Does Migration Assistant transfer over deleted files? Posted: 15 May 2019 12:19 AM PDT Please forgive the fact that I'm not very tech savvy, it's my understanding that deleted files can almost always be recovered from an SSD. If I were to use Migration Assistant to transfer my date from my current 2013 MBP Retina to a newer MBP, would I be able to recover files in my new Mac that I deleted in my old one? Thanks! Posted: 14 May 2019 11:54 PM PDT Hello I'm updating my mac to the latest version of macOS while writing. I've noticed the update makes my mac act weird the last 3 times i did it, here's what it does:
Is this normal? Shouldn't it update completely and then ask me for the password on the login screen? Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 May 2019 10:51 PM PDT 2017 13' MBP touchbar with 256gb SSD. Been trying to install boot camp for days now, and always fails on partitioning the drive. When I tried to manually partition the drive in a MS friendly format I get the error code 49187. Filevault and time machine have never been used. The SSD only has 50GB filled, it is a brand new machine and I have tried many things recommended on forumns and the likes. Any help would be greatly appreciated Im on the latest Mojave Beta. Why MacOS Mojave still stuck with older cli tools Posted: 14 May 2019 06:25 PM PDT Why is MacOS Mojave (10.14.5) is still stuck with cli tool versions of cat, sed, uptime etc from 199x-200x? It's 2019 and MacOS still ships with bash 3.x When Windows is coming up with stuff like WSL2, why is MacOS so reluctant to update these basic tools to the latest. If they want to keep developers using MacOS, this is one thing they should address. (Inb4 someone comes up with homebrew, yes I know about homebrew.) [link] [comments]
Retina MacBook Pro Screen Resolutions? Posted: 14 May 2019 06:52 AM PDT I cloned a Yosemite installation of 10.10.4 from another Mac to a 2015 Retina MacBookPro. It booted but everything on the screen was very tiny displaying the Mac GUI at 2880x1800 without Retina scaling. I look in the display preferences and there is no scaling options. The Retina MacBook Pro originally came with 10.10.3. How do I fix this? Thanks [link] [comments]

Can't change accent color in Mojave. Terminal command to fix? Posted: 14 May 2019 07:45 AM PDT I can't seem to change the accent color on my MacBook Pro, running 10.14.x (it's never worked, regardless of Mojave version). It's stuck on Blue, and though it'll let me select gray—and even changes the lil' preview window to gray—it never actually changes away from blue. I've checked 15+ sites/pages related to MacOS accent colors, and haven't found a way to fix this. I'm hoping there's a manual way to do it via the terminal! This is on a corporate-managed mac, so there are some settings that are slightly wonky, but I don't *think* they've made changes that would prevent a different accent color from being selected; Dark mode works fine… FYI: It's not just that gray can't be selected, it won't change to any color other than the default blue. If anyone has ideas on how to fix this, I'd greatly appreciate it! It's been driving me nuts! Here are some relevant sites I've visited, and what they contain. How to Change Terminal Title & Tab Titles Posted: 14 May 2019 09:52 AM PDT Hi all, The terminal tab headers have been bothering me for a while. The terminal has a ['Computer name' -- -bash --'XX' x 'YY'] where 'XX' and 'YY' are the dimensions of the window Each terminal tab has a ['Folder name' -- -bash] I would like to rename the terminal header ('computer name', --bash, and 'XX x YY' dimensions And also remove the -bash from the terminal tabs (i know how to rename the tab title but not the bash part) has anyone encountered this issue and found a working solution? I posted a screenshot of the issue with some redacted info. Thanks! [link] [comments]
