Battery MacBook Air 2019, phenomenal + parallels W10 (performance)

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 09:04 PM PDT

    Hi There,

I am a newly owner of a MacBook Air 2019, I got the 16GB/1TB version (maxed out). I was a little skeptical to my purchase cause I really wanted a product with a ton of battery life and no heat and still get some decent performances and oh boy is this machine the right choice.

Unpacked it yesterday, it got 88% battery life. Been using it for hours and installed everything en even installed parallels with Windows 10 and stuff. Still rocking at 40%! This is something my MBP 15" 2018 would never do.

Also, the performance is perfect. it is fast, snappy and opens everything in a heartbeat. As mentioned above, it also runs Windows 10 perfectly as it did on my MBP 15".

This machine is perfect. People, If you think this machine isn't powerful enough for day to day tasks as email, internet, Netflix, youtube, and running windows and do some stuff, you are wrong. You do not need a MacBook Pro.

If you want me to do some testing and stuff let me know!

Kernel panics with LG Ultrafine 5K and MBP 13" 2017

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 10:47 PM PDT

I am using 13" MBP (2017) and LG Ultrafine 5K. The display randomly causes following kernel panic:

    panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff800f16f6cf): initproc exited -- exit reason namespace 2 subcode 0xa

Does anyone else who is using LG Ultrafine has this same issue? Any solutions or fixes? Updated to 10.14.6 yesterday, no effect. Tried already to reset PRAM.

Macbook dropped and now it looks like this.

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 09:40 PM PDT

My mother was on a trip, and her macbook was in a bag. It either got dropped, or something fell on it, because upon turning it on when she arrived home the screen looked like this. Apple wants her to pay 650 to fix it, and she doesn't have the money, and neither do I. Any idea as to what caused this, if I can fix it, and what I should do!

    Thanks

MacBook Pro heating up when connected to 4k monitor.

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 08:29 PM PDT

I just bought a 4k monitor. I plugged it into my MacBook Pro using Belkin USB C to HDMI converter which can output 4k at 60fps. But after connecting the 4k monitor I can see that the laptop is overheating. Temperature is around 60degree delicious or more. I am scaling down the contents of the monitor. But for the scaling settings that I am using it is not showing me that performance will be affected.

Should I wait to buy a Macbook?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 08:24 PM PDT

With the rumors of a refreshed 13" Macbook Air and Pro being announced with the 16" Macbook Pro in September, does it make sense for me to wait the two months?

These rumors are coming out even after Apple refreshed the Macbook Air and Pro earlier this month

Should I replace my 13" 2017 MacBook Pro's keyboard now or wait?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 03:10 PM PDT

I bought a 13" 2017 MacBook Pro last May, and while it's served me great, the brightness keys have gotten slightly sticky.

I looked online and found the keyboard replacement program would cover me for four years after I bought it (so May 2023). I also read online that the process would replace my battery as well.

My question is this: When should I replace my laptop's keyboard? It still functions fine currently, so should I wait until it gets bad? Wait until the battery starts having issues? Until the last possible minute?

Did I make a good purchase?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 10:09 AM PDT

Hello and sorry if this does not belong here first of all.

First of all something about me, I'm a college student in informatics, passion for programming my stupid ideas and gaming. I have a desktop PC for gaming and things that require the power, but as I travel home for most weekends I wanted to buy something that is thin and light, has good battery life and can handle programming.
For other programmers, I mainly work on Android apps and Java things, with Python and C++ for random projects or ideas.

So, I found a listing for Macbook Air 13" 2014, that has i7, 8gigs of RAM, 128 GB of storage and 319 battery cycles for 450€. I plan on using it as a weekend device in train, slouching at home, but to program as well.

I've already talked with the seller and he agreed to the sale but I'm unsure whether this is a good deal.
Do you think it's a good price for the package?

    Thank you.

Anyone having any issues with their 2018 Macbook Air's?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 04:04 AM PDT

I just read an article about the 2018 MBA having logic board issues. Has anyone here experienced any logic board issues or any other issues with their MacBook Air 2018?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 08:38 AM PDT

Do you need to use external hard drives that are specifically formatted for use with Mac OS with the macbook air? Where can I buy such a thing? Can you cast to an LG TV from a macbook air? Does the thunder port thingy work like a hdmi? Why is everything so difficult?

2018 MBP, AC adapter holds charge in only one of 4 Thunderbolt ports. Common?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 08:14 AM PDT

The only port where the AC holds on is the left-side rear one. Plug the adapter into any of the other three, and the computer emits the contact chime, then disconnects the AC, then reconnects, over and over. Has anyone else experienced this, and what can I do about it?

Can I somehow hook up two VGA monitors to my 13-inch early 2013 MacBook Air?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 05:35 AM PDT

I have two Philips 196V3L 19-inch LED VGA monitors and I would love to attach both of them to my MacBook Air, for editing and using Logic Pro. Can I do that somehow? I have no experience with attaching monitors whatsoever so I would hate to buy adapters and cables and such without it going to work.
I have two USB 3 ports (that I plan on buying a USB hub for, because two ports is not nearly enough), and a Thunderbolt bus.
    I'd really appreciate the help!

Are there any security or privacy reasons to not buy a new MBP in China?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 04:20 AM PDT

I live and work in China, and I'm thinking about replacing my 2014 MBP. If I did buy a new one, I'd get it directly from the Apple store in Shanghai.

For the record, I do a lot of writing and a lot of work in Adobe Lightroom.

Would i rather get the silver variant for the 2019 macbook pro with touch bar?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 01:52 AM PDT

Hi! Apparently, the space gray option for the said model is currently unavailable for all apple resellers here in the Philippines. Is silver a good color?
