Posted: 06 May 2019 08:20 PM PDT Hi, title basically. I had my mac audio muted (audio all the way down to 0 bars) and noticed that after I reinstalled mojave, the audio setting seemed to save and stayed muted. I thought after completely wiping the disk and reinstalling the OS, wouldn't the audio setting not save or can anyone provide insight into how it's handled? [link] [comments]
Swapped SSD, permissions issues on old drive in external enclosure. Posted: 06 May 2019 05:14 PM PDT I have a 2014 retina macbook pro. I swapped the SSD for a larger capacity (256GB to 512GB), and 4x PCI-E. I put the old SSD in an OWC Envoy Pro, which is an external USB enclosure. The drive mounts, no hardware issues, but I have a permissions issue. The folders within /Users/username, like Documents, Applications, etc., have a red caution sign on them and I get the following message: "The folder ... can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents." I get that it's a permissions issue. When I go to Get Info > Sharing and Permissions and add my user to each folder, that solves the problem, but only for that top folder. It won't apply the changes to each sub folder, even when I select "apply to enclosed items." I chose not to do a migration, as I wanted to start fresh with a clean install. I do need to grab some files here and there, which is why I grabbed the Envoy Pro to quickly plug the old drive in. Is there way to fix the permissions on the entire drive in bulk? This page has some suggestions: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203538 It suggests running the following in terminal:
How do I get that command to run on the external drive specifically? The external drive is disk4 in Disk Utility. Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 May 2019 09:16 AM PDT Apple is famous for having integrated software and both "photos" and "FCPX" are Apple's software. Then why is it not possible to import directly (a video) from my photos library. It almost seems impossible apple has missed this. Is this just me? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 May 2019 07:00 AM PDT Hello, Semi-recent Windows convert here. There are a few hotkeys I can't seem to find, wonder if anyone can point in the direction of creating work-a-likes in MacOS? Specifically: Windows Key + R = Brings up a run prompt Command+spacebar kind of does this, but wonder if there's a tool i could employ to make it a more direct workflow (as I have to pivot backa nd forth between Windows and Mac) Thanks! Mojave blocking mic input and not prompting to 'allow access' Posted: 06 May 2019 03:34 AM PDT I use Macbook and the default mic (from Apple earphones). The mic works normally on my iphone, but since Mojave it doesn't work on my mac in certain apps (gaming apps). It does work on mac in Skype, for example. It prompted the 'allow access' after opening Skype for the first time. Mojave didn't prompt when opening gaming apps, even when I did a clean re-install of those apps and when they were not opened in full window mode - hence, the mic still won't work in those apps. I have found the thread below on this issue, and there it's suggested (by u/aloisg, u/bagel-bites and others) to make changes to security settings in recovery mode using terminal. My programming skills and knowledge are limited and I am not sure how to apply it. I would appreciate it if someone here could write a step by step instruction on how to do it. Or even better: is there a simpler solution? See: https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/9lwyz0/mojave_not_privacy_settings_blocking_all_mic/ [link] [comments]
Weird Finder behaviour with macOS system clone/backup apps. Posted: 06 May 2019 03:01 AM PDT English is not my native tongue, so I am sorry if I butchered the title or post. I am running Mojave 10.14.4 (Hackintosh) and I have a CCC backup of my previous install (High Sierra) (whole system drive) on my second HDD. Everything is running fine, but Mojave is detecting services that belong to apps that I have present in the backup directory. I managed to blacklist that directory in Spotlight Privacy tab and it's working as it should, but whenever I want to open a folder in terminal for example, when I right click and select services I see services associated with Applications present in my High Sierra backup. How can I stop that indexing ? Same thing happens when I select Open with... it shows apps that are not present on my current install. [link] [comments]

Ive got Clean My Mac X but theres so many files and folders i dont know whats good and whats "bad". [link] [comments] |
