    Cannot send airdrop, only receive

    Posted: 11 May 2019 08:25 PM PDT

    Hi everyone!

Recent android switch here - got my iPhone XS two days ago and am LOVING it. I'm having a problem though; while people can see my phone to send me airdrops, I cannot see anyone.

I've tried restarting the phone, turning airdrop on and off, singing in and out of iCloud, changing permissions to receive from everyone or contacts only, airplane mode on/off, resetting network settings.

No change. When I choose a photo to airdrop, it just has that little message of "if you're in range tap the contact here to airdrop" but no one ever shows up.

    Thoughts ??? Thanks!

iPhone 7 Bluetooth stopped working. Sees devices, but says it can’t connect. What are my options?

    Posted: 11 May 2019 08:53 PM PDT

It's in perfect shape but a year outside warranty. I've tried absolutely everything down to a hard reset.

It can't connect to speakers or my car or my headphones. I need these things as I heavily rely on wireless headphones and have a 3 hour daily commute where I need my phone connected to my cars hand free system.

It sees devices and devices see it. But it will try to connect and always fail.

I don't want to and frankly can't afford a new phone I just paid this one off. Any help is appreciated.

iPhone XR is making our home wifi unusable

    Posted: 11 May 2019 10:33 PM PDT

My sister got an iPhone XR for Christmas, and ever since she got it, our internet is unusable anytime she's connected. I like to play video games with my friends and it's really frustrating because my ping is unplayable or I just get kicked from games all together.

I know for a fact it's her phone. My friends and I never lag on our internet when she's not home, but we literally know when she walks in the door because our ping will skyrocket. It gets even worse when she opens apps like Snapchat or Instagram. It's also JUST her phone. My friends and I have tested it by sending snapchats to each other back and forth on our internet. The ping rises a few digits as it should, but as soon as it's opened on my sister's phone the ping on our game will go to max. (My sister is the only person on our wifi with an iPhone XR) I'll even be kicked sometimes. Just her phone being connected to the internet will double download times and ping and cause anything on our other devices to load slowly or not at all. It should also be noted that it's most likely not a wifi issue because my PS4 uses a LAN cable, and I lag just the same as any device on the wifi.

I've done everything I could think of. I bought a new router with QOS. I prioritized my PS4, but her phone still does the same. There's absolutely no way to stop her from making our wifi unusable. I'm at my wit's end. It's so frustrating not being able to play games with my friends without lagging or being kicked. She's a teenage girl who is always home too, so I'm sure you can see my frustration.

Here's a list of things I've already done to the phone:

    • Reset it
    • Reset the network settings
    • Update it to the latest software
    • Factory reset and reinstalled the software

If there's anything anyone knows that might help me, I'd really appreciate it. We're trying to get my sister a new phone, but it's very complicated with the contract and warranty on it.

Siri giving information for U.K. rather than U.S.

    Posted: 11 May 2019 09:03 PM PDT

When I asked Siri when Mother's Day 2019 it's telling me it was March 31. I googled it and that was Mother's Day in the U.K. Does anyone know a way to fix that?

Best iPhone for a lifetime Android user?

    Posted: 11 May 2019 06:30 PM PDT

Hello there, I've only ever used Android's (apart from an iPod touch about 8 years ago). What would be the best choice for me to try out iOS? I did get a free iPad mini a few years ago, but I got rid of it fast because it was so slow and laggy. I was thinking maybe a 7S? Don't want to spend a lot but also want to give it a good chance. Thanks for the help

iphone XS randomly going into an infinite reboot loop

    Posted: 11 May 2019 03:20 PM PDT

Seemingly out of nowhere it just keeps attempting to restart. Apple logo for a second. Then gone for a second. Then repeats forever.

I put it in that recovery mode and tried to reinstall the OS. No luck. It extracted but couldn't go further than that. Got error 4013. No idea what else to go. I have photos from my sons 1st birthday party taken last week that i haven't had a chance to back up so I really don't want to reset the whole device. Any ideas?

iPhone vs. Casio / issue with reminders

    Posted: 11 May 2019 09:59 AM PDT

I'm totally lost and hope to find some iOS-pros that can help me with an annoying little issue. In the app „Reminders" is there an option to confirm multiple reminders of the last few hours at once? (not having to tap every single one of them). Better yet, is there a way to get reminders without needing to confirm them at all? Basically I just want a chime, that give a little acoustic signal several times a day. It is beyond me that a 1.000€ iPhone seems not to be capable of what an 80s Casio wristwatch could do :)

[Help] iPhone X - screen flickering at high brightness only?

    Posted: 11 May 2019 05:56 AM PDT

Hi guys, I recently bought a cheap iPhone X in the hopes of fixing the issue. The screen flickers at only medium-high brightness. The phone is in great condition and not smashed. I think it might be a software issue?

Any tips on what I can do? I have not received the phone yet!

iPhone 7 keeps turning off even when battery is fully charged over night

    Posted: 11 May 2019 02:41 AM PDT

I got the iPhone 7 in December 2016. Everything worked just fine until September 2018. I dropped my phone to the ground and my screen was totally broken. So 2 days later I went to a local repair shop to get a new screen. Everything was just fine, until a day or 2 later, my phone keeps turning off when doing random stuff, like opening a website, opening mail, or whatever. When I tried to reboot my phone, it shows me the empty battery sign. So I connected my phone with my charger into my computer (this happened at work), my phone reboots and I see that my battery is 80%. Welp, that's weird. When it turns off and I turned it on again, the home button freezes. I know the home button on an iPhone 7 is not an actual clickable button, but when you tap it it simulates a button tap feeling. After rebooting, the button recovers and works just fine. Over the next few days, my phone showed this behavior like 2 times a day. My phone was fully charged, and just opening a website or opening my mail, I can literally see my battery draining, from 100% to 80% to 50%, gradually over a few minutes. Than it either keeps going 24 hours or more on 1% battery, or it turns off. When it turns off and I charge it again and turning it on again, I see my battery is fully charged. I checked my battery section in the settings and it says it needs repair and the battery health is only 60% anymore. It was fine for a couple of months, it was like 2 or 3 months since it last happend. Until today. My phone fully charged over night, it was 100%, this morning I tried to visit a website and it turns off again. Okay, nothing new, except it was a long time until the last time it happened. I turn it on again, like 'normally', the home button freezes again. My phone has 10% battery. I tried entering my entry code, welp, phone turns off again. Okay, this happened before. I give the phone a moment to properly turn off. I try turning it on again. Home button freezes. It turns on, battery 100%. I enter my entry code. Phone says my SIM card is locked, please enter your pin code. Enter pin code, phone dies again. This happened like 5 or 6 times, until I gave up. I let the phone rest for a half hour, tried again, same behavior, no luck. When I charge my phone, note that battery is 100%, I can successfully turn my phone on and work with it. A while ago, I changed my Apple ID password online on my computer, and had not yet synced it with my phone. Along with it, so was my iCloud turned off because it needed my new Apple ID password. It was not my highest priority to sync my password on my phone, so yeah, now I know I should have, certainly given the weird behavior of my phone. So when it is now up and running, I tried entering the password so my iCloud was synced so when I need a new iPhone, at least I could recover my data from there. I had to enter my Apple ID password first in my settings, than it asked for my entry code. A spinner was showed on the screen, starts spinning. And keeps spinning forever.

Now my real question: what should I do? Go to the local repair store and replace my battery? It costs 55€, when a new phone costs at least 600€ (I'm also a iPhone developer, so it is not an option to buy an Android phone, and also, I don't want anything else but an iPhone). So replace the battery, hoping that it will fix my problems? I know when I will go to an Apple Store, I think they will recommend buying a new phone because, well, they have to sell more iPhones. And even if my phone was still in warranty, they would not help my replace the battery I think because there is a non Apple screen installed. So when you do that, you lose all warranty. But my phone is not even in warranty anymore I think. I saw on the Apple website that I can buy a new iPhone and when I turn my iPhone 7 in, I can get a serious discount on the new phone.

TLDR: iPhone 7 keeps turning on and off again, battery health only 60%. Should I replace the battery or buy a new iPhone?
