| Not sure what to do about iPhone 12 mini Posted: 23 Jun 2021 10:42 PM PDT So, I got my first iPhone this year, decided to go all out and buy the iPhone 12 mini. Around two weeks after I received it, I already had a dead pixel. I was kinda disappointed but I didn't think too much of it because it was still under warranty. I sent it in, was without a phone for about a week, got it back and it worked just fine. I recently dropped it in water. It was under a foot, and was under for less than 15 seconds. I dried it and didn't think too much of it since it's advertised for 20 feet for 30 minutes. Less than 24 hours after it came in contact with water, it completely stopped working. I put it in rice while I waited for apple to send me the package so I could send it to them. I talked with an advisor, told him it was probably water damage, but he kept on copying and pasting replies, I could tell because they were typed instantly. He told me to check the water damage indicator, and I did, but I either didn't notice the red, or it wasn't red at the time. I guess he also failed to mention that it was probably water damage in the repair request. (Not sure why this even happened.) I got an email saying that the water damage was not mentioned, and it costs $400 dollars to repair, which is 2/3 of the phone. I am extremely disappointed and let down by my experience with it so far. I talked with another advisor who seemed to actually care, and was really helpful, but he couldn't do anything about it. I have a strong feeling that the workers didn't put the backplate of my phone on tight enough, and it allowed water to get in easily, which in turn completely broke the phone. For clarification, I bought the phone on 1/22/2021, and had to send it in for repair on 2/2/2021 the first time, and sent my phone in for the second time on 6/19/2021. Is there anything I can even do at this point? I'm really tempted to just ditch the iPhone and buy a Samsung, but if there is a way I can convince them to fix it without paying $400 I would much rather do that. Thanks for your time. Brightness stays the same but everything gets more vibrant like someone dialed the contrast up to six, but it's still just as bright as always. Then it seems to slowly get less and less contrasted, then BOOM! Really dark and contrasted again. Like HDR gets turned on somehow [link] [comments]  |

I already followed some advice about cleaning up various caches, but I did not yet try a hard reset. Is it worth it? | Posted: 23 Jun 2021 02:54 PM PDT For context, iPhone 12 Pro Max bought brand new back when they released, so like 8 months ago or whatever. This might sound odd but my phone is acting odd. Every now and then I can see the screen go brighter, the darks become grey and the colors look a bit washed out. Then it pops back to darker randomly too and the greys go back to being black, the colors go back to how they are supposed to be. Today I found out that when I hold my phone like straight to my face the colors go dark, when I hold it in my hands and look down the screen pops and the blacks become grey and the colors get washed out. The screen replacement from Apple is $7000 MXN ($350 USD) but I'd like to know if someone who has already replaced the screen was satisfied with the quality of the replacement. I have the option to replace the screen with an unauthorized apple place, if someone has done it, is the quality much worse or similar with these phone repair places. Also I could sell the broken iphone for cheap and buy an iphone 12 for less money than the official apple replacement, the thing is that I really like the 11 pro. I hope I can get some advice. | Getting notifications 5+ minutes late Posted: 23 Jun 2021 07:18 PM PDT Occasionally I'll get notifications as late as 10 minutes. My phone will make the notification noise, I look at the notification and it will say "7m ago" or "3m ago" This has happened for almost 2 years on 2 different phones, an iPhone 6 and my current iPhone XR. It subjective to specific apps, all of them are affected. I'm about fed up with it as it happens with phone calls too. | “Update Complete” message on every restart? Posted: 23 Jun 2021 06:44 PM PDT iPhone SE (2016) recently updated to 14.6. It finished seemingly without a hitch, however I've noticed that ever since the update any time my phone restarts - whether manually or because of insufficient battery - upon powering back on it will display the "updated completed successfully" screen and prompt to select a WiFi network. I have also been having problems with the device getting really hot and battery dying extra fast. Battery health says 84% capacity, and I typically use older devices so I don't expect much, but I will unplug with 100%, use an app for 20 minutes, and be at 54%. So he returned the screen and got a replacement and forgot to disconnect the battery. Now it shows no sign of life. No vibrations. Nothing. He says he fried the display ports on the motherboard. | Visual voicemail stopped working on my iPhone 11 Posted: 23 Jun 2021 11:24 AM PDT I have my service through Visible and three days ago my visual voicemail was working but yesterday I noticed that it wasn't working. So I contacted customer service and we couldn't get it figured out, and then they passed me on to higher technicians. Just got an email saying that they've resolved my problem and I just need to go to follow this process:
The problem is when I go to the Voicemail tab, it doesn't show the "set up now" option. It just looks normal and has all my past voicemails in there. How do I get my phone to show me the set up now option? Thank you for help! [link] [comments]  |

We both have our original Long Island area code phone numbers. She has my number in her contacts as "Babe" but it isn't saved anywhere else under any other name. Without fail, when I call her, her phone says "Call from Babe, and two others" but doesn't list any other numbers. Are there two other numbers like, tapping my phone or something? I thought that shutting the phone off and turning it on again would fix this but now it's only showing me the apple logo. It has been doing this for a full day now. | Apple Music stops audio randomly Posted: 23 Jun 2021 02:59 PM PDT Today on my walk, listening through my Airpods Pro, several times I was suddenly unable to hear the music. The song's time kept going like nothing was wrong, but I couldn't hear a thing. When I switched to iPhone speaker output, there was still no sound, but the music was apparently still "playing". Volume was up on both devices. Rebooting the phone was the only thing that helped. I did that maybe 4 times, and then switched to Audible instead. No problems there. I've only had this happen a few times playing music through my car via Bluetooth (and maybe the USB cable?) but never the device itself or through the Airpods. Has anyone else encountered this? It was bizarre and more than mildly annoying. I need my tunes on walks. [link] [comments]  |

My young nephew took it one day, played with it and locked me out saying connect to iTunes. When doing that it says the phone must be cleared and I dont want that to happen and dont have the phone's cloud backup set up properly. Is there a way to get it unlocked without clearing the data? | iPhone 12 front camera doesn't work Posted: 23 Jun 2021 04:25 AM PDT A few days ago I got an iPhone 12 and everything works pefectly fine except for my front camera. I have two problems. First, when I try to take a photo of myself, small areas of my face gets really bright and they stay there for a second. This happens almost everytime I open the front camera. I restarted my phone but it continues to happen. I can still take normal pictures but it would be nice to be able to take a photo without having to wait. Check the link at the bottom if you want to see examples. Secondly, I can't zoom in on the front camera. I used to have an iPhone 7s before and I could zoom in with the front camera. I assume that I should be able to do it with this one as well? I haven't been able to find the function yet but if anyone know how to do it, please let me know. The phone is brand new and have been like this since I got it so everything should work fine. Right now it's running iOS 14.6, if that helps. | Posted: 23 Jun 2021 11:31 AM PDT i don't know if this is the right subreddit to ask, but something weird just happened with my facetime. i fell asleep with my boyfriend on facetime last night, but i woke up around 4am to see that the call failed. i clicked cancel when it gave me the option to call back and then i went back to sleep. i then woke up at 730am to call my boyfriend back, but after a few calls he hadn't answered so I gave up and went back to sleep again. a few hours later, we start texting and i told him that i called him a bunch of times at 730. he then tells me that we were still on facetime when he woke up around 730 and that he didn't even realize that we were because his phone was locked as if we weren't when he woke up. he was watching youtube and realized that it was very quiet, like it is when you're on facetime, and then he saw that i was still on the phone. he said he talked a little but then heard that i was snoring so he hung up. for me, the call ended at 4am and i was able to make calls hours later. for him, we were still on the phone at 730am and he could hear me. how is this possible?
