New iOS Games out this week - 6/25/2020

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 08:56 PM PDT

Another new week is upon us, here's what's new this week in the world of gaming on iOS. Here's also a link to TouchArcade for the source, and for those who just want links without having to visit an external site the list is down below. Enjoy, and have fun gaming.

Going to try and change up how I write up the list of games with a small but new format. It will go something like this: Game Name - Price of Game/IAP: Yes or No/Category/Size.

Is there a hinged iOS controller with integrated wireless charging?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 06:19 AM PDT

I currently use an iPega PG-9021, which (ignoring the cheap build quality) works really well. The problem is that I play a lot of emulated Wii games and Oceanhorn 2 @ 60fps (which isn't even officially supported on my iPhone 8). This burns through the battery like crazy, and I feel like having to hold my phone near a plug defeats the purpose of a hinged controller. Any solutions?

    Searching for an old game

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 02:58 AM PDT

    Hi, everyone

I remember 7+ years ago, I had a spaceship game where you clear out waves in a map. Unlike current games , you can travel around the map and move freely. You have a lot of different upgrades and equipment each have different graphics. The game graphics were really smooth as if it was a normal pc game. I don't remember its name but every once in a while I try to find it.

I'm desperately bored with this quarantine, anyone knows what's the name of the game?

Total War: ELYSIUM First Look, Free to play strategy card game for iOS

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 07:00 AM PDT

This is a showcase of the newest addition to the Total War franchise, a strategy card game, called Total War ELYSIUM, which will be playable on iOS. It is free-to-play with an in-game store which doesn't offer anything besides saving time in unlocking new generals and cards. These playable generals and their units are all from different historical periods and nations. The board features two battle lines and combat is much more dynamic then in other CCG.

Generals from across history and Total War titles are brought together to go head to head in epic showdowns. Experience countless exciting battles, build masterful decks, and dominate the battlefield as history's most famous leaders fight to claim the ultimate mastery of war. Welcome to Elysium.

    https://youtu.be/Hzc_spvqRAQ

How do I sign up for beta access? Use this link: https://www.totalwarelysium.com/sign-up.html Note that this does not guarantee access.

Elysium is a completely different type of CCG. It has:

    - Decks with only 18 cards, and 1 of each for easier deckbuilding

    - The most famous and popular Generals and factions from history

    - The ability to pick which 9 cards you want in your deck every 7 turns

    - 2 battle lines to organize your forces strategically

Elysium is for CCG and strategy fans who are interested in a historical-based CCG, but also one with new and unique mechanics like Daybreak, and a new level of accessibility with easier deck-building and easy-to-understand cards, meaning you'll be ready for the battle in no time. For example, everyone knows that a cavalry unit will be effective against archers! ELYSIUM's battle line mechanics and mid-game deck editing brings the feeling of the battlefield to the CCG board.

Daybreak allows you to bring in reserves mid game in order to adapt your strategy on the fly. If your opponent has built up a strong line of archers, it's time for you to send in the cavalry! But remember to keep thinking ahead, planning your strategy, and adapting to each and every battle. Some cards' true strength can only be utilized at certain times of day, growing stronger over time or otherwise dealing devastating blows to your opponent before retreating back to your hand. There will be well over 500 cards and 10 Generals at launch, potentially more depending on how long the beta lasts. Currently there is PVP and versus AI modes in the game but here will be more added, some which will be familiar to fans of CCGs and some that are brand new.

Through the game's level up rewards you will gain card packs, Amethyst, and Gold, which you will also earn through daily quests. This is to make sure that you are able to earn plenty of new cards and generals without spending a thing. Cards can be earned through leveling up rewards, as well as through packs that can be bought with in-game currency. Battle Packs will also be available through in-game purchases. All boxes will tell you exactly the rarity of cards you will receive.

Total War games will still release as normal – the Elysium team is completely separate. The plan is to share content across titles, so any new historical Total War game could mean new content in Elysium. Heroes, Generals and units will enter Elysium in their own unique way.

    iOS Minimum Requirements:

Hardware iPad Air or newer, iPad (2017) or newer, iPad Pro, iPad mini 2 or newer, iPhone6S or newer, iPod Touch 6 or newer. Operating System iOS 11 or later.

    Miyamoto appreciation thread

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 12:53 PM PDT

I've played lots of games and saw Miyamoto when it first came out but never picked it up, since some reviews weren't too generous to it.

Well I ended up getting it the other day and it's fantastic! The presentation is perfect, the strategy is actually really deep and the style is top notch. I'm loving it and still haven't completed it.

If you're into roguelikes or strategy games, and if you have the patience for games like Chess or enjoyed the presentation or minimalist approach of say Bleak Sword, two dots, or Mini Metro I highly recommend this title and honestly I don't think it gets enough attention.

Back in the day there wa at his game called iFootball...

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 04:21 PM PDT

Me and my brother were addicted, this had to be around 2008-2010 during the iPod touch days.

It was an online PvP turn based soccer game where you used pucks to hit the ball. I know there are a bunch of games out there that copied the concept, but this game was cool because their were rankings and if you won/loss you'd gain/lose points and try to work your way up to the top rankings while being matched with people with similar ranks.

Maybe it was cool because their were only a couple thousand people ranked or so , so it was easy to fight your way into the top 100 idk.

But is their a game like this but with the ranking concept online?

    Best survival game?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 03:51 PM PDT

I played a game "The Long Dark" and I really enjoyed the demo of what I played back in the day. I'm looking for something similar on iOS. Preferably similar graphics (although it's not a contingency) but the core gameplay is what I'm looking for. Simple, straight to the point, and the mechanics of that game were delightful. Looking for that open world feel if possible, also 3D.

Which survival games would you suggest? Playing on 2020 iPad Pro, I would prefer it to fit full screen.

    7th Guest disappointed me

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 10:45 AM PDT

I played a bit of 7th Guest and I was really disappointed with it. I thought that it would be an adventure game in the more classic sense, but I think that the puzzles in it overwhelm it, and me. When I reached the maze puzzle and saw how difficult it is to solve, I just gave up. It wasn't entertaining. To see what I like, I'm currently playing Beneath a Steel Sky Remastered. This is more to my liking.

What I should have done was to watch a bit on YouTube before making up my mind to buy it.

How do you decide if a game is worth buying?
