Apple Introduces Customizing Hardware Keyboard Commands in iOS 13

    Posted: 21 Jun 2019 08:06 PM PDT

So I went out today and purchased a mouse to test out and see if it'll change the way I tend to use my iPad. Upon messing with all the settings for the mouse and going through other settings, I noticed a new Full Keyboard Access section under Hardware Keyboards. Typically we only seen this under Third-Party software keyboards. To be sure I wasn't trippin' and to see if it already existed, I connected my Bluetooth keyboard to my 9.7inch iPad Pro and my iPad Mini to see what comes up and there's a section for hardware keyboards but it's no where near like it is on iOS 13.

Here's what you get in iOS 12 under Settings - General - Accessibility - Keyboard

And here's what you get under iOS 13

Then there's this button for commands, and clicking there reveals every hardware keyboard command AND tapping one allows you to modify that command to your liking. This is pretty damn awesome!

Here are all the commands that can be modified

What do you guys think of the 2020 leaks iPhone screen size? Personally I’m looking forward to the smaller 5.4 size.

    Apple Retail Jobs

    Posted: 21 Jun 2019 11:59 PM PDT

I'm not sure if this fits into this subreddit, but I'm a high school senior and a really big Apple nerd. I was looking at maybe applying to an Apple Store as a part-time specialist. I know there's several current and former Apple retail employees in this subreddit, any tips or things I should know?

I'm sure it's been discussed a lot here, but I'd like to say that, even as an avid apple "hater", the new sign in with Apple just put me in the market for an iPhone

    Posted: 21 Jun 2019 11:34 PM PDT

I've never liked apple products, although even before this I've lightened up on my hatred a bit in recent times. However never ever would I consider buying an iPhone when I can get a STELLAR one generation old android device used for literally a tenth of the price.

    Until today.

I was browsing my local online classifieds, looking at iPhone 8's. With the 11 about to come out, and my current phone (LG G6) being quite new, the 7 is a bit too old to step into for me today. But the iPhone 8 is looking like I may get a fair price. And it is for one sole reason that I crack: Sign in with Apple. I hate hate hate signing into shit. I reluctantly use Facebook for one single group chat, I only use Discord and Twitter avidly. And all these apps that want me to "continue with __" or give them my email bug me. So that's why I turn today.

Sure I'll like iMessage with my parents, and some other features of iPhone. But I wouldn't turn if it weren't for this, not even close. I hate Apple as a company still, I think they're fairly anti-consumer with many of their policies (repairs being a huge one, ecosystem locking being another), but for this and their other privacy features, I thank them.

I will close this out with a question: I use Brave browser for its tracking and adblocker built right in capabilities. With their latest moves towards privacy, will iPhone safari provide these services, or should I be changing to Brave if I do get one?

Look at this relic I found!

This was stashed away in a cabinet at work, the extra battery pack is dead but it still works with AA batteries in it! Does anyone know how one would connect to this to get the pictures off it?

[Discussion] What would you like the future of the phone app to be?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2019 04:00 PM PDT

    Hey guys,

As the title says, I'm curious about what other people think about the phone app in its current state, whether you even use it, what would you like to see go away, or desperately need added?

I think the Phone App is something Apple hasn't touched in a while now and it's something that, in my opinion, needs to be fundamentally rethought as phone calls are becoming less prominent and the times are changing where texting and video calling is becoming more prominent.

Open to all thoughts and critiques.

PSA: If your trackpad stops clicking you might have a swollen battery

    Posted: 21 Jun 2019 07:32 AM PDT

My MacBook Pro 15" late 2013 trackpad started having issues a while ago. The click wasn't feeling right or it was sometimes not clicking at all. When I replaced the battery today, it started working normally again.
