Hello Redditors, I've made Chipsi, a Twitter app for Apple TV. It has chronological timelines with pictures, gifs, movies, web excerpts and much more! Available for free on the App Store

Does auto play work for the things I bought.

I bought futurama and don't want to hit enter every time an episode ends. Most of the time I'm not near my remote.

Just got an atv 4K. Curious about the photos app and how granular I can get.

Just curious, can I easily designate specific folders to share to my Apple TV? While hiding everything else?

I'd love an album of my wife and I, etc, but don't really need to send over pics of my shoes.

4K HDR on Apple TV 4K

    Posted: 12 May 2019 12:09 AM PDT

My brother has an Apple TV 4K and an LG 4K HDR television. I was helping set up some movie apps today and noticed that the Vudu app on his Apple TV is not playing his UHD movies with 4K resolution nor are the HDR display settings triggered during Vudu playback. I found some posts in this subreddit from about a year ago where Vudu made an announcement about 4K HDR support on the Apple TV, but I can't find any more relevant information since then.

Just the main menu of the Apple TV triggers the HDR settings on the television without any content playing. The Vudu app for webOS plays the UHD movies as expected with the HDR display settings enabled. The same is true if we use the Movies Anywhere app or iTunes which shares most of the same library through linked accounts.

When attempting to use the Vudu app for Apple TV to play a UHD movie, the HDR display settings are turned off and revert back to only having SDR presets available. The Vudu app shows that the UHD movies are available in 4K HDR, but once they begin playing, the info shows that they are playing HD.

Does the Vudu app on Apple TV actually support 4K HDR playback, or is something wrong with my brother's Apple TV configuration?

While watching a movie with VLC, screensaver turns on...

    Posted: 11 May 2019 11:32 PM PDT

When I watch a movie on VLC, the screensaver (Cityscapes) turns on periodically. How do I keep the screensaver from doing this? I have an ATV 4K, most recent version of TVOS.

Block iOS Remote App from turning on Apple TV

    Posted: 11 May 2019 06:54 PM PDT

I've been using a Passcode to block access to Apps on my Apple TV but it's annoying when I am using it.

Wonder if there's a way to not have to do that and just block pairing of the iOS Remote App so that if I do that and also hide the physical remote control I can effectively prevent people in the house from turning on and using the Apple TV.

    Is appletv worth it?

    Posted: 11 May 2019 11:54 AM PDT

I know you are all probably a bit biased because you most likely own it already, but is apple TV worth it? What does it even do? Does it just let you stream stuff?

What are your major points for buying it?

I'm considering buying one if it wasn't clear :-) if the reasons are compelling enough i will buy one tonight :-)

Thank you if you do decide to answer :-

Edit: Awesome people! Thanks a bunch. I ended up buying it
