- Wondering if an Apple TV is worth it. Please answer a few of my questions and share your experience.
- Every few days I have to get into settings and change them back to SDR.... Why is Apple changing settings to where they want them and not where I want them. Ridiculous!
- So what are the chances for a new Apple TV this Fall?
- Apps on Apple TV - Amazon/Netflix/PBS - keep forgetting paused/watched info
- Flickering/Flashing on Dolby Vision content, iTunes movies, Netflix. I tried changing many settings in the ATV as well as the TV (TCL 2019 Series 5). Seems to happen right before scene changes. Same movie plays fine in Roku ATV App.
- Does AppleTV keep streaming if the TV is turned off?
- I can’t recommend the Function 101 remote enough.
- Audio on Airplay2 with tvOS 14.
- Apple TV 4K vs Nvidia Shield TV Pro
- Need your advice, do you know of an app that can play two youtube videos at once? I want to play one youtube video on mute while getting the sound of the other video playing in the background (for ambient videos).
- Apple TV4K Won't Play 4K Movies from iTunes Library
- We all hate the current controller. What could be your ideal one?
Wondering if an Apple TV is worth it. Please answer a few of my questions and share your experience. Posted: 31 Aug 2020 04:08 AM PDT Hi guys, as the title says I am deliberating if I should buy an Apple TV. I honestly do like the gimmicks that the Apple TV brings, however, I don't think they are worth the price of an Apple TV 4K. It's also important to note that I have a Samsung Q60 TV, which supports AirPlay by default. Additionally, the only streaming services I would use at the moment are Netflix, Twitch and Crunchyroll and this deliberation started only because the Samsung store does not have Twitch and Crunchyroll. They actually don't have anything much other than the Apple TV app and and Netflix. Anyway, there are work-arounds for that, so honestly I would be buying the Apple TV just for the gimmicks. I will also get the PS5 once it comes out, which does have the streaming apps I need, but it would not be as comfortable as the Apple TV, which brings us again to gimmicks. And since it seems that I would probably be getting an Apple TV for gimmicks, I would like to know the extend of those gimmicks. - Can I say, "Hey Siri, Play Rick and Morty on Netflix?" Would it play the show instantly through Netflix or would there be additional steps? - Do I need to specifically activate Siri through the remote control of the Apple TV or can I also use the same command through my HomePod, and then Siri would register this for my Apple TV? - Would the same command for Netflix work for Twitch as well? You're welcome to share your experiences and feedback as well. I would really appreciate it, however, please be objective because I once bought an Apple Watch just because I thought I needed it and people were also saying "it's magical", which lead me down that road as well. One year later I sold it for quite a good price but still, please be objective. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Apps on Apple TV - Amazon/Netflix/PBS - keep forgetting paused/watched info Posted: 30 Aug 2020 10:34 PM PDT I am having a weird problem where my apple tv box is forgetting where we are in different apps and shows, and marking them as unwatched, or only half watched. I finished six seasons of a show recently on Amazon Prime app, and the last season had been shown as all full bars/watched, but now it shows as only half watched/half bars. Last night I paused a show on the PBS app, episode 4. It lost my pause point, shows I watched all of episode 1, none of 2, and half of 3. And tonight started me as if I never watched any of episode 4. And it won't save any progress if I leave the app. It resets back to not watched at all. In the Netflix app, it's showing that I am only finishing shows to the halfway mark. So the bars on a lot of previously watched shows all look the same, half a bar. We have two apple tv boxes, and subscriptions to apps Netflix, PBS, and Amazon Prime. This started intermittently last month, but has gotten really bad this week. I can see this happened a few years ago for other people on other devices, but I don't see how to fix it. I tried rebooting the two apple tvs, but no change. Last week, my remote stopped working and I had to reboot to fix that too. It would swipe side to side, but not up/down. Is anyone else having this problem? Or is there a link to a fix I can do? Does AppleTV keep streaming if the TV is turned off? Posted: 30 Aug 2020 09:44 AM PDT I have an AppleTV HD and recently have seen my data usage skyrocket. We had family move in due to COVID-19, so that's part of it. So my first question: Lets say I'm watching YoutubeTV - and I turn the TV off while still streaming in the app, instead of going back to the menu when I'm done. Will the AppleTV keep streaming from the YouTubeTV app? [link] [comments]
I can’t recommend the Function 101 remote enough. Posted: 30 Aug 2020 05:36 PM PDT If you get frustrated with the Apple TV/Siri remote please do yourself a favor and invest in the Function 101 remote. No frills, it's just a normal remote. Only slight down side is it's IR and uses AAA batteries. Other than that I have no complaints. It's a normal size that won't get lost in the couch cushions, it doesn't have a stupidly sensitive touch pad, and it actually works with my tv. Great purchase. [link] [comments]
Audio on Airplay2 with tvOS 14. Posted: 30 Aug 2020 02:22 PM PDT It's very loud/quiet using AppleTV and Airplay2 to two Ikea Symfonisk speakers. Any one else having the same issue? [link] [comments]
Apple TV 4K vs Nvidia Shield TV Pro Posted: 30 Aug 2020 01:06 PM PDT Apple TV 4K is still the best in my opinion. In light of the Nvidia Shield TV getting update 8.2 with its AI upscaling on content up to 1080p 60FPS, I was curious about it and bought one mainly for MLB.tv, YouTube TV, HBO Max. With all things being equal, both devices being hardwired with gigabit internet, running an a Sony A8G OLED, the Apple TV HANDS DOWN looks better on every single app with the enhanced AI upscaling turned on on the Nvidia Shield TV. The Nvidia Shield, which I know is a great device, is inferior in terms of video quality and overall streaming. [link] [comments]

Apple TV4K Won't Play 4K Movies from iTunes Library Posted: 30 Aug 2020 08:38 AM PDT This week I bought an Apple TV 4K and a new-ish iMac, and put some 4K movies in my iTunes library (well, I guess it's called the Apple TV library now, but that's a whole other topic) on that iMac. When I try to play any of these 4K movies on my Apple TV4K via the Computers app with Home Sharing on, the movies won't play. It just keeps circling/loading. All non-4K movies from my library will play just fine via the same method. This happened on my Apple TV Third Generation too, with the same exact movie files, but I just figured it was because the Third Generation didn't support 4K videos. I've tried re-encoding these same movies, tinkering with all the various settings each time, and it doesn't seem to be things like frame rate or file size causing this. It seems that is just won't play movies that are 4K. I can't find anything in Apple Support forums describing this same issue. So any insight anyone can give would be much appreciated. Does anyone know what might be causing this? [link] [comments]
