Posted: 20 Oct 2019 09:10 PM PDT Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles! As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store! To keep track of the thread, the comments are sorted by "new" by default. [link] [comments] |
3 Quick tl;dr iOS Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 37) Posted: 21 Oct 2019 02:08 AM PDT Happy Frida.... oh, sorry, Monday! Was away from home this weekend, so I figured I'd post my typical Friday post today instead. So here are my weekly tl;dr recommendations of the most interesting mobile games I played this week (only 3 this week because I wasn't around Friday). This week, covering a brand new collectible strategy card game with cross-play functionality, a street-football 3 versus 3 online multiplayer game, and a turn-based strategy RPG with a combat system not too unlike that found in the PC stratey "Heroes of Might and Magic" games. Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 37 weeks ago here. The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is. Here be the games:Mythgard [Game Size: 448 MB] (free)Genre: Card / CCG / Strategy - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Mythgard is a high-quality mobile & PC turn-based collectible strategy card game (CCG) with an enticing singleplayer campaign story and multiple multiplayer game-modes. Each card has unique abilities and attributes that make them feel distinct, which adds a lot of depth to the gameplay, and creates a ton of ways to combine cards in truly powerful ways. The combat system has been compared to that found in Magic the Gathering, and I found it to be one of the most enjoyable CCG experiences I've had on mobile so far. Winning a match provides us with silver, which we use to buy new card packs. Unlike most other mobile CCGs, while additional silver can be acquired through iAPs, there's no way to buy "premium" packs with higher chances of drawing better cards, which makes the monetization much fairer, as everything can be reasonably grinded. App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Extreme Football [Game Size: 635 MB] (free)Genre: Sports / Street Football / Soccer - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Extreme Football is a 3 versus 3 multiplayer street-football game in which each player controls a single player on the field, making the game easier to get into than a traditional football game where you control an entire team at once. When we've got ball possession, we can shoot for the goal, dribble to avoid losing ball control, or pass to another player, and when we're not in ball possession, we can tackle to steal the ball. The first team to get to 3 goals wins the game. The controls are simple, each player comes with unique attributes, like kick speed, kick angle, and a special ability, and the gameplay is fun and fast-paced. However, we unlock new heroes through free and paid lootboxes, and collecting more of the same player allows us to level it up, which makes it stronger. While everything can be grinded, this does make the game slightly pay-to-win, unless countered with a proper matchmaking system to ensure that stronger players only get matched against other stronger players - a bit like in Clash Royale. It doesn't seem the game currently has enough players for proper matchmaking (and we're most likely playing with bots). App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Braveland Heroes [Total Game Size: 135 MB] (free)Genre: RPG / Strategy / Turn-based - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Some tl;dr review: Braveland Heroes is a turn-based strategy RPG with a combat system reminiscent of the "Heroes of Might and Magic" (HoMM) PC games, which means a hex-grid playing field and units that deal more damage the more of them we have. Sadly, all battles are simply structured as levels in a linear campaign, which means no open-world to explore, and less strategy than HoMM. And although new equipment can be crafted and spells can be bought, doing so is a very grindy process unless we spend real-life money. The game's core issue, however, is that the only way to re-gain heroes lost during battle is through gold, but the only way to get more gold, is to win battles, which means we can essentially get stuck. At that point, we have to wait to get more free gold, or buy iAPs to continue. Any good games to play with a group of friends? Posted: 20 Oct 2019 09:32 PM PDT |
What kinds of games is Apple Arcade missing? Posted: 20 Oct 2019 02:04 PM PDT I feel the online multiplayer selection is a bit weak. Also, it could use some more very polished hyper-casual games like Hexaflip, some quick time wasters. I'd also like to see more simulators and RTS games. What types of games do you feel like are missing from Apple Arcade? Any genres you feel are lacking? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Oct 2019 05:54 PM PDT I see a lot of ads for games like rangers of oblivion and era of celestials, they are promising(rangers is actually pretty good for a mobile game) but they're held back by MTX and awkward controls. I've been waiting a very long time for runescape to come to iOS and it still hasn't. Yes I'm aware of old school runescape and as good as it is I am a bit burnt out. Don't care if it's real time or turn based or anything, just that you can go around a world and interact with other players in real time. Thank you in advance [link] [comments] |
Need a new offline RPG for gaming during my commute - 2x speed preferable Posted: 21 Oct 2019 07:08 AM PDT I just beat Final Fantasy 9 over the past month or two on the train to and from work. Mostly using speed up (which was a little TOO fast to be honest) it was a really fun experience that didn't suffer from what the original game did, which was super slow load times/battles. Can anyone recommend some other RPG ports that are good. Or original games. I enjoyed Grimvalor a lot too so if there are any new offerings similar to that, I'm open to it. [link] [comments] |
Looking for Free Offline ios Strategy game Posted: 21 Oct 2019 09:18 AM PDT Anyone got any decent recommendations? i like Everything from RTS to deck builders but need something I can play Offline. [link] [comments] |

I’m looking for an old text based game for iOS. Multidimensional thief. Posted: 21 Oct 2019 03:03 AM PDT iPhone 11. Running Frotz. The topic of text based games came up this weekend at my house. So I took a Wonkas boat ride down memory lane. I found this app called Frotz to get a few oldies. I found "browse IFDB" function in the app, so I search for MDT... found it!! It gives me an error "no z code content". Can anyone point me in the right direction? Do I need another app? Or do I need different files to play it? I really want to play this specific game. I'd rather do it on an app than a browser window. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Oct 2019 02:07 AM PDT What games do y'all play on your iPad? I wanna start using my iPad more seriously, and I'd like some good substantial games with LOTS of gameplay potential. [link] [comments] |
Game Club Info? Who’s tried it? Posted: 21 Oct 2019 01:53 AM PDT I suppose a beta is live, but I want t invited. I read that Breach & Clear was coming back and I'm absolutely desperate to play it again. Has anyone tried Game Club? Is B&C available? Any details when the rest of us will have access? Posted: 20 Oct 2019 11:40 PM PDT I remember playing a game on my mom's iPhone 3G but I can't remember the name. It was a town simulator. The graphics were very cartoony and pleasant looking. There were timers to build things and you built houses to gain villagers. The main resources that I remember were wood and stone. You could also buy expansions to the map using coins you gained to expand your city. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: the year would've been around 2010 [link] [comments] |
Can I get my friends Arcade access thru my account the same way I would share a paid app with them? Posted: 20 Oct 2019 11:29 AM PDT |
Posted: 21 Oct 2019 05:02 AM PDT Has anyone played? It doesn't look like my type of game but the ads are making me consider it 😂 Poor Death Knight 😠[link] [comments] |
Will we ever have L3 / R3 support on Console controllers? Posted: 20 Oct 2019 09:22 PM PDT |
Posted: 21 Oct 2019 12:49 AM PDT I keep getting the "you were removed from the game" error. I don't use a VPN, I wouldn't begin to know how to cheat, and my internet is fine. As soon as I jump, it crashed back to the lobby. [link] [comments] |
If you haven’t played Manifold Garden yet, I recommend you try it ASAP Posted: 20 Oct 2019 03:52 PM PDT https://apps.apple.com/us/app/manifold-garden/id1468951050 This game is quite mind blowing. Plays best with a controller and big screen. Hours of fun. [link] [comments] |
