What's the likelihood of the iPhone 13 getting 6GB RAM on the base model? Posted: 31 Jul 2021 11:42 AM PDT Given how the iPhone XS, iPhone 11 series and iPhone 12 base have all had 4GB of RAM for a long time, would this be the year when all models get at least 6GB of RAM? Or would Apple just continue with 4GB in non-pro models for the foreseeable future? I'm holding on to iPhone X and apps tend to refresh when I have many apps open in the background. What’s the actual screen size of an iPhone 12 Pro Max in 16:9 aspect ratio? Posted: 31 Jul 2021 12:57 PM PDT So I have this question because I'm looking for a 16:9 phone to play Xbox and PS games. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, but I would like to know if the 16:9 size is bigger or smaller than a Galaxy Note 4/5 or a Razer 2, which are 16:9, 5.7" screen size. There's a formula, but I don't understand it too much. [link] [comments]
Will there be a hard limit to mobile phone performance based on thermal limits? Posted: 31 Jul 2021 02:56 PM PDT Is there a theoretical limit to mobile performance due to heat? A mobile cannot be too hot to hold and they are always trying to be thin and light. It often seemed cliche to hear "this is our fastest MacBook/iPhone/iPad ever". But it feels like there will come a time when we reach a limit based on thermal efficiency. A hard limit based on the size of the device. Thin and light laptops would encounter this too. Although potentially you could hook water cooling up when on a desk. And then it will just be about optimizing the software. In 100 years, will they still be saying: it's our most powerful yet. Seems unlikely. It's interesting to think how you will get people to buy new phones/laptops every year when you can't add more performance. [link] [comments]
