My OS has been getting glitchy, so I wanted to do a reinstall. After restarting while holding the alt/opt key, I get to the familiar menu but when I scan through the list of places to re-install the OS, the external HD where the OS is located is nowhere to be found. I don't get it. Is there a way to go through Terminal to reinstall the OS? Or, do you have any other suggestions? [link] [comments]  |

But everytimw I tap to download it nothing happens, and there is also now reviews. Is this a glitch or did some update happen that I didn't realize. | Help my macbook keeps crashing Posted: 04 Dec 2019 10:10 PM PST As of recently my Mac crashing pretty regularly. First a program will stop working, then the operating system will stop working. Some times I get the spinning wheel of death. Usually I have to restart it myself other times it will reset itself. I noticed that it happens when the computer is on my lap or when Im moving the computer around too much. Today when it restarted it asked me if i wanted to send the report to apple which I decided to do. I clicked through and it showed me the report. Have you heard of any troubles when buying an unusually expensive (for a student) MacBook, such as a new 16" with upgrades for 5k$? | Connecting Pre Thunderbolt Apple Monitor to PC Posted: 04 Dec 2019 09:13 PM PST Hi, I have the Apple Monitor with the Mini-Display Port LED Monitor (pre Thunderbolt). I want to connect it to a PC that has HDMI and DisplayPort connection. I cannot find the right adapter. Essentially, the monitor already has a mini Display Port coming directly from the monitor out. | Switched from iPhone 6 to iPhone 11 pro max, and I'm having iCloud issues! Posted: 04 Dec 2019 05:06 PM PST Hey everyone, So i recently switched over and have found that all my pictures/and text messages are up-to-date but my contacts aren't, meaning I have all my texts but only 10% of them have names, the rest are just the numbers. Also my notes aren't fully synced(I'm guessing this is from a back-up that I did a few years ago). Background: I bought the 50gb iCloud storage. Backed everything up on my 6s and then made the switch. And all of the apps(messages/contacts) that I wanted to switch over are highlighted. How can I switch over my contacts' names and notes? | HELP iTunes/Macbook 'loved' songs query Posted: 04 Dec 2019 07:22 PM PST Hello, I get through lots of music and often only find a decent song or two which I'd like to keep instead of deleting the whole album. Currently the only way to save the preferred tracks is to manually go into the folder and move them into a separate folder (Zzarious Artists) which I never delete. I also use the 'Love' feature in iTunes and on my iPhone. I want to have all my loved songs on my phone but I often first listen to albums on my Mac. Is there any way that the 'love' feature somehow marks the song, in a way that can be searched via Terminal? That way I could search for all loved songs, cut paste and delete the excess albums from the Music folder? Does that make sense? Any help would be greatly appreciated. But i can't delete it now for some reason. I have tried Getting rid of content restriction and turned off parental controls. Has did it on a bunch of apps at one time before too. The apps are crashing. I dont reset it much or power off, and when I do a hard reset, seems to help. Google browsing is the worst one. | Any easy way to access photos from iPad in Finder menu Posted: 04 Dec 2019 12:26 PM PST I'm trying to help a relative do some work on their mac. They have pictures taken on an iPad which they want to post on Ebay. The problem is that Apple imports these in to Photos which is largely useless to non-techie users. The steps that I can find are import them to Photos, then copy them over to downloads and hope they go into a usable folder and then hope that someone can find them. Is there not a way to just have a Photos folder in Finder that all of the pictures would sync in to? I need something that is usable for non-computer people as I'm not going to be tech support for them. Any ideas appreciated. [link] [comments]  |
| Monitor problem while docking MacBooks Posted: 04 Dec 2019 06:23 PM PST Frequently when I plug in my MacBook dock, my external monitor won't come up while every other connected peripheral will work. I'll disconnect it and reconnect and SOMETIMES it comes up. Other times I'll need to switch around which USB-C port I'm using and eventually it (may) come up. Initially I experienced this using my Stone Henge Dock at work with my 2018 MacBook Pro. I just got a new 2019 MacBook Pro at home and am now experiencing the same behavior with my OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock. Sometimes I'll have to completely reboot the laptop for it to recognize the monitor. Same type of behavior, two separate MacBooks and docks. | Posted: 04 Dec 2019 06:03 PM PST When trying to view images on browsers (have tried both chrome and Firefox) they are so zoomed in that most is cut off, requiring me to scroll down to see the rest. They are so big that I can't pinch-zoom them out enough to fit the whole thing at once. No setting I've been able to find helps this, and I can't get the images to stay zoomed out. | external keyboard fn key functions Posted: 04 Dec 2019 05:40 PM PST Hello, im currently on version 10.15.1 of Catalina, and using an external tkl keyboard. The issues im having is that functionality of the fn keys (f1-f12) on the keyboard, as they don't do anything. I've tried messing with the fn settings in keyboard settings but no luck. I'm certain the keyboard is working because I built it myself and inputs are showing on keyboard testing sites. What I want is the function keys to control screen brightness, volume, etc. At the moment, hitting them in macos does literally nothing, (except f12 which opens inspect element).
