Hey Apple maybe it’s time to get a proper End-to-End iCloud encryption ? Posted: 22 Jul 2021 05:59 AM PDT Apple main marketing point is that they're providing privacy to all users. Backup on iClouds are not 100% safe as anyone with a warrant can ask apple to decrypt and hand over any of iCloud data. What happened to the true E2E iCloud project from a while ago ? Did FBI / Surveillance agency won over privacy in 2021 ? I love apple products and iCloud is a fantastic tool but it's not privacy oriented at all as it is right now. [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Jul 2021 06:25 AM PDT I wanted to make sure you guys know about this. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250318484 I as well as many people I know cannot get their personal data deleted. Pictures, icloud drives, emails, bookmarks, calendars, everything. I don't have any apps on the app store and I stopped paying for a developer license years ago, but it doesn't matter. It infuriates me to no end whenever I see them make another ad about how 'private' they are. Two others with the same problem: https://forums.imore.com/ask-question/411323-cannot-delete-apple-id-need-help.html I have contacted them multiple times and basically begged them to delete my account and they flat out told me 'no'. My only plan now is to eventually move to Europe and sue them. [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Jul 2021 03:03 PM PDT I love the private relay function, but I noticed that even with it on, and with my IP address unavailable to both websites and trackers, and with my tracking prevention on (with the addition of two other privacy extensions), Google still knows that I am using the computer because once I have logged into Gmail once on Safari I no longer have to log in again. Can someone explain how this works? Is it because of cookies? (Btw, I have no IT knowledge whatsoever, so this might be a super silly question to some.) [link] [comments]

The MagSafe Battery Pack’s function is fine, Apple marketed it badly. Posted: 22 Jul 2021 06:50 AM PDT So I bought it and here's where I'm at…. It's not a "top it up as you go" or "quick charge" device. If you know that going into it, it's a lot more palatable. My use case? I put it on my iPhone 12 Pro Max in the morning, I don't take it off. I get an extra 5 hours of battery life. It's not gonna charge my phone up much, but it stays at exactly the % I started at. I am "always" on my phone. I keep it at close to 100% brightness (thanks shitty vision), and I'm a power user. It works. Re thickness? It's no thicker than any battery case you can buy. Maybe I've just got huge hands but it's comfy for me to hold. Re it falling off….no shot. That magnet is hardcore heavy. I think apple needed to market this differently, as a battery extender, as a "leave on and get more battery life" device. Yeah it's 100$ but I mean…look, we all know Apple products cost more. Suck it up. You'll say the anker or mophie is better? Yeah maybe, but they're definitely bigger. Idk it's a great product if you go into it knowing these things, and what to expect.
