Can you recommend a Thunderbolt 1 or 2 dock to support 2 displays on Mid 2013 Macbook Air? Posted: 08 Jul 2019 07:18 PM PDT So I still have my Mid 2013 Macbook Air, which works great. I am going to start using it for work and am looking for a Thunderbolt dock with 2 HDMI ports (or VGA ports, or DVI ports), possibly some USB ports, maybe an AUX port, and a LAN port. My questions:
Thanks everyone! [link] [comments]
Can my macbook be saved? Has this happened to anyone else? Posted: 08 Jul 2019 10:32 PM PDT I have a 13" 2015 mac pro. I came home from a weekend trip to find my laptop would not turn on. I figured the battery was just dead so I plugged it in. The light on the charger did not go on. It was working just fine before my trip so I searched online to see what the problem may be and did a SMC reset. The reset didn't do anything so I talked to apple's online support who told me to try the reset again and if it doesn't work go into an apple store. I took it in today and the guy first made sure that it wasn't my charger that was causing the issue, which it wasn't so he took the laptop apart and said that the battery is fine but the logic board had an issue (not entirely clear on what exactly is wrong with it?). It would cost $475 to repair it. Is there anything else I can try to troubleshoot it before I drop the money to repair it or buy a new one? If anyone else has experienced a similar issue any advice is appreciated! [link] [comments]
Buying a bang for buck used Macbook Air for a gift Posted: 08 Jul 2019 08:46 PM PDT I'm looking into buying a macbook air as a gift for my dad. He doesn't need anything too fancy. He's been using a laptop from 2009 for the last decade and I want to get him something that's functional for his every day needs web browsing and microsoft office suite. What do you guys recommend? I'm currently looking at the 2015 model. [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Jul 2019 11:59 AM PDT I will soon start college and want to buy a MacBook. I have never been an apple guy but have used it because it was provided to me by my high school. It got the job done and I didn't encounter any problems. Will a 2011 refurbished MacBook be good enough to perform daily for 4-5 years? I am looking to spend under $500ish, hence why I'm asking about an older model. Is there a better suited model to my circumstances for me to pursue? [link] [comments]
MacMini, PC and Apple Cinema display Posted: 08 Jul 2019 07:41 AM PDT I got MacMini with Old Apple Cinema Display connected by thunderbold cable. But I am looking for way how to connect PC to Apple Cinema Display and MacMini. Do you know some switcher for thunderbold cable? Thank you all! [link] [comments]

MacBook 2017 or wait for update? Posted: 08 Jul 2019 11:54 AM PDT So, I have purchased the MacBook 2017 at discount from bestbuy. I'm still waiting for it to arrive. The last one I purchased from Best Buy a week ago was basically DOA (the speaker was not functional). I'm current still rocking a used 2009 Mac Pro and a 2011 MacBook Pro. I enjoy both of these machines very much and they are both still very much functioning. I got the MacBook because I want something more portable and easier to handle. Now I got it at $450 discount and I think the pricing is fair. However, giving that both of my precious machines have worked so long and so well, I'm a bit concern about the current generation of MacBook with its keyboard issue. I'm also fully aware of the additional four years of warranty but that's just four years. Would it be better for me to wait and pay the extra $450 (say $1300) when the new ones comes out and hope that they would have solved the keyboard issue? Or should I take the risk and keep the MacBook 2017 at a discount and hope for the best? I'm really not trying to compare for computing power more so when and if the machine will break down too early...thanks. [link] [comments]
Should I download flash player on my Mac? Posted: 08 Jul 2019 10:16 AM PDT Long time windows user, always used Chrome. I have a MacBook Air 2017 and haven't bothered downloading Chrome (which has flash built into it) because I've always loved safari on my iPhone and seen many posts on here about how much resources chrome takes up on a Mac. I know flash is becoming more and more dinosaur like, but a few websites I've tried to frequent are asking me to download flash - is it safe and or/wise to do so? [link] [comments]

MacBook Pro (2019) issue with screen trim. Posted: 08 Jul 2019 08:36 AM PDT I've had my MBP for about a month. At the bottom of the display, the black strip that has "MacBook Pro" printed on it, seems to have air bubbles under the right side. Has anyone else seen or heard of this issue? Apple support was useless with "No known issues" as their answer. [link] [comments]
Dock/Port Expansion Recommendations - MBP 15 Posted: 08 Jul 2019 08:30 AM PDT I just bought a MBP 15. I need to purchase a dock for access to USB, Ethernet, and display ports. Any recommendations? I want to take full advantage of any speed :) [link] [comments]
My Macbook Pro screen stays black? Posted: 08 Jul 2019 07:53 AM PDT I am so frustrated right now because I have homework I have to do on it but I can't! Essentially, I know that my laptop is on because I can hear the reboot/charge noise and the keyboard is lit. This happened a few hours ago and tried the SMC and PRAM reset and it worked but this time it doesn't. I always leave my laptop on sleep (just close it) and I haven't dropped it. HELP! my macbook air has lost it’s mind and thinks it’s overheating Posted: 08 Jul 2019 07:46 AM PDT mid 2013 macbook air. started cutting itself off the other day so i did some research and everything kind-of pointed to my logic board but im hoping it is not that because that is an expensive fix. so, im still researching because everything works fine until it cuts itself off. i downloaded a temperaure app that shows the temp and when i start it up for the first time all day it says 40 degrees celsius(which is like 100 farenheit). i know its not even close to that hot in the room and the comp is at room temp. so my theory runs that the temperature sensor has lost its little mind and thinks it's much hotter than it actually is and thus it cuts the comp off after it reaches what it thinks is an unsafe temperature, but it is actually a normal running temperature. could this be the case? and if so what can i do? any help would be much appreciated. Macbook Pro 2016 (Used) vs 2017 vs Air Posted: 08 Jul 2019 02:38 AM PDT I'm planning on making the shift to Mac after being a Windows user for a very long time. Currently, I have the budget for the following: Macbook Pro 2016 (256 GB with Touchbar) - USED Macbook Pro 2017 (Base Model, Non-Touchbar) - NEW Macbook Air 2018 (Base Model) - NEW I don't think I'll be able to wait for October or November (which is typically the date when new Macbooks are released in my country) for the new Air so these are my options and I don't know if I should go for the 2016 Pro, the 2017 Pro or the 2018 Air. I'll primarily be using the computer for programming (as a Computer Science major), Photoshop work (daily), and an occasional video edit. I do have external drives so I don't think storage will be that much of an issue for me. [link] [comments] |
