Catch-22 logging into iMessage and Apple ID with a new phone. Posted: 01 Jun 2020 11:44 PM PDT Hi! I just switched to an iPhone (former Android user), and I've been having some trouble getting the calling and texting functions to work. Here's the situation - Phone Model: iPhone SE Purchase date: within the last two weeks; my family ordered them as a group Country: United States Nature of purchase: personal use OS: not sure, probably the most recent one The issue: I recently switched to iPhone from Android, and did not have an Apple ID until today. I created one and linked it to my email, but have not been able to link it to my phone number. iOS appears to have created a Catch-22, where I can't send or receive texts through iMessage, or receive calls on the call function, because I haven't activated my phone number on Apple ID; and I can't activate my Apple ID because doing so requires me to receive either a text message or a call on this phone. What caused the issue: It just came this way. Attempted solutions: I've tried sending a text message to myself (it failed to send), and I've checked my email and spam folder for iMessages I could have received (none found), since one of the settings says I can receive iMessages there too. I also tried turning off iMessage in the Messages settings. This still hasn't allowed me to send messages to myself, which makes me think there might be some kind of problem with my phone number not being attached to this phone. Does anyone know a way to get around this problem? I get the sense there must be something I'm missing, since anyone switching to iPhones would run into this problem. [link] [comments] |
how to backup iPhone X with non responsive touchscreen Posted: 01 Jun 2020 10:21 PM PDT My iPhone X on the current iOS has a non responsive touchscreen. This suddenly happened out of the blue earlier today. Several reboots and it is still not responsive. There are solutions online for how to back it up such as here: https://deciphertools.com/blog/iphone-passcode-broken-screen/ It involves connecting a USB keyboard However, in the current iOS, I must unlock iPhone to use accessories. So I don't think the USB keyboard accessory method will work. Is there another method? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jun 2020 01:55 PM PDT Just wondering if there is a way to block a SPECIFIC group text thread I'm apart of. Been apart of this group text for a few years now with around 7 guys on it. When it started, I was fine with everything and everyone on it. Eventually got tired of getting so many messages so I turned of the alerts for JUST this text thread. Also after a while didn't remain friends with 2 of the participants so naturally I blocked those people specifically but still get this continuing conversation where I get replies from the people I still DO talk to without any context since they're replying to the blocked ones. Don't want to have to have some line-in-the-sand declarative statement to all of them on the thread where I say "hey, I don't want to be apart of this group text anymore because you guys reply way too much and also I don't want to hear from Josh or Will anymore so can you guys just take me off of this" but I'm not sure what else there is to do. As soon as I do that I'll start getting nothing but resentment from the guys I still communicate with. Just want a way to block ONLY this group text and not the people that I still talk to. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jun 2020 08:54 PM PDT I acquired Samsung Galaxy Buds + prior too switching to iOS. As far as it's all concerned, they work great. Still love the buds. However I have noticed on some occasions my buds will be connected to my iPhone or iPad in Bluetooth settings but not controllable by volume switch and no audio comes through. Nothing seems to jump start the connection except restarting my device. Has anyone run into this? Is this an issue I will just have to manage? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jun 2020 08:36 PM PDT My alarms arent at full volume. I have the sounds for warnings on max. I have tried to reset my iPhone. I have updated to last software-update. I don't have "do not disturb" on. I have the iPhone on sounds for calls and messages. I don't have Bluetooth on. Weird thing if I try to change the alarm tone, it rings them with full volume, but when it then rings in the morning or with 1 minute delay it's like maybe 20/30% power. I have the iPhone X :-) I'm grateful for any tip [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jun 2020 08:34 PM PDT So I dropped my phone kinda hard earlier in the day. Nothing appeared to be broken but a couple hours later I kept getting a SIM card failure notice and my phone is not connecting to data. I have Verizon btw. I got the SIM card out but I forgot to turn my phone off and now my number won't even display on my phone. I can only send and receive messages through my Apple ID. I would go to the Verizon store tomorrow but personal circumstances and fear of Covid spreading, I probably won't be able to go to the store in person for a while. Google hasn't given me any answers. I was wondering if anyone knew anything or had any suggestions. I have an IPhone XS Max and I think it's about 2ish years old now. I also updated my phone and carrier settings and nothing has worked. I even tried resetting network settings, taking the SIM card out again with the phone off and blowing on the SIM card and slot to remove dust but nothing has worked so far. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Can't access internet via WiFi. Posted: 01 Jun 2020 07:58 PM PDT iPhone XR. I can connect to wireless networks (at home, at Starbucks, etc.). iPhone sees them. Connects to them. But there's no internet connection on the iPhone. Other devices (i.e. laptops) connect to the same Wi-Fi and get internet access. When using iPhone at Starbucks, it connects to network and even brings up log-in page. But after that, no internet access. So far I have:
This started yesterday. I cannot think of anything significant that has happened that might cause this. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |

iPhone Xs Max is Getting no Data and randomly drops to no service Posted: 01 Jun 2020 02:10 PM PDT I recently bought an iPhone Xs Max that was broken. I decided to rebuild the entire phone and install new parts. The iPhone is now working fine, or so I thought. The iPhone is having a difficult time connecting to my carrier. It would have full bars, and then drop to one bar, and then go to no service. I have tried removing the sim card and reinstalling it, without any results. It is on ios 13.5.1 Is this some sort of board issue or is there some sort of update not installed? [link] [comments] |
iPhone 11 webpages showing text only? Posted: 01 Jun 2020 05:28 PM PDT Hi there I'm using an iPhone 11 Pro and I have some webpages that do not load properly. I've tried using safari and chrome with both showing the same issues. The sites do not load anything but text and the size of some things on the site are really big. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. “Settings” & “App Store” notifications issue Posted: 01 Jun 2020 04:33 PM PDT I just finished chatting with Apple support team about the notifications issue of "Settings" & "App Store" the default Apple apps. which don't show any notifications unless I refresh the "App Store" app. To search for apps. Updates or go to "Software Update" from General in "Settings" app. To show the new version of the software. I need your help as I all suggestions from Apple support team didn't solve this issue. Thanks in advance. Device: iPhone 11 Software Version: 13.5.1 [link] [comments] |
Dropped my phone in a pool..what can I do? Posted: 01 Jun 2020 12:10 PM PDT I Dropped my phone in a pool for about 10 seconds, immediately pulled it out. The screen turned on so I figured it was fine. A few minutes later I went to check and the screen would only turn on for a few seconds (apple logo) then shut off. I tried this twice, then left it alone overnight. Brought it to a local repair shop, they vacuumed the water out and changed some parts but eventually said there's nothing they can do...is there any way I can recover all my date (pictures, videos, messages)? I did not have it backed up unfortunately. Thank you. [link] [comments] |

iPhone 11 stuck on Snapchat (can't access other apps, go to Home Screen, nor hard reset) Posted: 01 Jun 2020 11:59 AM PDT My iPhone is acting up. I decided to swipe up Snapchat after it froze and I couldn't send a photo. I opened the app again, it's stuck on the dim loading screen. I've tried doing the soft/hard reset (volume button + power button) and it won't show the shut down UI. I can't even access other apps to get out of Snapchat. Please help! [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7 instantly becomes dimmer Posted: 01 Jun 2020 11:56 AM PDT My iPhone 7 keeps instantly getting dimmer, and I can't get it to go back. It's dimmer even though it's on max brightness, but after a while it snaps back. I know it's not auto brightness because I've already turned it off. Help? Edit: running 13.5 and it happens maybe every other day [link] [comments] |
iPhone 6 repeatedly revoking access Posted: 01 Jun 2020 05:46 AM PDT My phone keeps revoking access to camera/microphone/photo album etc on all apps. I can't get access back until I fully turn my phone off and on again. Really frustrating, not sure what to do. [link] [comments] |
Help! iPhone 6s Plus Refuses to Charge Posted: 01 Jun 2020 07:16 AM PDT Hey guys, I'm on 2% right now. My phone just won't charge, no matter what I do. It started a couple weeks ago, when I was using my Apple certified charger and charging block. It started to say that this accessory may not be supported. Of course, I've seen that alert before on different devices. I assumed the charger wasn't working and tried out several different chargers I bought at Walmart. I used one for about 2 weeks that worked perfectly. I'm trying to use that one right now but it's not charging at all. I bought this phone factory sealed back in December. It's pretty much new. I've cleaned out the charging port and used multiple different chargers and charging blocks at this point. What can I do? Nothing seems to be working. Btw, I live in the United States, and bought the phone in the United States. Like I said, the phone was sealed in the box, had never been opened or anything, but it is a IPhone 6 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jun 2020 04:53 AM PDT I was wondering if I install powerpoints with usbs on them how fast my phone and iPad would charge because I'm looking to get a bedside table and it would be nice not to have a brick behind it. So how many watts, or is it just slow and not worth it [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7/Plus microphone and other issues. Posted: 01 Jun 2020 03:47 AM PDT My iPhone 7 Plus 256GB, A1661 to be exact, has microphone/headphone adapter issues as well as camera issues. I can not make phone calls, Siri, or anything requiring a microphone. I have my AirPod Pros thank goodness. I can't even take pictures with it. The camera doesn't take the picture at all or will literally take 15 seconds to actual take the picture, and forget using flash. Not an option at the moment. I've restarted it, no change. I've soft rebooted, still no change. I completely erased and restored it from an older backup, which helped the microphone for a brief moment then everything went back to normal. I had the microphone issue on my original before I got this refurbished unit from Verizon and now it's the same thing. I LOVE my 7 Plus. At 87% battery capacity I still get almost 10 hours of use, and that's with 3+ hours of WiFi video streaming. So my question is are these normal things for this model to have? My 6 never had issues and my 4S only had the speaker go out. [link] [comments] |
