15 years old macbook password revival

    Hey guys,

i have bit nostalgic question. I have this 15 (or more) years old MacBook, which I was not able to throw away as it was a good part of muy student life. I had few new Apple Laptops since, but kept this one for ages for the nostalgic value. I was able to access it up until last year. Not sure what happened, maybe have changed the password on it or something and it just won't unlock for me at all. I tried all password variations and none work. I keep trying (desperately) but with no success, anyone has an idea what to do?

The computer we talk about here is at least 15 years old MacBook ... the white thing which switches of when you plug it out of power. It does not offer me any option to reset password....think it's still stuck in a timezone ten years ago....what to do? Anyone can help?

    Thanks a million!

Apple Keyboard Service Program: do they replace the device?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2019 08:30 PM PDT

Hello, I have a 2017 MacBook Pro and was wondering if Apple replaces the device or repair the keyboard itself?

Would it be silly to get the 12” 2017 Macbook now?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2019 08:14 PM PDT

I'm looking to upgrade my 13" 2012 MacBook Air, and I've been tossing up between the 2017 MacBook and the latest MacBook Air.

I'm not a Pro user - I mostly use it for writing, web browsing and research, light photo editing and watching videos. Initially I considered the iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard, but the lack of trackpad was a major dealbreaker.

I'm on the go a lot so the 12" is appealing for portability, but it's a couple of years old now and I'm wondering if it's worth holding tight with my old computer (still works, the battery just needs to be replaced) until a potential new MacBook comes along. But the new Air has a slightly better battery life, which is also important to me. Would be keen to hear other people's experiences with either of them!

MacBook air 2017 gets very hot.

Above the keyboard. It's extra hot while on YouTube. I tried different browsers too. I'm worried there might be something wrong or I need to figure out how to clean my files.

macbook air 11 inch keyboard problems

macbook air 11 inch keyboard problems

    📷

I purchased a brand new MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2015) from an Apple Store here in the UK for about £850 with a student discount somewhere around the start of 2016 or late 2015.

Around 3 years later, the 'n' key stopped working. Upon a Genius inspection, I was told that a keyboard replacement was needed and that this would cost around £250.

This month, (June, 2019), I took my laptop to a local, reputable repair shop. They repaired my machine for a fraction of Apple's price but the interesting thing was that they discovered that the antenna cable had been soldered to some chip as a result of someone opening the laptop. However, this wasn't the case, as I had never had it opened nor had it opened or repaired ever. I believe that this phenomenon occured at the factory where they built this laptop. Anyway, the local repair shop fitted a new keyboard (although it doesn't feel anywhere like the original did).

This leads me to believe that the (MacBookAir7,1) has a manufacturing defect that would otherwise cause a short circuit somewhere by having the antenna cable wrongly soldered to the specific chip whose name I cannot remember.

Are there any other reports of this? Can something be done by Apple to compensate me if it is their fault and my machine is out of warranty? Thanks.

i spilled bacardi on my macbook air

    Posted: 28 Jun 2019 03:45 AM PDT

heres the deal: i was writing late at night then started jamming to the pina colada song and my alcoholic beverage flew up into the air and fell onto my precious mac. i soaked it up as fast as possible then used a damp cloth to clean off the sticky stuff. it seemed fine, i wasn't concerned. nothing appeared to be wrong it it. all the keys were working and i used it for like 10 mins after the spill (bc im dumb and didnt shut it off immediately). i closed the lid and was about to put it away and i held it up vertically, so the part you open was facing straight up to the sky. Then, liquid came out straight down from the back. I freaked out, opened it (still working like it was brand new), and shut it down. Now its sitting upside down in a chair. I know the risks of a wet macbook, but should i be particularly concerned about the liquid coming out of the back and not threw the keyboard when i originally flipped it over?

Random question, but how much cm is the space bar on a MacBook Pro?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2019 02:43 AM PDT

And are all (MBP sizes) keyboards space bars the same length?

Does its length differ from an MBA?

Edit: cm or in, whatever works for you
