Is the JetDrive Lite 130 worth buying? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:24 PM PST Hi I am wondering if there are any users around that use the JetDrive Lite 130 (or maybe even any of its variants for other macs), and would be willing to answer a few questions: - Is it worth buying? - Is the speed noticeable slower than doing storage operations in the internal storage? - Can I "eject" it and use it in other devices? - How has your experience with it been? Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Newbie Question - using Macbook pro as extended monitor from Windows laptop Posted: 01 Feb 2019 10:26 AM PST I've hunted all over but cannot find the answer. I travel for work with my primary office laptop being windows and my Macbook pro (purchased 2018). I have the two lightening connectors on my Mac and a mini docking station adapter that has HDMI, USB, etc. I want to be able to use my Mac monitor to extend the screen from my PC. How can I accomplish this? I tried simply connecting HDMI to my windows machine plugged into the HDMI of my mini dock on the Mac but nothing happened. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Just wondering if anyone could help me Posted: 01 Feb 2019 09:27 AM PST Hi, I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro(8,1) which recently stopped working and I was getting a strange error message saying "No Bootable Device Found" I have had several chats with apple from the online chat and over the phone and they could never find a fix over the phone for it just wondered if anyone else had any ideas that could work I have tried all the keyboard commands on start up using the internal keyboard and several external keyboards one of them being a magic keyboard and I have also tried resetting the PRAM and the SMC neither of these worked as well. Also just for reference it will boot in to windows 7 install but not windows 10 or any version of Mac OSX including Mac OSX Lion in which the machine originally ran, I have tried the original disk of Lion which came with my MacBook, yet non of these seem to work but I can install windows 7 then upgrade to windows 10 to add all of the bootcamp options which I currently have at this current time and even from the bootcamp options within windows 10 it still will not boot in to any kind of Mac start up installation medias including disk's and USB's I have tried putting an original Mac hard drive in to the machine which I took from a friends working MacBook which is the same model of the 8,1 yet still no result, I have also tried swapping out the hard drive and disk drive connectors and still no results I just miss my MacBook and feel as though I need it back, all help would be appreciated Thanks Josh [link] [comments]
2016 3.1 Ghz i5 vs 2018 2.3 Ghz i5 Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:35 AM PST I am a UI/UX designer, I am going to buy a MacBook Pro soon, I am stuck between these two options. Both of them have 265 GB and 16GB ram. The 2016 one is refurbished, and it costs $1600. The 2018 one will cost $1700 new. [link] [comments]
MacAddress Setting is Broken 2018 MBP Air Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:06 AM PST The MacBook Air 2018 is broken and you can't change Mac address. ifconfig finishes, but the link address is just the same. Apple do you read this? I see lots of dead threads and the feature works in Windows under boot camp.... just not on MacOS? [link] [comments]
How reliable are the 13 inch 2018 MBPs? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 06:57 AM PST My 2015 15 inch Retina is a little bulky for me to be carrying around in college. Though I love it to death and hate the new design / keyboard. I might just need to be realistic that I need something highly portable and thin. The power it's pushing under the hood is just kinda un necessary to me now, though I do love. More battery life would be ideal. So the best MBP speed wise / core wise is the touch bar one right. Except that the touch bar is not something I want. Are the new butterfly 3 keyboards in the 2018 nTB mbps? At the same time are these butterfly issues a low rate of concern? I know online forums can be flooded with issues if there is one. But what's the actuality of it happening to everyone who buys it? No ways it's like 50% right or else it would be an uproar? Just some rambling concerns but I'd appreciate any 2016-2018 MBP owners feedback. I could buy the recent one or the older ones. Im just out of loop on which version is the best to get since I've held onto my 2015 version. [link] [comments]
Rookie question: how come processing clock speeds don’t seem faster from ten years ago? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 06:18 AM PST My 2007 iMac has a 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo processor. The newest midrange MacBook Air has a 2.3 ghz dual core intel core i5. I'm sure the newer version is way faster but shouldn't we be put to 5 ghz or something after 12 years? [link] [comments]
Does the 2018 Macbook Air have the anti-reflective coating? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 05:27 AM PST I recently bought Whoosh so that I could clean my screen when needed. I stumbled upon their website saying that they are not responsible for damaging the screens of Macbooks with the said coating. Does the 2018 MBA have this coating and should I be worried about using Whoosh on my MBA? [link] [comments]
2018 Macbook Pros Crashing/Freezing Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:59 AM PST Brand new laptop, 2018, mojave. Keeps crashing randomly once a week to several times a week. Not sure what is wrong but when it freezes, the trackpad, clicks and mouse are all not responding, screen is frozen. If I am on chat (discord), I could still hear people talking but my screen is frozen. Must hard reset every single time. What's wrong? I can't believe I paid so much for a brick. Beautiful laptop, quick and I liked it until I started using it for over a month. Now throughly disappointed because of the freezes and crashes. This is too much. Any solutions besides visiting the dumb bar again? Seriously can't be a genius buying this overpriced chunk of ... anymore. [link] [comments]
