    Windscribe vs Private Internet Access VPNs

    I'm so sorry if I'm asking an annoying question. I couldn't find a recent post on these specific VPNs.

    I have a lifetime subscription to Windscribe VPN. I have a 3 year subscription to PIA (I won something for once). I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these 2 services on an iOS device.

    I've tested both VPNs for several weeks and had some annoying issues with both.

    I don't need access to Netflix or anything. I just use my VPNs as security on public networks.

    Windscribe

    • Was inconsistent at connecting to the VPN on public networks.
    • Would drop connection randomly.
    • I tested the speed of my connection when I first connect and it maintains a high speed. But eventually, my connection speed would decrease drastically. I'd then have to restart the VPN and sometimes even switch region servers to get the regular speed back.

    PIA

    • When choosing "Best Available Server", connecting to the VPN would sometimes stall. I'd have to force close the app to get it to reconnect.
    • "Best Available Server" does not show region or new IP address.
    • Would drop connection even on strong signal strength connections.

    So yeah, they're both good, but I'd like some opinions on which one is better to go with.

    Oh, and both services have Windows support (yeah, I'm on Windows; mock me. Mock me incessantly) which is good.

    MAC Randomization

    Hello all,

    I'm hoping you can help me connect my iPhone 8+ to my work wifi for the first time since I bought it in December of 2017. I've been getting the notorious "unable to join network" message. This has been an issue exclusive to iPhones in my office, and the only thing I can think of at this point is something to do with the DHCP server receiving a request from a different MAC address than it offered an IP address to. I don't believe there is any OS blacklisting, as there has been one iPhone that can get on the network. Is there any way to disable the MAC randomization so the entire DORA process happens from my iPhone's actual MAC address?

    Alternative browsers to Chrome? Less prone to crashing & reliably restores. Bonus points for a “Tab saver”

    On Mac OS I use the Session Buddy extension in Chrome. It saves all open windows and tabs which can be restored after a crash. (Particularly since Chrome sometimes doesn't even offer to restore the last session).

    Is there any iOS web browser with similar functionality?

    I bookmark regularly, but a search could lead me down a rabbit hole of new tabs.

    I've been put off Chrome iOS since the v 75 update. Because of how close the "Close All"/ "Undo" and "+" (new tab) buttons are placed in the bottom toolbar, I've accidentally wiped my open tabs multiple times and then replaced them with a new blank tab.

    Under "Recent Tabs" you can only recover the oldest 20 that were open.

    Any suggestions for an app that's more robust? I'd also love if the interface had better button placement.

    Anyone still using official Facebook and Facebook messenger app on iOS 12?

    Just curious. Was killing my battery. Even with background app refresh, these two apps would mirror in background app refresh. Trying a week without them using an app called "Friendly" which is suppose to be better for battery.

    next update for ios13 public beta?

    so i was wondering if we are going to get another update for public beta or not. ios13 developer beta is on beta 3 i think but we are still on the same public beta. i am on public beta right now and its get glitchy sometimes so i hope they release a new update for public beta testers.

    If I type a word and it gets inappropriately corrected, then I type the exact same thing a second time, it should know that’s what I meant and not re-correct my word.

    I know I can turn autocorrect off but the feature is useful 75% of the time. For the other 25% I wish I could force bypass this feature upon detection of repeated input. That's all.

    Why is typing so much harder?

    I've used iOS for 10 years and had zero problems typing. Never gave it a second thought.

    I switched from an iPhone 6 with iOS 10 to an XS with iOS 12 last year. I have struggled continuously. I have been nearly crippled, with multiple errors per sentence (every third word). Without autocorrect (which I never needed before) it would be hopeless.

    I installed the Gboard keyboard recently, which hasn't improved the accuracy of my raw typing. Simple words like "for" come out as "fir" 100% of the time. Half the time spaces come out as C's or V's.

    I know the XS screen is a little larger, but I've had nearly a year to adapt. There has to be something else going on here.

    Anyone else had or heard about keyboard issues with the XS or iOS 12?

    Is there a way to simply search for a location in the weather app to view the weather there without having to add it to your list first? If I can do it with spotlight why not in the weather app?

    I constantly have to add the transit layer as soon as I open the application. When asking for directions I always have to switch to transit again. Honestly I don't think it's that hard for Maps to "learn" my preference. I have been forcing myself to use Maps instead of Google Maps but GM seems to have better UX. Are there any settings to tell Maps to remember my selections?

    Need Help Finding an App

    Hi. I hope I'm not asking a popular question. I searched the subreddit and couldn't find a similar post.

    Does anyone know of an app or a method of deleting duplicate photos? For some reason, I keep getting duplicates and have been removing them manually.

    I think it's an issue with iCloud Potos, which I've turned off, cleared my camera roll, and then turned it back on. The Photos app still downloads the duplicates. I'm stumped.

    Question about iTunes Backup
