Using the Apple Store in NYC as a backdrop for my mousepad Advertisement

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 06:13 PM PST

Okay so, USB-C Hubs, which ones won't brick my computer cause I heard very bad things about them completely killing some m1 MacBook airs( and pros too)

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 09:58 PM PST

is there a specific brand I should avoid? Any recommendations? I'd prefer ones that directly attach to the USB c ports rather than have it flop with a little wire. Thanks!

Windows 10 On Arm MacBook Performs Better Than Microsoft Devices

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 08:21 PM PST

We always think that having in-house software and devices will build a great ecosystem. Well, that is not correct after the launch of arm based MacBook. It is seen that Windows 10 runs better on the new arm-based MacBook than other Microsoft devices like Surface Pro X.

Currently, the most potent Microsoft Laptop is Surface Pro X which is supposed to be the fastest. The irony is Windows 10 performs much quicker on the new MacBook Air or the first Arm Based MacBook. It is undoubtedly an embarrassing moment for Microsoft because many tech bloggers expected Surface Pro X to perform the best with Windows 10.

It was Alexander Graf, Developer who noticed the difference in Geekbench 5 results. He shared the graph over Twitter which says Apple M1 hit 1300 in single-core and 5400 in multiform on Geekbench 5. On the other hand, Surface Pro X reaches up to 800 and 3000, respectively, which shows how Surface Pro X functions slow with its OS.

MacBook Air M1 and External Monitor

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 06:03 PM PST

Just purchased a MacBook Air m1 and recently found out that there are issues with external monitors. I have several monitors included an HP, Samsung, Asus and an old mac monitor. Will any of these work with the MacBook Air m1?

Could be a deal breaker if not and would like to cancel my order if this is not fixable.

Did or would you buy an M1 MBP with 256gb or 512gb SSD?

Big Sur, noticing when I do a command + shift + 4 to copy a screen selection, I hear a sound effect. How do I turn that off?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 07:52 PM PST

This is new to me, and it sounds like a notification all the time. Not a fan and not sure how to turn it off yet.

    Hi All,

I bought Logitech Mx Master 3 mouse to my new MacBook Pro m1. The mouse is awesome but it works laggy on the MacBook. Is it normal or are there any updates for M1chip. Besides to that, I have already installed the Logitech Options program but nothing changed...

M1 MBA lags and freeze when I play league of legends

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 05:30 PM PST

Game is unplayable at 90FPS. I used to play on medium specs before even high specs with no issues and all of a sudden it started being super laggy frames and the laptop would completely freeze every 4 minutes or so making the game Unplayable. Wondering if anyone has similar issues....

Lifelong Windows user, what should I know about my new MBA M1 16gb?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 05:20 PM PST

My MBA M1 16gb finally arrives this week. I've always been a Windows user on the PC side of things, although I have been in the Apple ecosystem for 8 years with an iPad, iPhone and an Apple Watch most recently.

This will be my first Apple PC product, I'm excited to check it out! My use is pretty basic - web browsing, listening to music, reading about finance and messing about with my portfolio/stocks, etc. I love tech, especially new tech. Anything cool I should know or do in the first week or so getting the MBA M1?

    Thanks I'm advance!

    M1 MBA recall?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 10:35 AM PST

So after receiving 2 defective MBA (both unbalanced and wobbly) I'm starting to wonder...

Do you guys think they'll do a recall? There have been lots of people with this same problem. Just search Reddit and you'll see, it's been an issue in the past as well.

In fact, I'd bet more people have this problem that we know, but lots of people just never notice and/or slap a case on their laptops so the problem disappears anyway.

    What do you guys think?

I challenge all of you with an M1 MBA, check if your laptop is even when on a flat surface, without the case obviously!

Tried to update to Big Sur from Sierra and it’s stuck in update/incomplete. TLDR; should I buy a new one or pay for it to be repaired?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 04:03 PM PST

I have a 2017 MacBook Air. No major problems but I my apps couldn't update which was a problem for some of my online classes. I updated to the Big Sur overnight, but it got stuck and couldn't complete. I reach out to Apple for troubleshooting. We tried to restart four different ways but nothing was working. She said I should just send it in to be fixed. I was quoted just under $500. However, she couldn't tell me if the repair was going to end with me having an updated macOS or if they would just put it back to how it was before. Should I risk having a Mac sent back to me that can't be updated? Or because it's $500, and a new MacBook Air basic for students is $899, should I just invest in a new laptop? Thanks in advance!

for Big Sur, is there a way to add the widgets to the desktop itself instead of just the Notification Center?

MBP keyboard service program eligibility after repair

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 08:34 AM PST

I have a 2017 MBP which suffered a SSD failure a while ago. Since the official repair cost was too high, I ordered a Apple SSD online and replaced it myself. Now my keyboard is starting to fail and I'm planning to get it repaired under the service program.

Would my repair get declined due to unauthorized repair? Can the service center tell if a machine was opened previously and/or the SSD is not the original one?

Im in finance and most of my time is spent in Excel, the rest of the ms office softwares, MatLab, and Anaconda. USB-C on M1 Mac

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 12:26 PM PST

    Hello,

I came upon to realize that there is a huge problem going around with USB-C charging and the M1 Macs.

Since I'm interested in the Air and need other ports I decided to look on Apple's sight to find an adapter and came across their

" USB_C Digital AV Multiport Adapter"

    https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MUF82AM/A/usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter

Does anyone use this adapter with USB-C PD on the M1 MacBook? If so, do you have anything to say as to if it caused the error to happen?

I was thinking that since this is their own adapter the problem shouldn't happen and even if it does happen since I'll be using Apple's own adapter the repair process might be cheaper and easier?

Thank you for the help everyone.

    Considering buying a M1 Air 16/512, dealbreakers to know about M1 / Rosetta ?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 07:35 AM PST

    Hello,

I need a small / light laptop with a good build quality, screen, battery, the M1 Air checks my criterias, it would also be the first time I own a Apple product, first experience with MacOS

I'd definitely do some Unix stuff, that's why I'd choose a Air instead of a XPS 13 for example.

Could you shed me some light on the current state of M1 chip, app compatibility and how Rosetta runs ? :)

Is there anything I should know, stuff that can be really bothering or stuff that can be a dealbreaker compared to a classic Intel MB Air ?

    Thanks !

Cheap / Thick / Rubbery MacBook Case?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2021 06:11 AM PST

Hi, I have the impression that all MacBook cases fall into the two categories slim / invisible / elegant and expensive / tactical / professional. I just wonder if there exist also cases like there are plenty for iPhones, cheap / thick / rubbery?
