Posted: 23 Jun 2021 05:16 PM PDT Hello everybody! I just bought an M1 MBA, I'm upgrading from a MBP 2017 i5, and I'm super excited to try it out. My MBP has been absolutely great, battery is still capable, as it shows Normal condition in the settings and it only has a 176 cycles since I bought it in May 2018. But I was wondering, do you guys have any tips and tricks to take care of a battery even more? I just started my first job, and it requires me being in my laptop from 9 to 6 nonstop. Is it better to work while the laptop is plugged in to the charger? Is it better to drain the battery and charge it when it runs out? What are your thoughts? Any tips and tricks are more than welcome! [link] [comments]

Advice welcomed pls as I've not much experience in these devices [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Jun 2021 03:44 AM PDT I am thinking about getting the MacBook m1 air base model. I will be using it mostly for studies, watching movies and tv shows and occasional photo editing. I heard that there were some ssd issues with the m1 chips so I was wondering if I should get this or wait for the next generation? Also Are there any other issues I've to be aware of? This will be my first MacBook so I don't know much about them. Edit: Will there be throttling issues if I use Lightroom? I've seen in some reviews that there weren't much issues but then I don't know for how long I can use it like that. [link] [comments]
MBP 13.3 M1 Late 2020 Model- Looser Enter Key ? Posted: 23 Jun 2021 09:13 PM PDT Hey guys, so bought a brand new MBP 13.3 and I noticed the Enter key just feels a little less firm than the rest of the keys. The best way to describe it is that if I press the enter key on its very top left or bottom left corners rather than hitting it straight on in the middle, it feels like it wiggles and shakes a bit more than the rest of the keys. Its somewhat subtle, but it's definitely there. Is this normal ? Is it worth doing a replacement for this ? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Please help? Update big Sur- file encryption? Posted: 23 Jun 2021 05:14 PM PDT So I updated my MacBook Air to big Sur 11.4 when I updated it, and it started back up it asked me it I wanted to enable a code for file encryption and I clicked yes. But did not write down this code like a fool. Only read that apple cannot retrieve it for me. What did I do and how can I find it? 🥴 [link] [comments]
Is it a better to get an iPhone over an Android phone if you already own a MacBook? Posted: 23 Jun 2021 02:43 PM PDT I'm not quite sure about getting an iPhone over a cheaper phone. Do you feel that staying within the Apple ecosystem is worth the extra 350 bucks? [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Jun 2021 03:33 PM PDT Any advice on music software that can already play your playlists you've created on Music? I was hoping for something I can use that uses what you've already built in your iTunes library. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Jun 2021 05:56 PM PDT I noticed that the caps lock key takes quite a bit of delayed force or "time" for it to activate and I find this annoying when I'm trying to type in my normal speed but it doesn't activate. All other keys are fine and do not have this issue. I took a video to clarify the problem. Does anyone else have this problem or is this built in to the design? I googled this and found an apply forum that said this is built in to the design to prevent "accidental" caps lock activation, but that doesn't sound right. [link] [comments]
Please help an idiot - removing Windows partition Posted: 23 Jun 2021 12:44 PM PDT Hi, I've removed the partition to the point where it goes straight into Mac now, it doesn't give me the option of opening either one, but it's still there eating up space and showing as two partitions. It's now coming up as "untitled" but no matter what I do, I can't seem to get everything back under MacOS. I've tried using Bootcamp Assistant but that only gives me the option to install Windows. Please help. I've tried everything I've come across through looking into it and I'm no further in sorting it. Many thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Jun 2021 02:37 PM PDT I'm currently using a fairly powerful Windows gaming laptop. I'm not sure whether I want to fully switch to Mac, my ideal situation is to just game on my Windows machine and then use the Mac for college. However, I haven't gotten the chance to truly compare the Macbook Air and Pro, and I'm considering buying one -- just not sure which. No matter what, I'm getting 16GB of RAM and the M1 chip. Probably going with 512GB of storage just to reduce costs / use cloud storage instead. Just want to know if the benefits are worth it going with the Macbook Pro over the Air, as I'd like to keep it as cheap as I can, though I'm willing to save up a little more for the Pro if it makes a big enough difference. In case it affects your answer, I'm a computer science student. I do electronic music production on the side. I do a lot of multitasking and expect a lot of speed from my laptop. I'm currently using a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM, and 1TB of storage. Definitely curious how the M1 chip compares. TL;DR: Is it worth it to pay more for the Macbook Pro instead of the Air if the RAM and processor are the same? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Jun 2021 01:09 PM PDT Recently, my M1 MBA was draining out of battery very quickly. I lose 50% charge in an hour, losing about 1% in less than a minute. This was surely not the case before. When I click on the battery bar in the top right it shows VScode using a significant battery, but VScode is not even opened. I searched about it a little and found out that there are some third-party apps preventing it from sleeping. when i enter
Even if i try to kill the PreventUserIdleSystemSleep by using This is really troubling. I got this laptop just for its battery backup and my work really requires it to last at least a day. Any suggestions or solutions would be great. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Recommendation for my younger cousin Posted: 23 Jun 2021 09:41 AM PDT My younger cousin is looking to either get a m1 macbook air(16gb ram + 1tb ssd) or m1 macbook pro(with either 16gb of ram + 512 ssd with external thunderbolt ssd later). He will use it for Software Development and needs to buy immediately. Which should he get? Also Has anyone faced issues with no fans? I dont think it matters, i have a m1 macbook pro, and have rarely gotten it hot, even so when i had intellij + several safari tabs + meeting on teams. He is concerned about the heat and drop in performance. The machine would probably be in moderate to high use for 10-12 hours a day. The touch bar is not at all necessary. Thank you. Ps: The other variant of m1 macbook pro 8gb + 1tb ssd is also being considered, so please consider this too [link] [comments]

MacOS update and storage needed Posted: 23 Jun 2021 05:22 AM PDT Hello everyone, I've been using High Sierra on my Macbook for a few years now, and while I am absolutely perfectly fine with it, I've been considering to update OS to Catalina or Big Surr for security reasons. My hard drive is 128 GB, I currently have 30 GB free space (I can free up more if needed). From Apple website - "If upgrading from OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 or later, macOS Catalina requires 12.5GB of available storage to upgrade". I saw that Big Surr requires 35 GB. My guestion is, does it mean the update file and new OS will take 12 GB, or it will take more space after installation? Thanks for replies in advance [link] [comments] |
