4 Quick tl;dr iOS Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 26) Posted: 20 Jul 2019 06:22 AM PDT Happy Friday...oh, wait, Saturday! Busy week, but better late than never! ;) So welcome back to this weekly roundup of the most interesting mobile games I've played this past week. This week, I got to enjoy an amazing turn-based JRPG, an adventure fantasy MMORPG with light survival gameplay elements, a charming puzzle platformer, and lastly a fantasy RPG-themed idle clicker with a beautiful art-style and atmosphere. Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 25 weeks ago here. The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is. Here be the 4 games of this week:Another Eden [Game Size: 3.45 GB] (free)Genre: RPG / JRPG / Single-player / Turn-based – Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Some tl;dr review: Another Eden is a high quality single-player turn-based JRPG from the people behind the original Chrono Trigger game, featuring no energy systems, auto-combat, VIP systems, daily missions, or the like! (how refreshing!) As we travel the 2D world with our team of heroes to complete quests and experience the game's elaborate and lengthy story, we stumble into random monster encounters (like walking in grass in Pokemon). During combat, we pick an attack and target for each of our heroes, start the round to trigger all attacks, and then start the next round. I'm liking the combat system, loving the world design, and enjoying the beautiful music tracks this game has to offer. Monetization happens through a light hero unlocking system, BUT we get plenty of heroes through completing quests, and unlike a true gacha game, this system isn't forced on us, and there's no horrible "unlock multiple of the same hero to level it up" system either. Thankfully. App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Dawn of Isles [Game Size: 2.85 GB] (free)Genre: MMORPG / Fantasy / Survival / Adventure - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Dawn of Isles is a beautiful fantasy MMORPG with PvE, PvP, dungeons, parties, and light survival gameplay elements like harvesting resources and crafting items. The world design is stunning, a useful hotbar provides quick access to harvesting tools, food, and whatever else we place there, there's a nice balance between auto and manual gameplay (auto is optional and mostly for quests/running), but most notably; the combat feels amazing! The left-side joystick is responsive, the abilities look and feel great to land perfectly, and ability combos (e.g. mixing fire and wind to create a fire tornado) makes the combat anything but boring and stale. NPC conversations and cut-scenes don't have English voice-overs yet, but apart from that, my only complaint is that all classes are gender-locked. Although there are multiple cosmetic and some non-cosmetic iAPs, veteran players argue that the game is fairer than most mobile MMORPGs and nearly free from any pay-to-win - even at higher levels. EDIT: It seems Netease has sadly introduced multiple pay-to-win elements recently, so be warned! App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Heart Star [Total Game Size: 33.5 MB] (free)Genre: Puzzle / Platformer – Offline Playable Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Some tl;dr review: Heart Star is a bit of a hidden gem if you like charming retro puzzle platformers without all the fluff of lootboxes, heavy monetization and other horrible anti-consumer systems. The game puts us in control of a male blue character who can only walk on blue tiles, and a female red character who can only walk on red tiles. Our goal is to move around and switch between the red and blue character until we find a way to get both of them safely to the finish line. The levels are well-designed and although relatively easy, it makes the game a joy to play and experience. It monetizes through instantly skippable video ads and a $2 iAP to remove these completely. App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Light a Way [Total Game Size: 112 MB] (free)Genre: Clicker / Idle / Fantasy - Offline Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Idle tl;dr review: Light a Way is an aesthetically beautiful idle clicker game with RPG-like progression and a cute story that unfolds as we progress. Like any clicker game, we tap the screen to deal damage, which earns us gold that we can spend on increasing our damage, hiring pets to help us deal more damage etc. The game monetizes through incentivized ads and iAPs to help us progress faster. I'm liking Light a Way more than the majority of clicker games I've played simply because of the attention to art style and atmosphere. I released SpriteShot, my first mobile game. Emoji-styled free block breaker made with SpriteKit Posted: 20 Jul 2019 05:55 AM PDT Hi! My name is Emilio and I recently released my first ever game: SpriteShot! I am a software developer in my day-to-day job and I wanted to experiment with Apple's Game Kit. So in the past few weeks I worked on this game and my friends loved it so much I decided to share it with the world. I hope you will like it as much as I love developing it. Now obviously you might want to take a look at some screenshots. Since I wanted to focus on the iOS ecosystem, not only I developed SpriteShot using native technologies (making the game very performant and efficient) but I designed the whole game, as you can see, around Apple's emojis. The game is completely free to play, and the only in-app purchase removes the ads from the game. Ads are showed only once every three games, and there are no intrusive banners or pay-to-win purchases. I hope you will enjoy this, and in any case I look forward to reading your positive or negative feedback and your opinions on my game! Without further ado, here are some links: Thank you for reading! Posted: 20 Jul 2019 07:29 AM PDT Hi me and a couple of friends downloaded Sky the game today and wanted to meet up in game but weren't able to do so. Dose anyone know the way that we can meet up that's not 100% random? Thank. [link] [comments]
Is there anyway to fix drift on Mad Catz CTRLI controller on iOS? Posted: 20 Jul 2019 07:26 AM PDT I have a drifting issue with the left joystick, it wants to move all around. It is not from overuse as I have hardly used this thing at all. I'm trying to get it to work with steam link, which I have done successfully, but the drifting just makes it unusable. I know madcatz is no longer around so not sure what I can do. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Premium RPG/adventure with both portrait and landscape orientation? Posted: 19 Jul 2019 10:43 PM PDT I really wish it was required to add what orientation your game supports rather than making people guess based on screenshots. I'm looking to actually drop some money on something worth playing, but I'd like the option of either orientation. Playing on iPhone XR. I'm currently playing Cat Quest and the public release of Sky, I've also played Tales of Wind, Buriedbornes, Wyvern, and Rogue Hearts. I still have OSRS and now that I have a larger screen to play on, I'm starting to get into it more. Have you played anything premium that supports both orientations? [link] [comments]

Non-freemium SimCity alternative for iPad? Posted: 19 Jul 2019 08:28 PM PDT Hey guys! So SimCity Build It for iOS is just another freemium city building app, maybe with more depth than the thousands of generic ones but still the same deal. Is there an alternative with the similar features to the actual SimCity games for consoles/PC without the freemium bullshit? I'm fine with paying upfront, just no micro transactions. I've found one before that looked promising, and I enjoyed it, but it's way too simple with many SimCity features missing. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Looking for a good physics puzzle game.. something like papa pear saga/ angry birds’Ish Posted: 19 Jul 2019 01:57 PM PDT I'm kind of bored with the above games.. I keep looking in the App Store for something new but can't find anything. Recently seen an ad for Mr Bullet and tried it but didn't really find it challenging enough. Any suggestions? Any game recommendations for medium length flights? Posted: 19 Jul 2019 02:38 PM PDT So I have 4 different flights over the next 3.5 weeks: a 4, 4, 2, and 8 hour flight. During the time when I'm not listening to music, reading, or sleeping, what ios games should I play? Obviously I won't have internet cause it's a flight, and I'm mostly interested in adventure, light story, light action, and once in a blue moon puzzle games. Any suggestions of games I should get? Looking for a cooking game I used to play Posted: 19 Jul 2019 02:07 PM PDT Hello everyone, I remember when I was young I used to play this game on an old iPad. It was a cooking game. It wa as not pay to win, with no fancy graphics. I believe the story was that your uncle died and you had to keep the restaurant open. Thanks :) [link] [comments]
Looking for app to manage multiple game accounts Posted: 19 Jul 2019 06:54 PM PDT I'm looking for an app that will allow me to use several accounts for the same game (Crash Arena Turbo Stars by Zeptolab specifically), and switch between them without signing out of my GameCenter account or messing with my system settings. Is this possible to do on iOS? If so, how? [link] [comments]
