Posted: 04 Sep 2019 12:51 AM PDT I've had nothing but problems with new 2019 macbook pro 1.4 for professional audio and video use. I saw that johnathan morrison video and was compelled to purchase this guy. Fans blasting, crazy Heat, Apps freezing, power issues. I can't run an interface and a display when they and the computer are all plugged into their own power units. Computer won't recognize both at the same time. Am I the only one experiencing this? Is the only solution to go up to 15 inch mbp? Any pros out there using a spec'd out 13 inch? really prefer that size for travel. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Sep 2019 07:02 PM PDT I really want to switch to a Macbook after being a windows guy my whole life. The thing is I need to run Premiere Pro for my new class in college. I heard Macbooks aren't the best at running Premiere Pro. Should I still get one and deal with the lag or should i just get a windows laptop? Water damaged MacBook in need of advice Posted: 03 Sep 2019 09:10 PM PDT Last night (10:30pm) I spilt a small amount of water into my MacBook Pro. It went between the screen and the keyboard where the vent is. I was able to wipe it off quickly and flipped it over. Some water came out. The laptop shit down. After trying to reboot it several hours after letting it dry in a hot room with the fan on, it booted up to a screen with a question marked folder. I turned the computer off and let it dry all night. This morning around 9:30am I tried booting it up with the power plugged in, and it booted up somewhat normally. I was able to open all my pages back to where they were before the water was spilt. I turned the laptop off and went to school. It is now 6:10pm and I have tried turning it on again. Once again it booted up fine, however, I notice that the battery icon is telling me to replace the battery. The laptop will only stay on and function if it is connected to power. I'm worried to keep it connected to power due to frying the battery or other components if there is water inside. I'm a broke college student and need this laptop to be successful. Should I get it professionally looked at? Has anyone heard of this before? Should I keep drying it and try again later? Anything helps... I'm in a real pickle with school here. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Sep 2019 04:52 PM PDT I've been considering a MacBook for college, I do software engineering. I've been looking at the 13" 2019 base model (currently €1460 with free beats) but I've also been looking at a second hand 15" 2017 model top spec (i7 7770HQ, 16gb, RX555, 512gb) for similar price (€1600) Which is the better deal and what should I go for? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 05:16 PM PDT Which model do you use and have you had any issues? I'm looking at a new MacBook but am tight on cash. My 2011 MacBook Pro 15" recently died. Is it worth the 16GB upgrade? Should I go for a Pro or will the Air suit me fine? [link] [comments]

Buy recommendation 2019 Macbook Air or 2017 Macbook pro. Posted: 03 Sep 2019 02:02 PM PDT Hello Macbook friends, She is a researcher so she travels a lot for work. Usually she has open ±10 chrome tabs, a few word documents, 1 or 2 power point, a hand full of PDF's and & a citrix receiver. That being said, what may fit her better? at glance the MB pro seems "faster" but I am not sure what processor generation it has compared to the newest air and what difference would it make considering her use, and what improvements would the new air would had over the 2017 MB pro. Thanks in advance for the suggestions :) [link] [comments]

Looking for advice organizing photo collection Posted: 03 Sep 2019 06:33 AM PDT My wife and I recently bought a MacBook and we are struggling to find the best approach to manage and organize our photos. We would like to put them on the computer and remove them from our phones. This is the first Apple computer we've used so we are definitely novices regarding such issues. We both have IPhones and her photos are currently being backed up via iCloud. We have an external HD we'd like to utilize as well. Any advice or tutorial links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Ridiculous amount of memory being used Posted: 03 Sep 2019 09:26 AM PDT At least 8GB of memory is being used on my MacBook Pro 2019 consistently. It has 16GB. I don't see why this is necessary, especially since my last MacBook had only 8GB with no memory problem. It seems that websites (the sites listing separate from Safari) and even Finder itself chow down on the memory usage. Also, WindowServer is using the most, being almost 2GB itself. One called systemmigrationb uses plenty and so on. It's really annoying, as the Mac can easily heat up. I previously talked about heat on reddit, but I'm specifically talking memory here because it didn't get any answer to even heat, let alone memory, and I can't find a real answer on Google. All I find are things to reduce memory usage that hardly, if ever apply to my Mac. [link] [comments]
Magnetic USB charger recommendations. Posted: 03 Sep 2019 03:10 AM PDT Does anyone have any recommendations for usb c magsafe style MacBook chargers? I want to get one of them but the ones I'm seeing on Amazon have some bad reviews. [link] [comments]
MacBook Pro 15 2016 Speaker Issue Posted: 03 Sep 2019 03:48 AM PDT Hi there fellow Mac users :DNew Redditor here.Recently I got myself a MacBook Pro 15 (2016)- used one from a friend. So far I love it, BUT- yesterday I noticed one very annoying thing- right speaker is not giving me a full range of sound. Left is fine. I did some troubleshooting and I didn't find anything super obvious. - I went to Sound in System Preferences and speaker balance is right in the middle.- Yes, I installed bootcamp, but I got the audio newest drivers. Problem occurs in both OSX and Win10 - I didn't spill anything on it ( I also trust my friend and he said that he didn't even eat near it - we all know what happens when piece of dust goes underneath butterfly keyboard)- Tried swapping speakers in Audio MIDI Setup- same result- right one is noticeably quieter.- No audible hissing, popping, discharge sounds etc I might add that I'm using a case with magnets in it. Not very strong, 2 small ones just to hold the flap. The issue is super tiny and most people wouldn't mind, but I'm getting frustrated whenever I listen to music. Sadly I don't have Apple Care and warranty is expired. Anyone experienced anything like it? Thanks! Notice right speaker being quieter and not playing low end notes :C [link] [comments]
MacBook Pro and eGPU Running Application Behavior Posted: 03 Sep 2019 03:20 AM PDT I'm looking to buy a new MacBook Pro, to use with my eGPU, as I had so many problems with my DELL laptop, that I had to ask for a refund. One behavior that I see in Windows, is that when I change from the integrated Intel GPU to the eGPU, Windows close all my applications, which is very annoying, as I want the eGPU setup to be used as a "docking station" and continue working the same way. Does MacOS keep the Apps running even on the GPU change (when connecting the eGPU) and multiple screens connection? I have 3 screens connected to the eGPU setup. I'm new in MacOS, and I don't have any MacOS machine to test this. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Magnetic USB-C adapter recommendations? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 01:33 AM PDT So.... In only a couple months of use I have gotten tangled up in or tripped over my new MacBooks charger (USBc type) resulting in the entire device falling on the floor and bending the charger... I recently learned there are magsafe type adapters for the new chargers but I am unsure if those are safe to use and what kind to get. Does anyone have any experience with magnetic USB-C chargers and wants to share their experience? [link] [comments] |
