Everything in its right place. A Medium Sized List of Games with Tiles Posted: 10 Aug 2021 08:16 PM PDT I've been haunting /r/boardgames a lot lately, amazed at the culture that surrounds the world of tabletop and board gaming even though I'm exclusively an iOS gamer these days (thank you children...). I'm always eager to find games that can be enjoyed solo and enjoy working through some of the (overly) complicated mechanics, often marveling at the balance and system designs!! Well I came away with several types of game "engines," as it were and thought I'd share some of the content I found discussed at length. This will be the first of a few lists I've gathered around board games. I'm sure most of you are familiar of many of these, but I was delighted to discover a few I had never heard of before. So, a Eurogame, also called a German-style board game, German game, or Euro-style game, is a class of tabletop games that generally has indirect player interaction and abstract physical components. Stewart Woods' Eurogames cites six examples of mechanics common to eurogames: Tile Placement – spatial placement of game components on the playing board. Auctions – includes open and hidden auctions of both resources and actions from other players and the game system itself. Trading/Negotiation – not simply trading resources of equivalent values, but allowing players to set markets. Set Collection – collecting resources in specific groups that are then cashed in for points or other currency. Area Control – also known as area majority or influence, this involves controlling a game element or board space through allocation of resources. Worker Placement or Role Selection – players choose specific game actions in sequential order, with players disallowed from choosing a previously selected action. Today we are gonna be looking at Tile placement games available on iOS, though not all are going to feel the same as Carcassonne in context but all land in the realm of having to play tiles, cards or chits to either dominate your opponents or earn some kind of prestige points by altering or affecting the board in some way. I hope this helps. Enjoy! iOS games available on M1 macOS? Posted: 10 Aug 2021 07:25 PM PDT Looking for some games that will let me continue my progress no matter what system I am using. Especially looking for some crunchy games to sink my teeth in like FF Tactics or something similar with substance. [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Aug 2021 10:51 AM PDT Hello, From all the games you have played on mobile/tablet, what did you enjoy the most from those experiences? Was it story-driven? what theme did it have? What genre? And what made you like the game? I see a lot of people with different tastes in this subreddit, and would be interested in hearing why you like playing what you play, and what would be your dream game. [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Aug 2021 10:32 AM PDT What I love about handhelds like the 3DS or the Switch is that I can put them on standby any time I want and resume whenever I want at the exact moment within the game once I get to pick it up again. On my iPhone (SE 2020) I can leave the game any time I want by pressing the home button but it seems kinda random if the game resumes at the exact state or if it will start from the beginning with the whole Apple Arcade logo and everything once I get to play again. I think I have experienced that Grindstone for example, even if the game starts over after standby, seems to have made some kind of quick-save and lets me resume at the same spot but with other games I had lost some progress. Not knowing what happens if it may take some time to pick the game up again prevents me from really diving into deeper/more demanding games. What are your experiences with resuming after standby and do you have any tips for me? Maybe what the time limit is until I have to open the game up again? Maybe it has to do with how much other apps I have opened and the ram these apps need (although I don't normally have other apps open when I play, so that shouldn't be the issue). Minecraft pe draining battery on lowest settings Posted: 10 Aug 2021 03:38 PM PDT Hello everyone. So recently I have been playing a lot of Minecraft of my iPhone and am noticing heavy drainage to the battery. Even on playing on the lowest settings (turning everything off and lowest rendering) it still drains the battery quickly. Is this normal for you guys? I know that Minecraft is a intense game for the battery but I wanted to know if you guys are experiencing this too and if there are ways to preserve the battery while playing. [link] [comments] |
