Macbook air 2013 backlight issue. Screen or Motherboard? Posted: 09 Feb 2020 12:23 AM PST So a client brought in a 2013 13" MBA which went from stage lighting to backlight failure. After checking it seems to be a 50/50 split between a motherboard component failure and the screen. The motherboard was recently repaired for another issue but doesn't show signs of water damage etc. The metal corners of the screen show signs of damage. So what do you think Screen or Motherboard? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 08:50 PM PST I recently used my friend charger which had paint on it to charge my MBP but it smelt burnt so i stoped using it and the next day i charged my MBP with my own charger but the port and the charger smelt burnt a few sec after I used it, I then waited a bit (2 hours) and then I charged my MBP with the second port, I had some issues at the beginning but then it charged and for once didn't smell anything and I continued using; I waited a few days to then try again with another charger (with no paint on it) at first it didn't charge but when it actually did it was for only few milisecond to then charge, the problem was I could clearly smell the burn on the port and the charger tip. If any of you knew what I'm suppose to do in that situation it would be nice, (also please tell me if it's urgent to see a guy at an AppleStore)? [link] [comments]
Does your 16in MBP get smudged by hand oils on keyboard when lid is closed? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 12:45 PM PST I noticed a regular pattern of smudges on my screen recently and realized that it follows the keys on the keyboard exactly. It must be residual oils from my hands that are on the keys as I use them. I'm betting the rubber bumper along the screen is too low to prevent this as opposed to my previous 2015 model. Was this present in the 2016-2018 MBPs too? [link] [comments]
Is it a good idea to get Macbook Pro 16 for Windows 10 for $5000? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 04:28 PM PST Hey Guys, I've never owned a macbook or any other apple product besides Iphone 3Gs. I have been looking for a really good laptop for a while, I've always liked the asthetics and look of apple laptops but I prefer to use Windows. I have been waiting for the new Dell redesign of XPS15 notebook line but I don't see it coming anytime soon. I'm a huge fan of the 16" display on the new macbook pro. I've priced out a a macbook with the following specs for roughly $5000 CAD
My question is, if I run bootcamp on it, will it rival any other Windows dedicated laptop? And I have no experience running bootcamp. Will all the macbook features work with windows, like proper brightness control, proper speaker volume, the touchbar etc.? Am I better off buying a Windows dedicated machine? Thanks [link] [comments]
Would installing High Sierra in an external devicenupdate the bootrom? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 01:53 PM PST So I'm thinking about buying a MacBook Pro Mid 2014, however it doesnt have an SSD, so I know I can buy an adapter to use an NVMe SSD, however the machine was updated up to Mavericks If I install High Sierra on an external drive, would that update the BootROM so I can boot APFS and NVMe drives? Screen looks foggy when watching movies Posted: 08 Feb 2020 01:34 PM PST Hi Reddit! I saw on google there's a difference between MacBook Airs with a Samsung and a LG display, mine is Samsung. I also already calibrated my screen in expert mode, but I might not have done that the best way. I hope I gave enough information, any input is appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Feb 2020 12:44 PM PST Hi all. I just managed to get my hands on a 2015 12" MacBook for a great price. My question is related to using a hub with it. Can I use a USB C hub for ethernet and HDMI out at the same time on battery power only? [link] [comments]
Want to upgrade my mid 2014 15" MacBook pros ssd. Looking for advice. Posted: 08 Feb 2020 11:13 AM PST Want to upgrade to a 512gb ssd. I'm finding conflicting articles on what exactly I need. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Does anybody use MacBook Air to program? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 07:19 AM PST I do some web dev and want to build some mobile apps. Also want to do graphic design and video editing. Not anything too high end just yet, but just to get started. Has anyone run into any serious issues or problems that affect workflow? [link] [comments]
late 2011 MacBook Pro - external display not working through ThinkPad USB-C hub Posted: 08 Feb 2020 10:10 AM PST Hi everyone, A friend of mine is trying to connect to 2 external monitors to his late 2011 13" MacBook Pro via the Lenovo ThinkPad USB-C dock. His regular work PC laptop can display dual monitors through it (basically, the 2 monitors are hooked into this hub, and then the hub connects to this PC via USB-C). Since the Mac only has a thunderbolt port, we are using the following sequence: Macbook -> thunderbolt cable -> Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt adapter -> ThinkPad USB-C hub (where the thunderbolt 3 USB-C to thunderbolt adapter plugs in via USB-C). Is it going to be possible for him to get his monitors working to use his Mac in clamshell mode where he can use his MBP as a desktop? When we connected it all, the Mac is not recognizing the external monitors. Not sure if it's a compatibility issue with the hub or if we are connecting something wrong. Any help is appreciated. Thank you. [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 Feb 2020 09:10 AM PST I have a Magic Mouse, but I'm not a big fan of the form factor. I also have a Razer Imperator (a few years old) and it's working well, but it's a cabled mouse and I would like a mouse that ideally is wireless and has its own chargeable battery inside that I either connect to the Mac or to a stand of its own to charge. I was looking at the wireless offerings from Razer, and was wondering if anyone had experience with them and if the bluetooth connector would sit flush with the side of the MacBook once connected. I was also looking at the Logitech offerings (both the gaming optioning and the mx master series) and I'm afraid the MX master would be quite a heavy mouse but possibly I am wrong. My budget is about 150 euro I guess, I can go more if something is really a game changer. Thank you in advance for the help. [link] [comments]
Should I buy a new macbook pro? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 08:14 AM PST Hi, I'm looking for some advice.. I have a macbook pro 13" retina display from 2015, and I received an offer to buy a new model with discount (U$650 less than seller price). I don't have any issues with my current one, but am thinking it could be a nice upgrade. I am a bit attached to some of the 2015's features though, such as the soft keyboard :P and I'm not sure what to think of the touch bar. What do you say? Are the new ones that much better that it would justify the investment? Should i trade my current one for a newer one? And if so, do you have any recommendations on which model I should buy? Thanks! Help! Newly purchased MacBook Pro 16 inch using too much ram. Posted: 08 Feb 2020 04:26 AM PST I just purchased my new MacBook 16 inch yesterday. After setting up today, I noticed web browsing in safari isn't very smooth. There's like many tabs called Safari web content (cached) in the activity control and eating about 9/16 gb of my memory? Should I ask Apple to replace it? [link] [comments]
Isopropyl alcohol with moisturizer damage? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 01:40 AM PST I have the 13-inch 2019 MBP. As I was using the device, I noticed that the keys are a little bit sticky (sticky in the surface of the keys, not like the butterfly keyboard issue). I also saw different "marks" in the screen after I dusted the screen off a bit with my hands (dumb move, I know). I was wondering why the keys were sticky when I remembered that I used isopropyl rubbing alcohol WITH MOISTURIZER before using my device. Is there anything that I can do to remove the sticky feeling of the keys (my trackpad is a bit sticky too)? I'm afraid to close the device because of instances that I read about people damaging the screen after they applied rubbing alcohol. Although not directly, I'm afraid of the possibility of damaging my screen due to the rubbing alcohol in my keyboard. Also, how can I know if the whitish marks in my screen are normal finger/oilprints or damage? Noob macbook user here. Thanks a lot. [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Feb 2020 01:10 AM PST I have data I don't want to lose and I would be screwed if they wiped the macbook just to repair the keyboard. [link] [comments] |
