question about restoring from an iCloud backup Posted: 02 Apr 2018 10:08 PM PDT until tonight, i have been fortunate enough to have never had to restore an iPhone from a backup. tonight i will be using iTunes to restore my phone with the 11.3 IPSW, and then restoring from an iCloud backup. i was just wondering what to expect from the restore process. i've done some searching around, and from what i understand, a restore from (encrypted) iCloud backup pretty much restores the phone to the exact state it was in at the time of backup, including all my settings, home screen layouts, installed apps, etc. am i correct in my understanding? one thing i wasn't really able to figure out was concerning apps i've removed -- for instance, say i've removed some of the default apps that come with a clean install of iOS, like books or music (i use Spotify) -- are those apps restored and left in place following a clean install + restore? or will iOS know that i had removed them before and remove them again? sorry if that doesn't make any sense, i'm just trying to get a better understanding of how this whole process works while i'm waiting for the IPSW to finish downloading. any insight would be appreciated! How do you fast charge your iPhone X/8? Posted: 02 Apr 2018 07:09 PM PDT How do you fast charge your iPhone X/8? What kind of products do you use? Any suggestion? Any eBay products that works really well, without damaging the battery? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Apr 2018 07:11 PM PDT Tried googling it but everything thinks I'm referring to the wobbling of icons when moving the apps around. It's a 6s otherwise running fine, does this occasionally and seems to move more when the phone is physically moved, possibly tied to the accellerometer? Here's a link to a video of it https://youtu.be/EyltMt9Kc6M [link] [comments]
Small Siri rant I hope i’m not alone Posted: 02 Apr 2018 09:55 PM PDT I love apple, i have all the devices: iPhone X, apple watch series 3, MacBook pro, mac mini, iPad mini, Apple TV, HomePod. You know the 1 thing thats in all those devices? Siri. You know what that 1 thing can't do? A lot! Why is it I tell my apple watch to play a song and Siri says "sorry i cant do that please try on your phone" ... Why is it i can't tell my iPhone to do something on my mac? Or when i'm upstairs tell my watch to turn off the music coming from my HomePod downstairs? I love that apple uses Siri, but can we get some updates to her so she is in the cloud and can see my devices? I feel like I have 5 different virtual assistants I have to remember who does what and who doesn't do that. [link] [comments]
Can I select between 5GHz and 2.4GHz under same SSID? Posted: 02 Apr 2018 09:39 PM PDT My university wifi has both 2.4GHz and 5GHz band but my iPhone 6s decides to connect to more congested 2.4GHz, so the wifi speed is very slow. Can I manually select which band to connect? Edit: iPhone 6s [link] [comments]

IOS 11.3 App Store Draining Battery on Standby Posted: 03 Apr 2018 08:46 AM PDT Currently my App Store is highest in battery usage with more than 70% while I only have 1 min on screen time for it (also says "Audio" where background activity usually is". I turned off automatic updates so I know that is not the problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem? [link] [comments]
Is upgrading from 6s to pixel 2 good decision? Posted: 03 Apr 2018 01:28 AM PDT I got a good deal on pixel 2. However, my iPhone 6s is very good. No lag or any issues and I'm loving the quality of apps in ios. But I really like the camera of pixel 2. What should I do? [link] [comments]

No sound from speaker or headphones Posted: 03 Apr 2018 10:11 AM PDT Hey all I'm not sure if anyone can help me or not, I just broke my iPhone 8 so I'm using my iPhone 6 plus as a backup, but I'm having an issue where the sound isn't working from the speaker or the headphones. I figured it was a software issue but it's still happening after a factory reset. I would imagine if the speaker was bad that the headphones would still work, but nothing does. Does anyone know what's going on? Sound is on, not on silent, everything is turned up in the menu, and I've tried all sorts of trouble shooting. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Apr 2018 10:05 AM PDT What's the best translation app out there? I'm trying to learn a new language. I'm starting out with Duolingo, but that's not great for when I'm chatting with someone and trying to figure out how to say something specific or want to know what they just said/typed. Looking for input: TunnelBear vs. PIA VPN’s Posted: 02 Apr 2018 09:29 PM PDT I'm near the end of my year subscription to TunnelBear. So far so good. But, PIA gets rave reviews, and I'm curious about it. What is your take on one vs the other? TIA. [link] [comments]

possible to receive imessage without sim card? Posted: 03 Apr 2018 08:19 AM PDT I have imessage activated and working on my iphone x, ipad, macbook, apple watch. but today at work i only want to bring my galaxy S8 for certain reasons. the sim card will be moved from my iphone x to my S8. I am wondering.... since I i have imessage already activated on my idevices, and I have send/receive set to my iphone number AND icloud email.. does that mean that if i am on my android and the sim card is not in my iphone, that I would still receive imessages from people to my iDevices since i have my apple ID set as one of my "receive" sources? I basically dont want to miss any imessages today when using android, i am wondering if people in my current imessage convos can continue to imessage me even though my sim card is in my androidi dont want to go through the whole "deactivate imessage" process just for a day or two, since it takes a while and sometimes doesnt work. Posted: 03 Apr 2018 08:09 AM PDT As the title suggests, I'm having this issue where my iPhone 6+ will charge much quicker if I'm plugged in through my desktop's USB 3.0 ports rather than the wall. For example, I plugged my phone in at 3:20AM last night with the iPad charger at 23% and I woke up at 9:30AM to find it still not fully charged at 85%. Compared to my desktop's USB ports, roughly 20-35 minutes of charging can net me at least 20% of charge. What gives? I tried using a brand new 5W from an iPhone X box, a new lightning cable, and its just far too slow. My phone doesn't finish charging overnight before I have to leave for work and it's really strange. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Apr 2018 05:15 PM PDT What percentage should I go to get my battery changed? I have an iPhone 6 with 89% maximum capacity if that helps. [link] [comments] |
