    macOS Big Sur messing with my iCloud contacts?

    Hello everyone. After lots of trial and error, searching the web, and asking lots of my fellows, I still haven't fixed this weird issue.

    There's three devices in my setup, one running iOS `14.4`, one running macOS Mojave `10.14.6` and one running macOS Big Sur `11.2.1`.

    When I enable iCloud contacts on the Big Sur device, my contacts kind of get messed up; some contacts are added/duplicated, my calendar shows birthdays twice or even three times, and also several "Cards" are being shown in Contacts.app of that device (see image below) which I have never seen before, don't know what it even is, and how to disable it.

    Could anyone help out here?

    PS: I disabled Siri on all of my devices and never used it before. I think, though, that I've seen something along the lines of "Siri found in Mail" in contacts at some point during my trial and error, I don't see an example right now, though.

    A time tracker app that simply records active time on my mac so I can see how much time I used my computer each day?

    Screen Time doesn't just record active time (when I'm moving the mouse and keyboard) so it's not much use to me as I often leave my mac on and not sleeping.

    Most time tracker apps seems to want to record each website I visit and them sell this information to third parties which I really don't like the sound of.

    Is there an app anyone is aware of that does what I'm looking for?

    Downgraded my 2015 iMac's OS from Big Sur

    Since I upgraded my iMac to Big Sur from Catalina it began to run like a dog. I couldn't explain it, no OS upgrade had ever had that effect on it before. I began to yearn for the days when my Mac ran High Sierra and was silky smooth and just worked like a Mac should. So I decided to downgrade back to High Sierra and am so glad that I did. I plan to keep my Mac frozen in time for as long as possible in this state and never upgrade the OS again!! I only use it for web browsing and not a lot else so if it aint broke why fix it!

    MacOS transition for a long time Windows user.

    So the last time I used MacOS was in 2003 on an eMAc :) Things have changed a lot and I am completely lost in the new MacOS. I am basically using it like a Windows machine and am afraid am not doing much justice to its special features. Is there a good intro for new users aiming to be power users?

    Photos "stuck" uploading 7,654 Photos to iCloud

    Hi,

    I recently had to sign out and back in to my iCloud account on my Mac (Big Sur 11.2.1).

    Prior to this, all my photos were synced nicely with iCloud. However since then, it has been stuck on uploading 7,654 items. Meanwhile new photos on my iPhone are not being downloaded to my Mac.

    I have deselected/reselected iCloud Photos in settings to try and reset it but it always stops at this number (the total number is higher).

    Any ideas?

    App store won't download apps on Mojave

    App store doesn't start downloads on Mojave (10.14.6) and all I get is a spinning circle. I've tried restarting my mac, signing out and back into the app store, doing some terminal commands found on other forums, deleting appstore.plist and some others and none seem to be working.

    I know it's not an app compatibility issue with an older OS (when I try to download newer incompatible apps it tells me so). Any help appreciated

    Software Update Flair

    I recently upgraded my Mac to Big Sur (like an hour ago) and I HATE IT-so so so much. Is there a way for me to go back to Catalina without anxiety inducing coding since I have no idea what I'm doing. . .I kind of just googled MacOS Catalina update, found the page below, and i'm scared to try to download it. I just really need to get rid of Big Sur-I hate change and I was tired of being asked to update, which took like an hour to do. What on Earth can I do-Getting kind of desperate. . .

    Can’t install iOS apps on M1 Mac

    I have SIP enabled, I tried signing out then back into the App Store, and I've tried on both 11.2 and 11.2.2

    Trying to open video with QuickTime

    Hi! I'm trying to open video with QuickTime so I can edit it with iMovie. It currently will only open with vlc which doesn't help me because I need to edit it. File is .mp4 mpeg-4 movie. What can I do to solve this problem?

    App Store Won’t Update or Download Apps

    I have a 2016 MacBook Pro running Mojave and recently I found out it's not downloading or updating apps in the App Store. When I click download or update all I get is the spinning circle and it'll spin till I have to force close the app. I've also found the store is unbearably slow at time.

    If anyone has any tips I'm all ears. I'm trying to avoid updating to BigSur unless it's become more stable recently.

    Next version of MacOS version number?

    I know we just left the Mac OS X (10.0 - 10.15) era which lasted for 20 years after Mac OS 9.

    It's crazy that a few months after 11.0 released we're on MacOS 11.2

    Will the next version become MacOS 12?

    Who else is experiencing horrible battery drains on Intel MBP?

    Normally to watch a movie would consume 17% with Catalina... now with Big Sur for a movie consumed 51%!!

    Movies of 90mimutes, and already uninstalled Services that were consuming battery in background.

    Feel same as using windows laptop, so bad battery performance

    With Bigsur have they abandon good service to intel users?? Someone else experiencing battery draining ? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

    Update During Setup? M1 Users

    I know Big Sur can install a software update prior to user migration.

    I am getting another Air tomorrow and would like to fully update prior to creating a user. I plan to clean install everything.

    Is there a way, other than creating a USB installer and wiping it at first boot?

    I only found out about the migration way to do the latest update accidentally.

    My goal is to install the latest Big Sur (release, not beta), then do all my setup, as opposed to doing setup, then doing the update.

    Thoughts?

    Notes App using significant amount of CPU?

    2017 Macbook Pro 13" Big Sur 11.2.2 (just updated to this and it still didn't fix problem)

    Has anyone noticed the built-in Notes app using a ton of their CPU? A few seconds after opening the app, my laptop starts to get hot then the fans kick on. Activity Monitor confirms it's the Notes app. I haven't been able to fix it with a fresh restart, etc. Any ideas?

    Is M1 MacBook swap memory usage an issue?

    I just bought the base model(8/256) MacBook Air. I saw some articles about ssd wear on M1 MacBooks.

    I am a regular user. I want my MacBook to last for at least 5 years. Should I be worried about the lifespan of the ssd? Or is this issue just a gimmick?

    Should I return my MacBook?

    No audio with 75hz displayport

    Hi guys,

    I have an LG 29UM68-P monitor hooked up to my 2020 MacBook Air with a DisplayPort. I get audio at 60hz refresh rate but once I switch to 75hz, no audio.

    Anyone got any ideas???? I have searched the web and I cannot find a solution.

    Strangely enough though, it works at 75hz if I hook a windows computer up to it.

    Cracked apps on M1

    I receive the ‘decline’ notifications normally from iCloud calendar on iPhone iOS 14 but no ‘accept’ notifications but works perfectly on macOS
