Shortcut to change which display is main display and location of displays? Posted: 08 May 2019 07:07 PM PDT Hey Guys, I'm not sure how to explain this properly but here it goes. I like to use my MBP in two ways. 1) 27inch 4K display as main display with MBP to the right of it. 2) MBP as main display in front of me with my 4k monitor "above" my macbook. Im wondering if there's some sort of shortcut I can set up that will change which display is my main display and the location of the secondary display without having to go into the display settings every single time. How-to: Change macOS screenshot file format to HEIF! Posted: 08 May 2019 06:20 AM PDT Yes this is possible, I've been looking for this for ages and the old post is sadly archived. instead of doing this:
this is the correct command you need: it will enable heif for all screenshots immediately because of rebooting the SystemUIServer process. apparently it turns out apple chose to use .heic as the file extension for all images using the hevc codec. so thats the internal name as far as macOS is concerned. but yeah it does work. i've tested it with png and heic. a png screenshot of Affinity Photo's splashscreen uses 488kb in heif/heic it's only 68kb enjoy your space-saver! MacOS security while reinstalling macOS? Posted: 08 May 2019 08:02 PM PDT Hi all, I'm wondering about the mac's disk-wipe and OS reinstall process via the option+cmd+r internet recovery. Is it possible that anytime during this process, that the mac can be compromised? While reinstalling, is it possible for another device on the same network to somehow manipulate the network traffic and slip in malware under disguise that it's part of the downloading operating system? Is any part of the macOS operating at this stage? Can the process of cleaning out a disk (such as erase and reformat to AFPS) be compromised whatsoever? And in internet recovery mode, is there any way for a virus or malware to be downloaded somehow and run in the background? Can anything other than the macOS reinstall part be downloaded in this stage? I know it sounds wild, but I'm interested in any clarification. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Read later + RSS app (OS and iOS) Posted: 08 May 2019 03:54 AM PDT What app do you suggest (web, OS, and/or iOS) to manage all my websites I read with a Read later function to have them all under a "To read" section? I'd like something where I can put all my websites, and save them from there. Ideally something that I can then have on my iPhone to read them on the go as well. [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 May 2019 12:21 PM PDT I needed to upgrade os to install and tinker around with some new software I cleared out loads of space and downloaded the latest OS for install Now I'm getting "The installer Resources we're not found" and I am unable to load back to original OS. There is an option for Choose startup disk but it's empty. What can I do? Update - holding cmd r brought up utilities, and install OS brought up the original Sierra but there is no disk to select to install the OS Sierra. In the utilities tab, there is HD and OS X Base System but I'm not sure what to do. Should I click restore on the HD? Update 2 - didn't restore anything but the image seems to have appeared on install OS Sierra. Fingers crossed! [link] [comments]
