I want to have some privacy with my family but they keep using the excuse "You don't need to hide anything from us". I can't reset my device because I have screen time and need the screen time password. I can't leave family sharing because screen time is enabled. | Why does my 2020 Mac battery drain so fast? Posted: 20 May 2021 09:11 PM PDT My battery can barely last 2 hours of constant use...and as a student, that is just annoying. I have the 2020 Macbook and got it last August. I keep my brightness at 3/4 full brightness and I use Chrome with around 15 tabs open. But other than that, I never have any other programs running (maybe keep my calendar app open). So, why does my battery drain so damn quickly? I thought Mac batteries are supposed to last like 10 hours or something. I figured Chrome would use a bit more battery but for my Mac to not even last 2 hours??? [link] [comments]  |

Most solutions online point to using Terminal and doing dot_clean but that doesn't work for me. I also have a problem simply duplicating the file on my iMac, so it's not an external hard drive compatibility issue. | My Dell monitor intermittently turns off and on when set to 60Hz. Posted: 20 May 2021 08:00 PM PDT Here's my setup: M1 Macbook Air (base with 16 GB RAM, if that's relevant) When I set the monitor to 30Hz (or lower) via display settings, everything is fine. No complaints of any kind. The problem: When I set it to 60Hz it intermittently blinks off, for about a second, every 4-6 seconds. It seems to work normally for the few seconds between blinking off (i.e., no glitchiness or anything). I actually had this problem right out of the box when I first connected my MBA some months ago, but after fiddling with things I found that reversing the ends of the thunderbolt cable solved the problem. 60Hz was working fine for a while, until the update to Big Sur 11.3. Now the problem is back, and reversing the cable doesn't do anything to help. I'm not aware of the cable having suffered any trauma in the meantime. I tried reversing the Displayport cable, and nothing changed. I have no other way of connecting my MBA to this monitor right now, so I can't isolate any parts of this to test. I'm hoping to avoid having to buy many different adapters to test different aspects of this. I've been thinking about getting a new Thunderbolt cable (or contacting Caldigit to see if they'll replace it) since my earlier experience indicates it might be a problem, but before doing that I figured I'd ask if this is a known issue with a known solution. | AirPod Pro's not being recognized on any device Posted: 20 May 2021 07:41 PM PDT Had a problem with my AirPods a few days ago where only one bud was connecting so i decide to factory reset them to fix the issue. After resetting, I can't get them to be recognized on any of my devices, iPad, mac, iPhone. My theory right now is somehow the bluetooth emitter got fried in them and now i'm stuck with a $200 cube blinking white at me. For clarification these are AirPod Pro's and were bought last February and I have never dropped them hard and have not cleaned them yet. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]  |

| Issues with replacement iPhone 8 plus Posted: 20 May 2021 07:10 PM PDT So, I went to best buy for a battery replacement, they broke it, got me a replacement one, but I cannot activate the phone. It just keeps looping back to the activation screen after I go through the process of it and can get on the home screen for a moment. If I take out the sim card, I can use it just fine, but it gets stuck in a loop with the sim card in. I was on customer support with apple, and the phone is showing as a GSM, however, I am on Verizon which uses CDMA, so that might be where the issue is at. | iPad keeps asking for "Apple Id Verification" Posted: 20 May 2021 06:58 PM PDT So this started happening yesterday. I keep getting prompted for my icloud account password, even after i correctly enter it. I've gone to the apple site and change my password. I made sure the id& password are valid as I also have a mac laptop and iphone. It works/authenticates fine there. On the ipad, it appears to take the password, as the dialog box closes. But soon after ( 5s - 60s) it is prompting me again. This is an iPad gen 4, running 10.3.3, which is the most recent for Gen 4 iPads. Any thoughts ? [link] [comments]  |

| No access to apple ID email and don't know security questions Posted: 20 May 2021 02:48 PM PDT Hi everyone, This problem has been affecting me for literally years and I don't know how to fix it. Every time I click into settings or when I'm just messing around on my phone I'll get one of these two pop up's: https://imgur.com/a/l6Sdohy or https://imgur.com/a/k3zmCRg. I know my password, but when I enter it, it says my Apple ID been locked for security reasons and needs verification. My options are to get an email sent to me or remember my security questions. My email account was created when I was 15 or so (I'm 26 now) and is now deactivated (https://imgur.com/a/dXJzz6z), and I don't know the answers to my security questions. No matter what I try I just can't remember the right answers. I have another Apple ID that I want to use but I can't even sign out of my current Apple ID because it requires me to sign in before I can sign out (you can actually see it under "Media & Purchases" in the 1st picture) So what the hell can I do here? I'm so frustrated. I'm starting a new job in a few weeks and need to have my phone working perfectly as it's going to be my business phone number as well. I get that I should've acted sooner and not let this go on so far but it's where I'm at. I haven't called Apple yet but it's probably my next step. Changing volume, whether it's increasing or decreasing it, makes the volume spike really high. Happens after connecting to a speaker after a while or for the first time.
