Looks like Apple dropped everything coming out on Apple TV+ tomorrow a few hours early

    Posted: 25 Feb 2021 06:43 PM PST

Currently watching S2E2 of For All Mankind as I type this. Episode 7 of Servant, the season finales of Dickinson, Losing Alice, and the Billie Eilish doc are also now available to stream.

Why do people hate the Apple TV remote so much?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2021 09:02 PM PST

Yes to me the touch could be a bit better, but once you adjust the sensitivity to your preference it's pretty good if you keep it clean, also the buttons are fairly easy to figure out if you use other Apple devices. I am just so confused at how people can say that it is a confusing remote or hard to use. The closest thing to "hard to use" I can figure is if you have big hands, other than that to me the remote is actually pretty good and easy to use.

    Automatically update never works

    Posted: 25 Feb 2021 06:43 PM PST

Does Automatically Update system software work for anyone? I just realized I was still running tvOS 14.3 a month after the release of 14.4. It never updated on its own, nor did it prompt me to update. Apple TV 4K.

Playing music through Apple TV is jacked up as of recent

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 03:33 AM PST

About three weeks ago, my Apple TV stopped working properly when playing Apple Music content. The only thing that might have changed in my setup is that I participate in Apple's beta program, so I've been getting regular updates to iOS, MacOS and Apple TV recently. I've made sure all the latest updates are on all devices. I've reset the network settings on all devices. I've run through preference settings on all devices.

It's a strange problem that depends on what device the music is originated from.

    - Music through Mac OS devices (MBP and iMac) to Apple TV - Selecting Apple TV through Airplay activates Apple TV, but no music is played through connected devices. I can Airplay my screen from Mac OS devices, so they are communicating with Apple TV.

    - Music through iOS devices (iPhone and iPad) to Apple TV - Works, but there is no longer any volume control on the iOS devices. I can also airplay my screen from iOS devices to the TV.

    - Music from Apple Music library selected directly from the Apple TV App - works perfectly.

Any ideas what may be happening or how to remedy?

Supposed to get 1 year free....

    Posted: 25 Feb 2021 08:57 PM PST

I'm supposed to get 1 year free of apple tv+ because I bought an apple TV recently. I got an email from them with a link to follow to activate it - but it keeps reverting to the 7 day free trial once I sign in. Anyone had this happen? It's going to expire soon and I can't figure this out! Tia!!!

YouTube not working on 4th Gen A1625

    Posted: 25 Feb 2021 08:39 PM PST

I've been trying to load YouTube and YouTube Kids on my 4th Gen Apple TV but it says it cannot connect to network. Tried rebooting twice and reinstalling app. All other apps and streams work and YouTube loads on my iPhone using the same network. I read YouTube will phase out 3rd gen 2012 Apple TVs as of March 2021.

    Anyone else have this issue?

macOS app issues after viewing a bundle

    Posted: 25 Feb 2021 12:24 PM PST

The app works perfectly fine however when viewing bundles the pricing may be wrong as it's showing the Star Wars Skywalker Saga bundle, for instance, but actually showing price for a different one.

Also the trackpad totally freezes after viewing any bundle which forces an app restart.

Is this happening to anyone else? I can't find any reports anywhere of anyone having similar issues. Trackpad is the most annoying.

TV that can be controlled with Apple TV remote app

    Posted: 25 Feb 2021 03:48 PM PST

Hey folks... as per the title.

We've got a 32" tv in the bedroom with an Apple TV. The wife and I both have iPhones so we use the remote app. It does everything except power the TV on/off, and control the volume.

It's an older TV, and I've tried going into the TV menu itself, but we still can't get the remote app to toggle the tv power or control the volume.

I'd like to get a new TV that we can both fully control with our iPhones. Is there anything in particular I should be looking for in the TV?

    Thanks!

New Apple TV 4K Dropping network (both 5ghz and 2.4ghz)

    Posted: 25 Feb 2021 07:04 AM PST

I tried looking for recent posts on the subject but only found one on this subreddit from a couple years ago, thus, I'm starting a new one (and sorry for making it a long one).

I just got a new Apple TV 4K after upgrading to a 4K television. I'm really excited to watch 4K/HDR content. However, the ATV4K keeps dropping the network (and then immediately reconnecting). On my 5ghz network, it drops like, every 60 seconds. Litterally, as I'm sitting here typing this I am constantly seeing the 'No Network Detected' error popping up in the corner of the tv. When I switch to the 2.4ghz network, it drops much less often, but still drops. Like, I can't get through a 44 minute tv episode without that network dropping.

I've spent several hours over a few days on the phone with Apple support. The person I've been working with has been very helpful and throughough in his troubleshooting, looking at my network performance, network channels, resetting the system, forgetting/reconnecting the network, etc. However, nothing has worked so far. As I understand, this issue was supposed to be solved in a tvOS fix a couple years ago, however my ATV4K is updated to the most recent version, 14.4. I used an Apple TV HD (4th gen) for 5 years before this and never once had a problem with the network dropping. I'm not at the point of giving up on Apple TV yet, as I love the UI and I'm very tied in to the Apple ecosystem, but Roku is looking better and better every day.

Does anyone have any advice? I know it's not the wifi network because nothing else I have does this constant dropping. And I have gigabit DSL from CenturyLink (which of course is not 1G after it gets to wifi).

Other devices on 5ghz: macbook pro, iphone, ipad (rarely turned on), xbox1 and nintendo switch (which aren't even turned on while I'm watching ATV).

Other devices on 2.4ghz: work laptop (only on 8-4pm), tv (in case it needs an update).
