Loud short static noises when using bluetooth Posted: 17 Jan 2020 09:37 PM PST My mid 2012 macbook pro just started doing this thing where before and after audio plays (and i mean any audio) a loud scratching noise will play. Any idea what this is? [link] [comments]
Best past Macbook Pro models to purchase in 2020 Posted: 17 Jan 2020 01:07 PM PST Hello everyone, I have a Macbook Pro retina 13 inch early 2015. I got it brand new when it came out for ~$1200, and it serving me really well even until now, but I feel I need a new one since storage is very limited (128GB SSD) I really liked this model so I was just looking at eBay for the same year model with better specs, I found a refurbished Macbook Pro 15 inch core 15MBP/2.0-i7QuadCore/1TB SSD/16GB RAM for only $685, which I think is really good deal since its from a top rated plus seller and there's a free 3-year warranty (I can share the eBay link, but it is monstrously huge lol!). I am inquiring here since I don't know too much about differences between Macbook Pro models, and if there are models from the past that have significant pluses compared to what I'm trying to buy. I would really appreciate it if you could give me any advice or information. [link] [comments]
New Macbook Pro 16 inch feels slower compared to late 2013 model Posted: 17 Jan 2020 03:52 AM PST Hi, I bough a new Macbook Pro (16 inch, 2019) for Christmas to replace my old Macbook Pro 15 inch late 2013 and I feel like the new model is slower than the older one. The new mac takes around 13.66 s to boot and then 21,22 seconds to login after I enter the password and pressed enter: On the other macbook the boot took 8.13 s and the login 26.8 s. Both Macbooks use filevault and have a bootcamp partition, here are the specs: Macbook Pro (Retina, 15 inch, late 2013)
Macbook Pro (16 inch, 2019)
What really buzzes me is the boot time. I know that the new one is then faster to login but still, the 2 Macbooks are 6 years apart, shouldn't it make a difference? Why is the newer model "so much" slower? Am I only paranoid? Here is the Etrecheck report, but everything looks fine to me (I don't think that not configuring Time Machine makes that much of a difference) [link] [comments]
MacBook Pro Early 2019 Audio Issue Posted: 17 Jan 2020 04:26 PM PST My girlfriend recently got an early 2019 MacBook Pro, but she has been having some audio issues with it. Whenever we are on a video call, I am able to hear whatever audio she is playing, even if she has her headphones connected to the headphone jack. For example, if she is playing music through Spotify over her headphones, I can hear that music (being on the other side of this video call). I have searched Google but have not found any related solutions. [link] [comments]

Updated to Catalina, now apps won’t open and are non responsive Posted: 17 Jan 2020 04:09 PM PST Hello everyone. I updated my mid 2012 MacBook Pro (Ancient I know) to Catalina so I could install Resolve. I am aware that Catalina doesn't work with 32bit applications. I updated iMovie to the current version via the App Store as a sort of test run. When I start the app, it starts jumping as they do in the tray. The top bar says "IMovie" but the screen never opens. I right click the app at the bottom and it says not responding. It is doing this with most apps at this point. Does anyone have advice for this particular problem? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Jan 2020 06:45 AM PST Just got a MacBook Air for work. Love this thing. It's so small and nimble. Lifetime Windows user. Mind you, first Apple Computer — ever. I really love those functions at the top of the MacBook; i.e., Brightness, Keyboard light, Previous Song, Next Song, Play/Pause, Volume control, etc. I also really love my mechanical keyboard. The springiness feels oh so good on the fingertips, and the sound is extremely satisfying, like skateboard wheels rolling on brick. So my question for you all is: Can I use a mechanical keyboard for my MacBook Air and maintain the use of those nifty functions at the top? Can I map keys? [link] [comments]
2019 MacBook Air - Is it bad to use the display scaled as "More Space"? Posted: 17 Jan 2020 10:25 AM PST I remember when the retina displays came out years ago using them scaled wasn't really recommended, or System Preferences would display a warning about you may have reduced performance if you use a scaled display etc. I have the 2019 MacBook Air and had been using it at the "Default" scaling, but then was using my 16" MacBook Pro for the past month and now when I use the Air everything seems pretty big. So I set it to "More Space" which seems to make things size wise closer to the size they are on the 16" Pro, but just wondering if this impacts performance or anything. This machine is mostly used for office tasks, like Gmail, web browsing (lots of tabs open Chrome/Safari), with web design or web based programming a bit, but nothing graphically intensive or super CPU intensive. Doesn't feel any slower but wanted to check as the Air of course is less powered than the 16" so hate to lose too much more performance. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Jan 2020 01:06 PM PST Hi everyone, I'm interested in getting a Macbook but I'm not quite sure where to buy it from. I can do the Apple store, of course, or a place like Best Buy. Does the Apple store have payment plans? Is there any real benefit from purchasing directly from Apple? [link] [comments]
Docking Station for both TB2 and USB-C ? Posted: 17 Jan 2020 11:51 AM PST Wife owns a 2015 MacBook Pro with Mini DisplayPort TB2 ports. I have a Dell laptop with USB-C. Is there a docking station both of us could use? Ideally one that supports dual monitors. Thanks [link] [comments]
Should using a 4K external display cause the MacBook Pro 16" to get hot and have the fans on? Posted: 17 Jan 2020 10:13 AM PST I notice when I use the laptop by itself the fans are always silent, and the machine is really cool as well other than the bar above the Touch Bar which I never really touch. Whenever I'm connected to my USB C 4" LG monitor though, the machine is always hot especially on the palm rest and keyboard, and the fans seem to run pretty much all the time. It's rare they are completely silent. This is even with nothing displaying on the external display, such as right now where all windows are on the MacBook screen with only the desktop on the external. While writing this the fans were on with nothing on the external display, and I just unplugged the USB C and the fans are now off and the machine is cool to the touch. Just wondering if that's normal as if so I may look at getting an external keyboard and mouse when using an external display instead. [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Jan 2020 08:10 AM PST This is a work computer, so I can't do anything about it but tell someone. But has anyone ever seen their battery draining despite it being plugged in? After unplugging and plugging it in, it's finally on the upswing, but it's not the first time. But also not a chronic problem. [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Jan 2020 04:34 AM PST Hi, I need a new macbook pro, I don't need the latest, just a workhorse for work and some light video and image processing so will aim for a refurbished model. Is there a sweetspot in terms of generation/model/year to go for the price? [link] [comments]
Wifi not working with dual monitors + BT headphones Posted: 17 Jan 2020 12:10 AM PST So I noticed this weird issue with my MacBook. Whenever I have 2 monitors plugged in (which is quite often), and I connect my bluetooth headphones, my Wifi breaks. Usually it works for a few minutes, but then wifi just stops working until I reconnect it, or disconnect the headphones. If I don't have anything plugged in, it works fine. If I have one monitor plugged in, it works fine. I changed the order of services in my Network settings, but the issue persists. Any idea what's going on? I would take it in for service, but from my experience, they won't be able to replicate it and won't fix anything. [link] [comments] |
