- I’ve had it with my 2016 macbook. After problems with the butterfly keyboard the screen is now dying (a little less than 3 years in). Apple is asking me 500$ to replace it. I am thinking about switching back to a 2015 MBP (or even leaving apple altogether). Any similar experiences or advices?

Posted: 04 Oct 2020 09:37 PM PDT Hey all! I have a 2013 MacBook Pro (I know, a dinosaur). I love it and really don't want to part with it; however, it's been running sooo slow lately. Any tips on how to speed it up? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Oct 2020 08:26 PM PDT So the new macbook spec have been leaked and the macbook air successor is 12 inch. I personally feel this is way too small. When do you guys think a bigger mac air would come out ? Like atleast 13 inch. Do you guys think apple will release a MBA in 2021 [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Oct 2020 03:27 PM PDT About 5 months ago, I had to replace my 2015 15" Macbook Pro's battery because it swelled up. It worked fine for a while, until last week. Last week my keyboard and trackpad stopped working. I opened it up and found out that the locking mechanism on my trackpad cable had broken off. When I apply pressure on the connector, my keyboard and trackpad work. When I take pressure off of it, they stop working. Obviously I need to install a new track pad, since that's where the problem lies. However, I just glued a new battery into place. My question is, can I remove the battery (like I did 5 months ago), replace the trackpad, and then reuse that battery? I don't want to purchase a new battery (especially when this one has 10 cycles) just to replace a trackpad. Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments]
Which MacBook to buy for school and browsing? Posted: 04 Oct 2020 06:56 PM PDT Since online school has started my laptop has been really laggy with all the tabs (4-5 tabs open). It's starting to freeze on my second to last class of the day. I'm usually using google classroom/slides/meet/docs, Zoom, etc. I'm usually on my laptop for 7-10 hours a day. Which MacBook should I buy? I don't mind waiting for Black Friday or something if there are deals. I'd also like to use it for video editing and a bit of web games. [link] [comments]
Inherited MacBook Air with this Display Posted: 04 Oct 2020 06:55 PM PDT Got this 2015 MacBook Air (A1466) handed down, and I'm wondering how involved fixing this could be. External display works completely fine. Is there any chance it's a loose cable or something else relatively fixable? If it's even a new display, I'd probably attempt to replace it on my own since I'm playing w/house money anyway. If it's 100% some motherboard issue or similar, then I might not worry with it at all. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
MBP 2020 Warm/Hot Area near the Trackpad Posted: 04 Oct 2020 06:37 PM PDT Hi all! Just bought the MBP 2020 as replacement to my 7/8 yr old laptop. Been using it for 3 days now and I just noticed last night that the left and right areas from the trackpad get a bit warm/hot - is this a normal occurrence? Would like to hear from fellow users of MBP 2020 so I don't go panicking too soon. Thank you! [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Oct 2020 04:46 PM PDT Hello, Everywhere I have read about this, it seems people say it would only support up to 1 TB SATA SSD. To use a regular M.2 SATA SSD you'd need an adapter, and the SSD has to be single sided. That being said, Western Digital has a WD Blue 3D Nand SATA SSD that goes up to 2 TB, and it is single sided as well. Is there any reason this wouldn't be supported? Like would the motherboard not recognise it? Thank you. [link] [comments]

Macbook Pro Screen Persistence Ghosting 2012 Retina Posted: 04 Oct 2020 01:08 PM PDT So my 2012 15 retina MacBook pro, which i bought a month ago off facebook marketplace has started screen ghosting slightly. It was basically new when I got it and I've only just noticed it. The in built display is manufactured by LG (according to a terminal command) and apparently there are issues with this display which Apple posted about here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202580 Was wondering is anyone knew much about this issue? I just don't want it to get worse. [link] [comments]

Error message when trying to view the order status Posted: 04 Oct 2020 09:00 AM PDT Hello. I purchased a 2020 mba about a week ago and when I'm trying to view the order status, it is giving me the error message: "There was a problem with your request. Please try again." It didn't have problems yesterdey tho. Has anyone had this problem? Should I be worried? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Oct 2020 05:24 AM PDT Downloaded the new MacBook securitysoftware update from the 24th yesterday and ever since I cannot connect to hotspot from my iPhone (T-Mobile). I've connected another device to the hotspot so I know it's not my phone/T-Mobile. Any advice? So frustrating bc I only have hotspot and no WiFi at home. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Expanding bluetooth capacity on older macbooks Posted: 04 Oct 2020 04:38 AM PDT Hi, my sister is having issues with her 2 year old Macbook Air (so last-gen). When she has her keyboard & mouse connected over bluetooth, everything works fine. As soon as she connects her bluetooth headset, she's getting issues (bad audio, laggy mouse etc). So my guess would be that the older Macbooks have less bluetooth capacity. Would connecting a USB bluetooth dongle "expand" that bluetooth capacity and fix it? Any of you had this issue and were able to fix it that way? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Oct 2020 04:36 AM PDT So I just remembered a 13" Air from around 2011 that I had lying around. From the last time I remember using it, the display was going haywire (lines, huge black spot, etc.). I tried turning it on again, but I'm not getting much feedback from it. No startup sound, no apple logo on the back, blank display. The only sign of life I'm seeing is that the fan is turning on. I also tried plugging in a phone through the USB and it started charging. Do the last two mean that it's working? I'm planning on buying a generic $70 display and keeping it as a backup/basic browsing device. If that's not enough to go on, what else can I do to check if it's live? [link] [comments] |
