Posted: 18 Jan 2020 07:27 PM PST When I go to device manager and plug in the USB, nothing happens. It doesn't show up anywhere. I've tried different cords and ports. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes multiple times. My latest installation I folowed this advice https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8506084 and made sure not to download it from the "Get it from Microsoft" link. I saw a thread on this from 3 years ago suggesting it should show up in my devices as an unspecified device but it doesn't. Anyone know how I can fix this? My iPad is locked and I need it to connect to the PC so I can restore it via iTunes. [link] [comments] |
iPhone 6s mic not working for voice memo, Snapchat, etc. But working perfectly for video. Posted: 18 Jan 2020 06:57 PM PST Does anyone know why? Or what I can do? The mic works on voice memo and stuff but it comes in really faint, as if I'm like 5 or more feet away from my phone. It's like that with every app that needs my mic, but it works fine for videos and phone calls. [link] [comments] |

Issues with using app store on macOS Posted: 18 Jan 2020 05:55 PM PST Hi all! Running Catalina 10.15.2 on Early 2014 MB Air and constantly getting iTunes is unable to process purchases at this time please try again later. The App Store worked with Mojave so I don't know what's going on.. I updated from 10.15 to 10.15.2 and that hasn't resolved it... Getting slightly annoyed with my computer and ready to throw it at the wall!!! Any help would be hugely appreciated!! [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro Mid 2017 battery not charging but still runs? please help Posted: 18 Jan 2020 09:25 PM PST up until about a week ago, my MacBook Pro (mid 2017) was working and charging perfectly fine. Then it died and wouldn't boot upon plugging in the usb c cable. I reset the SMC, which allowed the computer to boot, but it was using the power adapter as the power source. I reset the SMC again, and it switched back to the battery, and again would not charge. Currently I am using the power adapter as the power source, and my Mac doesn't show the battery icon in the top bar. I also can't use the backlit keyboard, and the fans are constantly blowing. The weird part is, I can use it unplugged for extended periods amount of time without it dying. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this, or do I need to take it in for a repair? Coming from an iPhone 8 should I get the XS or the 11? Posted: 18 Jan 2020 05:24 PM PST Planning on upgrading this week but not sure which one to choose. The XS feels more premium to me as it has an OLED screen and slimmer bezels, also I don't use the camera often so the better camera in the 11 isn't really interesting to me. I also prefer the smaller size of the XS. Only thing maybe is the battery which I've heard is not great on the XS. Thoughts on which one I should pick? [link] [comments] |
Broke phone; Have iCloud and backup; Only connected iCloud device is PC Posted: 18 Jan 2020 09:01 PM PST I broke my phone and can't get into it, and I didn't have my iCloud attached to any other Apple devices. I have iCloud backups but only on Windows. So I need help with two things: The first is if there is a way to download iCloud backups from the Windows application. The second is if there is a way to recover an overwritten photo gallery as I accidentally overwrote my photos with photos of a different account while trying to fix my problem. I would be very thankful if someone were able to help me. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Jan 2020 08:46 PM PST So, a relative got the newest iMac and gave me their 27-inch 2011 iMac running High Sierra. They formatted it to clear all their old stuff, then gave it a new password ("password1") before I got it. When I turned it on, since the computer thought it was new, it just had "Admin" as the username, so I logged in with "password1." I then started to fix the computer up to my liking, changing the admin account's password to "password2." Problems started when I attempted to change "Admin" to "Myname." I learned online that I had to Ctrl-click the Admin account in Users & Groups, change the name in the menu that came up, and then restart the computer for it to take effect. I did so, but when the computer turned back on, "Admin" was still the name of the only account that existed! Nevertheless, I was able to get in with "password2," and went right back to Users & Groups. I clicked the lock and was asked for an administrator's username and password as usual; and yet, no combination of "Admin," "Myname," "password1," or "password2" can get me in. Despite this, I was still able to get in when restarting my computer again; essentially, the computer only lets me into logins where it already knows I'm "Admin" and I only need to put in my password, but it doesn't let me into anything that would need me to type in "Admin" myself. I looked up a fix online and followed it: I restarted the computer, held down Cmd-R as it started back up to access Recovery Mode, opened Terminal, typed in "resetpassword," put in "password2," confirmed it, and logged in with "Admin" and "password2." Then I went back to Users & Groups, clicked the lock, and it still wouldn't let me in. Any idea what I have to do? [link] [comments] |

iPhone deletes messages without asking. Posted: 18 Jan 2020 03:37 PM PST My iPhone X does it and my dad's iPhone 6 does it. Both of our "keep messages" option is on "forever". Sometimes they'll delete messages from months ago and sometimes they'll delete messages from as little as 3 weeks. I never really worried too much about it, but my dad brought it to my attention. Does anyone have an answer on how to avoid that from happening? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Jan 2020 07:16 PM PST I just got the new 16 inch MBP, but I have a minor gripe: the time shows 0PM instead of 12PM by default and I can't seem to fix the issue through system preferences. Can someone help me fix this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Jan 2020 07:13 PM PST Hi, like I said my phone recently started requiring a card to download apps. It will not accept my current card. I went to my subscriptions, and it only shows one. It ended in September. However, it isn't giving me the choice to cancel it, only renew it from three options. The website for the app already has my subscription cancelled. What can I do to be able to use the App Store again? [link] [comments] |
Wireless Mic On Headphone Jack Mac / Imac Pro? Posted: 18 Jan 2020 06:52 PM PST I have a Rode Wireless Go System + Lavalier Mic. (I got the added Adapter, so that I can plug it directly into the audio Jack of my Android Phone. The three striped pin like most headphones have.) However when I plug this into my iMac Pro, it does not pic up a Microphone. (under System Pref > Sound > Input) I also tried with KDF Samsung Headphones (with built in mic) and Genuine Apple Headphones (with built in mic). So I'm wondering what's up? (Google lead me to believe I'm not the only one with this issue.) Is there a way to make this mic system work with my iMac Pro? [link] [comments] |

Every time I FaceTime someone while charging my iPhone, it overheats Posted: 18 Jan 2020 06:07 PM PST Whenever I FaceTime on my iPhone I plug in the phone if it's gonna be a long call. Between the heat from charging and I guess the processing power of FaceTime, the phone begins to overheat. The back of the phone gets very very hot to the touch (never painful but quite warm). The phone gets incredibly laggy from throttling but I haven't seen it shut off yet. I have an iPhone X. Is this expected behavior that you can't FaceTime and charge? Or is something wrong with my phone / it's getting old? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Network recovery boot to blank screen? Posted: 18 Jan 2020 01:27 PM PST I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with my in-laws MacBook Pro (A1286 - 15" Core I7) and I'm hoping someone here can help. I don't know which OS version it has, but I set it up for them with a SSD around August of 2017, so probably, Sierra or El Capitan. It starts booting with the Apple logo and the completion bar. When the bar grows to about half-way, I get an all white screen and after a minute or so of the fan ramping up to high speed, the machine reboots and repeats. Booting in verbose mode shows the *nix text scroll by too quickly to read and ends up at the same all-white screen. Trying to boot to safe mode, the completion bar gets to about 2/3 of the way but does the same thing although sometimes will stop at a blue screen with fine, vertical stripes. Single user mode gets me to a successful command prompt, and "fsck -fy" tells me that /dev/rdisks1s appears to be OK. Internet recovery mode also gets me (much more slowly) to the blue screen with stripes and screaming fan (and hot case). What can I do to identify the problem? Is the fact that I can't boot into Internet Recovery Mode an indicator that this machine is toast (even if the drive is testing OK)? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Audio output keeps switching between USB-C Monitor and Internal MacBook Speakers Posted: 18 Jan 2020 05:02 PM PST Hi all, I'm using the newest revision of the LG 5K Ultrafine Display with my 12in MacBook (so it's running over USB-C instead of Thunderbolt 3 and is limited to 4K). Video output is consistent, but I've been dealing with an issue where the audio output is cycling between the LG Display and my MacBook (about every 10 seconds or so). It looks like the LG Display cycles in and out of being a recognized audio output. I've tried creating a "multi output device" in Audio MIDI setup, but I can't seem to get it to stick. I've also done an SMC and NVRAM reset. Any tips on what I should do? [link] [comments] |
Trying to copy pictures from iPhone X to PC Posted: 18 Jan 2020 04:41 PM PST I'm trying to transfer pictures from iPhone to PC by copy pasting or drag and dropping, but it just stops after a while. How do I transfer them? [link] [comments] |
Why can't I add downloaded AAC files onto Itunes on my windows pc? Posted: 18 Jan 2020 04:36 PM PST I've downloaded music from youtube and saved them as AAC files. I can play the music off the default player on my laptop, but I cannot migrate them to iTunes. In the past I've downloaded and moved mp3's and those work fine... Is there something wrong with my AAC files? Or does Itunes not accept foreign AAC files? Please help, I've downloaded so many files as AAC, I don't want to have wasted my time. [link] [comments] |

Estimate costs to repair 3 issues on MBP 2016 Model Posted: 18 Jan 2020 03:55 PM PST The repairs I need on my MBP 13inch 2016 model involve: Replace Battery. Replace Top Case with Keyboard. Repair ribbon cable or motherboard (This is to fix a screen issue. After a half dozen hours, red pixel death comes up about an inch from the bottom bezel) I want to know a rough estimate of the cost to repair my laptop, instead of having to pay for their quote. I went to an Apple Service Provider just to ask for rough price and he said that due to getting the screen replaced by a computer repair shop that isn't Apple affiliated, I'll have to pay up quite a lot so they can replace the pieces they used with Apple branded pieces (Screen and maybe components of the motherboard -- I got my screen replaced to fix the blown back light) Should I pay up how ever many $100s maybe $1000, or trade the computer for an oldish Android flagship phone, and spend that $800 - $1250 on a new or used Windows laptop or possible PC? I'm leaning on the latter because I want change, to see what other devices are like [link] [comments] |
