Mid 2012 MAcBook Pro for $200

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 03:51 PM PST

On Macbook, the WH1000XM3 stay "connected" yet the Mac switches to Internal Speakers. No other BT headphones have this issue with the Macbook. Has anyone had this issue with their Macbook and other Bluetooth headphones? If so, any troubleshooting would be helpful.

Has anyone had this issue since upgrading to Catalina? This has been extremely frustrating and is pushing me towards choosing another laptop provider when the time comes for a new one.

Macbook Pro 13 Retina 2014 vs Macbook Pro 13 2019 Battery life, will I notice a difference upgrading?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 06:17 PM PST

I bought a mid 2014 base spec macbook pro, i5, 8gb, 128gb. It had a new battery fitted and I'm finding the battery life v poor with just usual web browsing

Is there a big difference between the battery life on the 2014 model vs the new base 1.4ghz 2019 model with touchbar?

Which 13 inch or less macbook is the king in terms of battery life? I really need something with a good battery

    Cheers

    Keyboard and Trackpad Disconnecting [how?]

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 07:34 PM PST

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro and whenever I wake it up (via opening it) my keyboard and trackpad disconnect... even though the are hard-lined to the computer... because its a laptop.

Upon waking it up all of my I/O is locked out and unresponsive for at least a minute, all the while i get a notice on my display that there is no keyboard or mouse connected and that its searching for one on Bluetooth, before it remembers that it does in fact have a keyboard and also a trackpad.

I love my MacBook but this is really annoying, if any of you have any suggestions please let me know

    thanks.

If i have Transmission (torrents) running, and i close the lid, the torrents stop. Any way to prevent the mac from sleeping?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 11:06 AM PST

I know it's a safety feature so that it doesn't overheat with the lid closed, but does that mean that the only way to torrent overnight is to have the lid open?

    Budget setup for media production

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 03:07 PM PST

Don't know if this the right place to post this, but I'm looking for my first macbook (using windows right now), primarily for media production (music and video). I want to get an older used model, and I wanted to know which ones I should look into.

    Is this deal worth it?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 03:06 PM PST

My local Best Buy has a 15" MacBook Pro with a 6-core i7 processor and 16gb of RAM for $1680 (This is an open floor model). The screen has one minor scratch on it that is only viewable in the sun. Otherwise, the MacBook is pretty much in brand new condition (It wasn't on the floor for very long). This MacBook is going to mainly be used for xCode programming. Is this worth the price?

Is the MacBook 2015 15” (A1398) still a powerful enough laptop to use today?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 03:23 AM PST

I'm interested in buying one for college and wanna know if it will still hold up with doing tasks. Does the screen look just as good as the newer models? Also, is it stronger than a 2017 MBP w/ Touch Bar?

Specs: 16GB of ram, 1TB ssd, AMD Radeon R9 M370X Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200, PCIe SSD 2.0 x4

What I will use it for:

    • Everyday activities like Netflix, YouTube, internet browsing etc.
    • School work like PowerPoint presentations, google docs
    • Downloading movies and music

    Thank you.

MacBook Air 2018/2019 vs MacBook Pro 2017

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 01:21 PM PST

Hello! I have the opportunity to buy one of these macbooks. I was wonder which is more bang for my buck and would last me longer. I would like to use for around 5 years. I am using the macbook mostly for browsing, PDFs, watching movies, editing gopro videos. I am upgrading from a 2013 Macbook Air. It gets sluggish when I have too many tabs and I have a horrible habit of having too many tabs open.

    2017 Macbook Pro 13" $650

    • 8GB RAM
    • 256 SSD
    • Core i5 2.3 GHz (Kaby Lake, 15 W)
    • Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640

    2018 Macbook Air 13" $650

    • 8GB RAM
    • 128 SSD
    • 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
    • Intel UHD Graphics 617

    2019 Macbook Air 13" $750

    • 16GB RAM
    • 128 SSD
    • 1.6GHz Intel Core i5-8210Y (dual-core, 4 threads, 4MB cache, up to 3.6GHz)
    • Intel UHD Graphics 617
    • AppleCare

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Silly question - is the MacBook Pro trackpad supposed to have 2 clicks?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 12:51 PM PST

    2019 MBP

If i click on the trackpad, I'm able to put more force and essentially feel 'another' deeper click. I never noticed that before?! Is this normal?

If basically acts as a double click if I go through the whole way.

    Thanks

    Opinions On Buying Floor Models?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 10:44 AM PST

I have an opportunity to buy a lightly used floor model of the 6 core i7 15 inch 256 GB Macbook Pro, only released and put on the floor around May of this year because it has just been replaced by the 16 inch released this month. The original educational pricing is about 2250 and it's discounted to 1680. It's in great condition and I actually work in the store that's selling it, we don't get a whole lot of traffic so I know it hasn't been used a ton. So I guess what I want to know is what your opinion on this is. Would you do it?

Help: Which 16 inch Macbook would be best?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 09:15 AM PST

I am looking to purchase the new 16 inch Macbook, but am finding it hard to decide which would be the best choice for needs (i.e would one configuration see sizable difference with the upgrade).

Use: Gaming (light .. i.e. league and starcraft; I dont really run anything super high end, maybe would download apex or fortnite - would the 4gb 5500 run these well, and if someones knowledable to explain how much of a difference the 8gb would be); internet browsing, word proccessing, video editing (some 4k, while more for personal use; I am hoping to do more higher end stuff with the new compute; some programming, but nothing particularly complex.

Option 1: Base 16 inch 8 core Macbook

Option 2 Base 16 inch 8 core Macbook, but would upgrade the graphic card to the 8gb one (would I see a significant difference with the upgrade, enough to warrant it)

    or

Option 3: Base16 inch 6 Core Macbook and upgrading the graphic card to the 8gb (as well as 1tb of storage)

I guess one other question would be, is the computer as good as the hype; I'm currently using a 2013 13 inch, which I love, but it is on its final breaths, so I would prefer to purchase now rather than later, but I feel this could inadvertently be pushing me to a wrong purchase. Therefore, any insight is appreciated.

Thank you for anyone who can help provide advice. I'm not the the most proficient in this area, so I apologize if I sound totally ignorant, I attempted to speak to apple store representatives, but they come off more as parrots than humans when answering questions.
