, will they play as 4k through my new 4k tv or do i need the 4k apple tv box too instead of my existing apple hd tv.

To be clear, i will be totally bypassing the OS of my new tv and not even connecting it to the internet. The smart capability of my new 4k tv will come solely from my apple tv box.

    Many thanks.
