How to disable/adjust mouse scrolling acceleration? Posted: 23 Aug 2021 01:46 AM PDT Hello, I recently purchased a mac mini m1, and I am using a 3rd party mouse called corsair harpoon pro. But I am facing a mouse scroll acceleration issue, and it's not smooth and weird! I can't control the scroll wheel. It's very rough! Is there any way to fix it? [link] [comments]

Reduce White Point On MacOS Big Sur Posted: 22 Aug 2021 04:14 PM PDT Hi, I just recently switched to the MacOS ecosystem. I used the Gamma Panel on Windows10 for reducing white point/gamma. The built-in calibration tool on the Mac is not helpful in this case. Is there any app I can use to directly adjust the gamma ray or white point on MacOS Big Sur? [link] [comments]
Should I go for a 1440p or a 4K external display? Posted: 22 Aug 2021 03:02 AM PDT Hey there, I'm looking to buy a 27" external monitor and also an M1 MacBook Air (This will be my 1st Mac). I wanted to ask if 1440p was fine with macOS because I read online about people complaining about how it makes their Mac run hotter than a 4k display. I also read that it's just 5K downscaled to 1440p making the machine run harder for no reason. Apparently, there are also scaling issues with the text and UI being too small on 4K 27" and too big on 1440p 27". The displays I'm talking about are the LG 27QN880-B (1440p 27") and the LG 27UN880-B (4K 27") Is this true and should I spend extra to get a 4K display or was this fixed because the posts I read were for macOS Mojave and older 2012/2013 Mac Minis? tl;dr: 1440p or 4k at 27" on an M1 Mac. Thanks :) [link] [comments]

Help my Mac isnt changing date right Posted: 22 Aug 2021 06:50 PM PDT Ok so I got this Mac it's pretty old and hasn't been used it's a hand me down. But. I can't change the year, the max it will go to is 2561 BE. Because the date is so far back and can't be changed correctly. No internet. So no updating. This Mac is running MacOS Mojave so idk what to do. Nothing online says ANYTHING. Resting isn't an option because. The screen on that Mac is broken and needs to be hooked up to a monitor. And the. Recovery assistant doesn't support mirroring to a monitor as far to my knowledge. Please help [link] [comments]

MacBook Air/Toslink Optical Cable Posted: 22 Aug 2021 05:24 PM PDT Forgive my ignorance, but what kind of adapter do you need to plug a toslink optical cable into the newest MacBook Air? If you know, could you provide a link to it? [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Aug 2021 03:28 PM PDT I'm trying to get to Big Sur by using Patched Sur and it requires 10.15.2 and I'm on 10.15 Beta. So I got out of the beta program and updated my software, but it won't update from 10.15 Beta. I then downloaded 10.15.7 and it won't install in my SSD for some reason. I search Apple's site and they say go into safe mode. Seems this install has a problem and they don't give you any clue how to fix it. It won't install in safe mode... So I was thinking I'd try older versions or 10.15. Anyone know of a version that actually works or what the problem could be with 10.15.7? [link] [comments]

M1 MacBook two external displays Posted: 22 Aug 2021 07:23 AM PDT Hello everyone. M1 Macs cannot use more than one external monitor. This seems a limitation and probably cannot/will not be updated to support this. I've seen some internet posts that using DisplayLink and a special adapter, we can use two external monitors. I have some questions: 1 - I've searched on amazon.es but can't seem to find any adapters that mention in the description that the adapter will work for that setup. What kind of query should I use to show the compatible adapters? 2 - Using this DisplayLink "feature" would increase the M1 processing, that is, will it had more load to the computer that will be noticeable will programming (Android apps)? 3 - I also have an Intel MacBook Pro (2016). Can I somehow use it, so this Mac be an external display? I've opened the Sidecar app but it seems it's only for iPad and MacBook connection. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Advice on library reconstruction Posted: 22 Aug 2021 12:05 PM PDT I've got an upcoming project in reconstructing my entire music library and I'm looking for some advice on the best setup. Here's a short explanation: current library file is corrupt and I cant find a backup with a non-corrupted version. Don't worry about that too much though, Ive accepted my fate and the library could use some organization anyway. Here's my setup: I've got a rMBP, MBA, and two Mac minis. Mac mini A is a headless setup at the house and is always on. I use that as a Plex server. Currently, my music library is on my rMBP because its portable, I have plenty of space on it, and it preceded the MBA. I'm wondering what the drawbacks and benefits would be if I set up the library on the Mac mini that I use as a Plex server. It would be a pain in the ass to sync devices because the machine is in a cabinet and I hate sync over wifi with a passion. But is there a way I could I set it up so I have access to the full library from all my devices while within the home network? What about outside it? Can I do this with all Apple products or would I have to use a third-party app? I'm not a huge fan of Plex as a music player, that's why I haven't given that idea much thought. Thanks and sorry for rambling! [link] [comments]
Background Resetting (Big Sur) Posted: 22 Aug 2021 08:15 AM PDT I recently (finally) upgraded to Big Sur and set a custom desktop background. For some reason it keeps resetting. The weird thing is I have multiple desktops and sometimes it resets on one desktop, sometimes on both, sometimes the login screen background stays custom and sometimes not. Seems very random. Is there some known cause of this? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
