| Posted: 25 Feb 2020 09:36 PM PST My wife was having issues with her phone so I decided to do a backup and restore for her. The home button is broken but we managed to get all the way to installing the backup. The way we even got past the activation screen was to turn the phone off and back on and it opened on the activation screen rather than the hello screen asking to press the home button. After installing the backup the phone is being forced to update through pressing the home button which again does not work. Installing the backup brought the virtual home button up on the screen but that isn't able to be tapped or moved at all. Turning the phone off and back on does not bypass this "press home button to upgrade" screen. So I am wondering first and foremost if there is a way to bypass this update as we do not want the update at all. She was still on iOS 12 due to her luck so she would rather not go up to iOS 13 as she is not a gamer and has no need for the game pad access or any of the gimmicks involved with iOS 13. But if there is no way to bypass the update I am wondering if there is a way to go through with the update because although she doesn't want it, I believe a working phone is better than no phone at all even if she doesn't want the update if updating is the only way to use the phone she would be willing to bite the bullet I found out after some convincing, so that is why I asked for a bypass before a fix. I ended up fixing the problem by taking an old iPhone 5S and taking it apart in order to get the home button out and replaced the home button in my wife's SE. also just another update, it did not really update it just said it was as placeholder text. | Posted: 25 Feb 2020 08:19 PM PST This might be an issue with my cell provider because my other Apple devices other than my phone don't have this issue, but does anyone know if there are supposed to be issues with location settings on Maps? It'll show my current location a fraction of the time, then at other times, my current location will vary, (but typically be in around five regions ranging in distance from inside a specific building at my uni that I'm never in/campus apartments when I'm clearly off-campus)? Almost took the wrong bus, and was very confused, so I wanted to see why I was having this issue. *I'd also like to emphasize that I'm never using campus wifi, this is on cellular data [link] [comments]  |

| Pulling pictures and videos off iPhone Posted: 25 Feb 2020 07:55 PM PST My wife is trying to pull videos and photos off her iPhone and store them on our computer, and terabyte drive. She has an iPhone 6. We have a windows computer. She is really struggling with the amount of time and effort she is putting into this and she is still seeing some images and videos on her iPhone that are not on the computer after syncing. Therefore she is nervous about deleting the pictures and videos off her phone. Her iPhone is a 64 GB and is at 63.8 GB used up, in mainly pictures and videos. (Over 3,000 pictures and over 500 videos). Does anyone know a faster and more efficient way of fixing this problem, other than buying a MacBook? We currently don't have the disposable income and it is seemingly the only advice we can find. Also, the videos and pictures are important to her. They are both of our children, both under 3. | Posted: 25 Feb 2020 04:06 PM PST I had a calendar event pop up on my iPhone saying that my location is being shared. It said the event would start in 15 minutes at 4 pm (it's now 4:03 as I'm typing) next to calendar it has an orange dot and says "My Movies". I tried to delete the event but it wouldn't let me. Now at 4:05 the event disappeared as I was looking at it on the calendar again. Has this happened to anyone else before? Should I be concerned? [link] [comments]  |

| iPhone won't turn on nor download apps Posted: 25 Feb 2020 02:14 PM PST As simple as it sounds. I tried to download a new app to my phone today and it worked, later the same day I tried downloading another app but this time the gray circle keeps on spinning and if I try to restart the phone it won't start up again unless I'm using a charger or I "force restart" it. Also, when it starts up I get the same error message for a song I tried to buy for my ringtone. EDIT: I have tried a pretty much everything I found on the first and a half pages of google. I know threres a way to turn it off and to change the number the code will be sent to but I can't do that from my iPad because they want another fucking verification code that I don't have a trusted device for ? | Posted: 25 Feb 2020 01:10 PM PST Since upgrading to 12.4.1 on 6 I get an insufficient space message when trying to download an app even though Settings>iPhone Storage tells me I have plenty of space for it. I'm very nervous about resetting from a backup. The huge "Other" section is a mystery: I have very few apps and delete their data regularly. The only thing I can think to try is deleting Safari "history and website data" to free up even more space but I have a lot of open windows I don't want to lose under any circumstances. It wouldn't let me upload any photos. Pretty much any app that involved photos I couldn't use or send any pictures via text on my phone (yes I have checked the privacy settings) I've tried restarting, my phone that didn't work, so then I logged out of my Apple ID on my phone then logged back in and all my photos are wiped out. I know for fact they were saved on the cloud because they'll pop up on both my iPad and phone. Unfortunately the iPad is broke so I can't even get the pictures I want on there anymore. Idk if I messed up but I put a brand new sim in the new iPhone and logged in with the Apple ID on the current iPhone I'm also trying to get a new phone number iCloud storage is near full Most of my notes and photos from the current iPhone have moved to the new one but quite a lot are still missing. It's almost as if the backup was an older one so not everything recent is there. I also deleted a lot of old photos on my current iPhone but they still show up in the new iPhone? Any help? So how do I basically sync the photos and notes of the two phones Also if I set up a brand new Apple Id the new phone can I somehow still transfer the pics and notes from the old to the new? When I turn it on, the screen works and emits light, but I can't see anything legible whatsoever. I remote wiped the iPhone using Find my iPhone and disconnected it from my iCloud. I want to sell it for spare parts (it's a XS so might have a little value) but I'm a bit worried about selling it to someone who might be able to extract the data if it has not been wiped properly. Does anyone know if there is any way to check that it has actually been erased? I've thought about plugging it directly into my TV using a lightning > HDMI cable, but does anyone know if this works? | RAM management issues when taking pictures Posted: 25 Feb 2020 02:17 AM PST Hello everyone, I've been dealing with some weird RAM management issues lately. iOS 13.3 seemed to fix the well-known aggressive app management that was an issue before, but for a while I've been noticing that all the apps that I have in memory tend to restart whenever I take a picture with the camera. I've been looking around the internet, and I've seen a few other people mentioning it - but I'm not sure what to do. Is it an iOS 13.3/13.3.1 bug and I should just wait for iOS 13.4 and a fix?
