| Some apps could freeze your M1 Posted: 07 Aug 2021 08:41 AM PDT I have a Macbook Air M1. It is new and I started to install apps that I used on my old macbook. Yesterday I installed torrent client - Bitcomet. Today I turn on mac and after every 30 minutes it start to freeze and reboot. | Posted: 07 Aug 2021 01:17 PM PDT I recently upgraded to my first MacBook ever after being primarily a windows/android person my entire life. I opted for the MacBook Air m1 w/ 8gb of RAM, and so far I am pretty impressed. However I do have one slight issue, which is web browsing. Whenever I use twitter, YouTube, or any other web page with a decent amount of images it seems as though my MacBook slows way down. It feels as though the frame rate goes from a consistent 60fps to 40fps. It's not as noticeable in chrome. Is this normal? Do any other Mac users have this issue? [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 07 Aug 2021 11:27 PM PDT Hello all, So it's back to school season, and I'm interested in getting a new MacBook for school. For some background info, I have been using a 2017 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar for a pretty long time. With all that time it's been used, it's definitely been through a lot. It's keyboard has keys that do not work that efficiently (i.e my "n" key always skips, doesn't register, or sometimes puts 2 in 1 "nn"). Looking online, it seems to be that it would cost a good amount of money to repair my keyboard. That being said, I'm thinking of trading in my MacBook and my AirPods (they are the first generation) for store credit so that I can get a newer MacBook + free AirPods (with the back to school promotion). So should I trade in my 2017 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and my AirPods (first generation) for store credit and purchase a new MacBook that comes with free AirPods? (Also, I know that if I were to trade in my devices that it wouldn't cover everything but at least it could cover a small amount.) [link] [comments]  | ||

| Macbook Pro 2017: Screen Blank Issue Posted: 07 Aug 2021 01:56 PM PDT Tried to turn it on, gave the boot up sound but screen blank, plugged into power, gave the charging sound but still got the black screen. I've tried the NVRAM and the SMC reboots. The screen doesn't even flicker. It did give off light twice but did not start up, now it has stopped lighting up even. Any help, please? | Posted: 07 Aug 2021 11:24 AM PDT Hello all, I think it is finally time to update my computer, for my 2012 Mini appears to be no longer cutting it (big surprise, right?) Anyways, I am a cheap bastard who doesn't like spending a lot of money, but I was born and raised on Apple, so I don't really want to switch over to PC. Anyways, so I am looking on Amazon Warehouse which appears to have some very good deals, for they dabble in returned items and damaged packaging. So I am looking around on the deals, and it appears as I have two real options: I can either: Buy an M1 with 8gb of memory or an Intel processor with 16gb of memory. There appears to be no option for M1 with 16gb, so I am stuck choosing between the new processor or more memory. I am mainly looking for my daily driver of computers. Basic light use, maybe some gaming (but nothing excessive) I am not doing video editing or anything crazy, I just want to get a good quality computer that will last me a few years. | trouble transferring photos from cloud to macbook pro Posted: 07 Aug 2021 08:46 AM PDT i'm getting a new iphone soon and i want to start fresh. i want to start by taking all my photos off my current phone/icloud and storing them on my macbook. i can't figure out how to export everything onto the macbook while also retaining the exif data, specifically the date/time the photos were taken. i tried copy and paste from the Photos app to a "photos" folder i created on the desktop. nothings transfers over with the photos but long file names. i also can't seem to sync all the photos from my phone to the cloud/macbook photos app and then from the photos app to the photos folder (ie. phone has 17,000 pics, syncs only 16,800 to photos app, and only allows me to copy and paste 15,000 photos into the new folder). TL;DR: i'd like my current backlog of photos to only exist on the macbook. anything i need easy access to i can duplicate to the cloud and my new iphone will start with a clean slate. how do? any help would be so appreciated! | Posted: 07 Aug 2021 03:26 PM PDT Hi, I'm not sure if I'm alone with this but for some reason it seems that my m1 macbook pro colours seems to be somewhat off. The contrast is way too high and black levels too dark (When checking the lagom black test I can't barely see first 2 or 3 rows (pics 1-10 and more). I tried to calibrate it with included software but it's still not good. Quite disappointed as I've always thought that macbooks were supposed to be quite good for photo editing but with this I can't really trust it. Even watching some normal youtube\netflix videos is a bit painful cuz everything is so blown out. This is my first macbook and I'm testing it around to decide if the upcoming 14'' would replace my old laptop (Need a new one to cull photos, surf web, watch videos etc). Wish I could have some sort of an calibration tool to check if it's just me or are the settings way off . Anyone else had same kinds of problems as me ? [link] [comments]  | ||
