| Quicktime screen recording fails unless I pick a different storage... Posted: 04 Sep 2019 01:32 AM PDT I just setup the latest macOS (beta) and tested QT screen recordings. It fails saying "quick time can't load the file type". Something about the file type. So I found it saving the recording to QT so I changed this to save the recording to Documents and it works. The problem is that I have to do this EVERY time, I can't seem to find a settings to control this. I can't find any settings inside of QT at all. [link] [comments]  | ||

As one would imagine, having a mostly Apple ecosystem has kept me chained to my iPhones for some time. I did briefly use a Sony phone but due to poor updates, ended up going back to iOS. Now with the new iPhone announcement looming, I don't expect to upgrade to any of the more recent models for a variety of reasons. I'm wondering if anyone here has recently switched to an Android phone and how managing/connecting it to a MacOS machine works lately. I have no plans to root or do any customization, mostly just for local backups, syncing media. I recall third party apps like PushBullet, DoubleTwist, etc though nothing too reliable or stable. Posted: 03 Sep 2019 09:20 PM PDT I did manage to find another person with my exact predicament here: Unfortunately, there was just one lackluster response from a few months ago so I'm curious if this audience has experienced anything similar? In short: after recovering my system from update hanging for days... I ended up with a clean install (Mojave, then updated back to Catalina). I freaked out for a minute, then was relieved to see all users, files, and apps stored in a "Previous Content" folder. My problem isn't recovering the data, it's trying to restore those original users. I would greatly prefer that to manually dragging stuff over and configuring settings again. I read an article about it when I went to the developer site it seems as though it was removed, I assume discontinued. I found a link here howevere, I'm wary because this site really reminds me a lot of CNet which doesn't have the best track record when it comes to malware free software. | Adblocking program for MacOS El Capitan? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 08:21 PM PDT I came across a MBP5,5 running El Capitan 10.11.6. The user wants me to install an adblock program, but all the ones in the App store require OS X 10.12 and above. For now I told the user to use Chrome instead of Safari and use the adblock extension from the google store. Posted: 03 Sep 2019 10:46 AM PDT I really would love to have a 24-hour dynamic wallpaper of earth centered on my hometown; does anyone know an easy way to do this? I've seen this already https://itnext.io/macos-mojave-dynamic-wallpapers-ii-f8b1e55c82f and it works fine, but it's not automatic in grabbing the photos. Does anyone know of something out there that lets you put in long and lat and create a .heic for dynamic wallpapers? Bonus if it can change seasons like the example above. Thanks! | Why does safari refuse to load this site up? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 06:28 PM PDT I just bought MacBook Pro 13 inch baseline for development purposes. Was trying to open up android developers site: https://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/View but safari won't load it. Progress bar for safari stops at about 30% and fans kicks in like it's gonna take off. Then I tried chrome and it just loaded all fine. Why's that? It will connect to the WiFi but there is no internet. I've tried changing the dns server, emptying the cache and changing location in settings. Plus the obvious restarting everything. | Safari tab view isn't showing from Macbook to iPhone Posted: 03 Sep 2019 07:12 AM PDT And it was just working too and I hate when that happens. Just transferred my life via chrome to safari. Doubt that has anything to do with it. Now on my iPhone I can not see the computer nor web tabs in safari. About 5 things are open in my Mac safari browser. Mac can see iPhone safari but iPhone can not see Mac safari. All handoffs are on. All same iClouds. Bt on. Same wifi network but doesn't matter. Everything fully up to date. But I'm not sure if I'm accidentally private browsing on my Mac because in the last day I've been overly fucking around with everything. And what's wierd when I task motion finger slide up on my iPhone, I can see a tiny safari notification on the bottom on what I'm currently doing on my Mac on safari.. Click on it.. | Apple needs to fix the horrible UI sluggishness within macOS. Posted: 03 Sep 2019 10:27 AM PDT My MacBook Pro can't handle macOS in 4k. Nearly everything is slow and heavy feeling. Forget even using launchpad. I use my MacBook in clamshell mode with my 4k monitor. The fans constantly run, and the temperature sits at 55-65 degrees celsius. Windows doesn't struggle the same way on my MacBook. The really funny thing is, even if you turn off all of the fancy blurring and transparency effects, everything is just as choppy. It clearly is just heavy and unoptimized, paired with poor integrated graphics. Am I the only one who is really bothered by this? Apple has claimed since El Capitan that performance would be improving, and it always is just the same. [link] [comments]  | ||
