Apple blames Intel for poor Mac sales. Maybe it’s time for experiment with AMD before switching to ARM?

That's some insane mic on the PowerBeats Pro! Digging the overall form factor. More compact than I imagined.

Can we get another "complete guide to securing yourself & your Mac" thread going?

    Posted: 07 May 2019 12:08 PM PDT

    Original Post by u/YungKob

This was a great post with lots of useful information, but a couple years has passed and I'm sure some new methods of securing your Mac are out there. The OG post said they were making a "list of apps that are definitely dangerous", does anyone have a list like this they could upload/comment?

Also, any other encryption methods/applications and other just helpful Mac applications not related to security would be fantastic.

Thoughts on the iPod Nano - 6th Generation

    Posted: 07 May 2019 12:54 PM PDT

It was the ultimate MP3 player, it had a touch screen, it was as small as you can get, it had a metal clip, great battery life and features, despite it's size.

It was replaced by the 7th Gen which was larger and as ugly as sin. Now everyone uses their phones.

I just wanted to say, that thing was incredible and it won't be beaten. This is coming from someone who no longer owns apple products and is just posting here out of pure nostalgia.

The only reason I don't use it is because Apple stopped allowing iTunes to sync with it, they killed it. It's also why I now avoid Apple products.

Anyway, just wanted to put that out there. I think they stopped making it because it was too perfect and people weren't upgrading their hardware and spending their money.

    Thoughts?

How did you come about being an Apple user?

    Posted: 08 May 2019 12:10 AM PDT

For me it was always a fascination with the apple culture and allure when they were still PowerPC and well out of reach of the average consumer. PCs in the days we're so accessible and software procurement was aplomb whereas Apple and their close knit system was anything but unless you knew where and who to ask. This was during the times when people. Said Mac have games too and shows you photoshop lol.

Alas it was 2007 and the prospect of being able to run windows on the MacBook Pro convinced me to drop $3000 on one which was a small fortune to me. I had to save a long time and in retrospect it was well worth it. Prior to I was very active in the NeoWin windows modding craze. Making windowsXP look like OS X Aqua was all the rage back then but yeah when finances were in my favour i bought a pretty much top of the line late 2007 MacBook Pro and loved that thing. Still have it intact.

    Share your story.

You shouldn't compare Pixel 3A to iPhone XR. Compare it with iPhone 7 instead.

Opinion: Siri's visual elements need to be redesigned.

    Posted: 07 May 2019 08:16 PM PDT

It's a design that does not work well with the rest of the UI on any Apple OS.

What are your thoughts on this and how would you look to improve on the design / how would you design Siri's visual elements?

Lory Gil: TIL that ANYONE can trigger Siri from AirPods (and Powerbeats Pro, which is when I first learned it), not just the person using them.
