2018 iPad Pro only charging in one direction Posted: 01 Feb 2019 04:22 PM PST I just got a new 12.9" iPad Pro last week and I noticed today that it only charges when I plug it in one way. I tried moving the cord around a little and nothing happens, but I can take it out and flip it over and it starts charging right away. I thought it was just the cord I have at work but I tested it with 2 other cords when I got home and it's the same thing with those. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 12:22 PM PST Almost feel bad asking, but there's no stupid questions right? eek. You can't get malware from a received picture in an app like KIK or Whataspp can you? I'm pretty sure you can't but I have to ask. [link] [comments] |
Yes/No to getting an Apple Watch? (3 or 4, non LTE) Posted: 01 Feb 2019 06:02 AM PST The company I work for recently revamped an incentive program and now I have a bunch of points for a corporate store and I have been on the fence for buying an Apple Watch. I wouldn't have to pay a single dollar based on what I have accrued but I wanted to poll folks who have the Apple Watch (specifically the 3 or 4, non LTE) and find out if it's worth it. Thanks! Editing song info in iTunes on a Mac adds to the song's duration. Is there a way to fix this issue? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 09:29 PM PST I moved my iTunes library to an external HDD about a year ago. I recently noticed that when I edit song info in iTunes on my Macbook, the song becomes anywhere from 5 to 50 seconds longer and starts looping. Interestingly enough, this issue isn't present when I import and edit songs in iTunes in Windows and only seems to affect MP3s and not FLAC or ALAC. I believe this issue started when I upgraded to macOS Mojave. Any ideas on what might be causing the issue and how to resolve it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 09:17 PM PST I bought this 2013 iMac from an auction. They had wiped the HD. Upon first start up I get this blue windows error screen with that error code. How do I clear this and reinstall OS? I only have a PC keyboard and wireless magic keyboard that I can't connect to the Mac. The Apple boot up logo also does not appear on start up. It goes from blank screen to blue error screen. Any help would be awesome! [link] [comments] |
I can't find drivers for Windows on a Mid 2009 Macbook Posted: 01 Feb 2019 08:08 PM PST The mac keys on the keyboard and the sound aren't working, I can't find Bootcamp drivers on this. Windows was installed with a USB Drive, Bootcamp wasn't used [link] [comments] |

When I try to play a song, by pressing play or tapping the song, it saids not playing then skips to another song. Any suggestions to fix this? The phone is a xr if that helps [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:10 PM PST So ever since Apple removed facetime photos and added them back in iOS 12 none of mine have been saving. I press the button and get the message "You took a FaceTime Photo". I check my photos app and nothing is there. How do I solve this? [link] [comments] |
Asking for MBP flashing "?" Folder Solutions Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:03 PM PST My Mac: MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.7 13" Early 2015 I can't go into safe mode. Resetting the smc/pram doesn't work. The internet recovery option works but when I go into disk utility only one drive can be found disk0: os x base system. This MBP can't also detect the bootable usb I made but I have an older mbp (2009 i think) that can. Idk why. I think the only solution I haven't tried is replacing the flex cable or the ssd but those will take a while to order. Any other possible fixes you guys can think of? [link] [comments] |

iMac WiFi completely stops working until restart Posted: 01 Feb 2019 06:12 PM PST So I have had this problem for a while and just ignored it. But it is really starting to get annoying. My iMac is from 2011, the one before the current design. It came install with Snow Leopard and I have upgraded it until I stopped caring and it's running Sierra right now. This problem started when it was on El Capitan. And it has continued on to Sierra so it's probably not a OS issue. Randomly the WiFi completely stops work. In normal use, when I click on the WiFi button on the menu bar, it lists over 50 available networks to connect to. But when randomly nothing internet related things work and I click on the WiFi button again, the list of available networks disappears. Turning WiFi on and off does nothing. Can't test if internet works with Ethernet cause the modem is very far away. The only way to fix the issue is to restart the iMac. WiFi works as intended. I don't have a clue why this is happening or how to replicate it. Don't know if it's a failing WiFi card, or some setting that is messed up. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |

Apple Mail: How to organize LOTS of rules? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 10:57 AM PST I like to use Apple Mail - it's simple enough and integrated. I also love the rule feature - sending an incoming mail right into the folder it belongs. Now, I am so much into rules that I have literaly hundreds of them. Which is basically no problem for Apple Mail. But organizing these rules is really hard. I can't sort them by first letter and I don't see which ones are applied before others in case they both apply. Are there any useful add-ons I should consider? Is there any nice way to organize lots of Mail rules? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
My 2014 macbook pro has when I turn it on and won’t go away. Posted: 01 Feb 2019 12:55 PM PST I just bought it from someone. When I started it up originally, it said it couldn't download high Sierra from the servers. I turned it off then on and now I'm stuck with the 🚫 sign on my screen when I turn it on. Can't get to any other screen except that. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 03:49 PM PST Hello! I was recently trying to cut together audio in iMovie, when I encountered this annoying problem between two different audio clips (no video). For example, I would move one audio clip to the left in the audio track and a separate audio clip before it in the track would just straight up disappear. Or if I tried to delete an audio clip, the one before it would also get deleted, despite them being two separate clips. Is this just an iMovie quirk or is my program not functioning normally. Thanks! MacBook Pro 2017 13-inch Flashing folder with question mark Posted: 01 Feb 2019 11:48 AM PST Model: MacBook Pro 2017 13-inch (Non-Touchbar) Version: macOS Sierra 10.12.6 A week or two ago I began having the flashing folder w/ a question mark issue when booting the laptop from sleep (auto sleep from inactivity) or shutdown. This issue started occurring around the time after I (1.) updated the software to its latest version whereas before I never bothered with the updates, and (2.) when I accidentally hit the middle-right side of the bottom of my laptop against the corner of a desk (which is what I suspect is the actual cause of my issue). The hit was not very hard at all and I use a protective case with my MacBook. Through personal troubleshooting I suspect that the issue is my hard drive cable was somehow damaged or perhaps its connection was dislodged rather than it being due to a hard drive failure. This is because (from what I've read) I can still startup and use my MacBook perfectly fine (after jumping through hoops to get past the flashing folder screen)1 which I shouldn't be able to do if my hard drive has failed. Even now as I type this I am using the laptop with the issue in question. 1 About the jumping through hoops part: If I close the lid, auto sleep from inactivity occurs, or shutdown and restart in the short term I can startup my MacBook again perfectly fine without getting the flashing folder (I have not timed exactly how long). It's in the long term where the issue happens (usually overnight or after school) and to get past the flashing folder I found that if I restart to recovery mode, enter disk utility, then enter startup disk, then shutdown (restarting doesn't work) and manually start up with the power button, I can login and use my MacBook perfectly fine (100% success rate as far as I remember). I know that sounds really strange but it's what I've been doing. I should also note that in the beginning when this first happened while in recovery mode my hard drive would sometimes show up in disk utility and startup disk but not always. But now when I go into recovery mode after restarting the hard drive never shows up in disk utility or startup disk. While trying to fix the issue myself I have tried to:
Assuming based on what I've said that it is a hard drive cable issue, should I try to repair it myself or bring it to an Apple store? Before writing this post originally I was going to bring it to an approved Apple repair location until I discovered that there would be a $99 charge just for them diagnosing the issue (my warranty has run out as I've had the laptop for 2 years). I'm not sure if bringing it to an actual Apple store would lead to a similar charge that I'm not willing to pay (I was hoping for <$50) so I opted to making this post instead. Sorry for the long post and thank you in advance to anyone who can offer any help or advice. Edit: Updated information about my MacBook [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 11:31 AM PST So, I've been having a fiasco trying to get windows bootcamp running. I currently own a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017), version 10.14.3 Mojave, and for the love of god bootcamp does not want to load for the life of me. Here are the things I have done to try and fix things Ran my drive through disk utility's first aid, from the laptop itself and through Command+S Completely reinstalled OSX turned off filevault to try and update it Reset PRAM Verified my primary disk Manually set up a FAT partition and tried to set it up through that Cleared out any/all corrupted time machine saves, went back into a previous save and tried through there ran fsck_apfs -s -o -y /dev/rdisk1 a few times Here is the apple support page I setup to try to get this issue resolved with user Loner T https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250117333?page=1 Here is the recent log from sudo fsck_apfs -n -l /dev/rdisk1 https://gist.github.com/BuggyHyperdrive/cf77192a247d48a2264a4dcf4e60ddcd And here are a few images to show what happens when I try to partition my drive with bootcamp, what happened when I tried to partition the drive with a FAT partition already set up, and the results from setting up bootcamp from my latest attempt. I'm starting to get frustrated from all of this, because I never had to do any of this during the high sierra update, but now I have spent about five days (counting today) trying to get this resolved. If anyone has any ideas on what else I can do, I am all ears. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 09:05 AM PST So I made a video on iMovie on my phone. My phone has recently been acting up, and before I could export the video all my photos and videos were wiped off my phone. The iMovie video is still there, however I cannot play or share it as the original files are missing from my phone. Is there any way to somehow move the project with the missing files to iMovie on my MacBook Pro, or do I need to send myself everything from iCloud from my Mac to my iPhone (and if so, what is the best way to do this)? Help is much appreciated, as the project I made really means a lot to me! I am using an iPhone 6S with iOS 10.2.1 if that helps (yes, I know I'm a little behind with updates). [link] [comments] |
MBP 13" Early 2015 popping/clicking sound Posted: 01 Feb 2019 11:07 AM PST Hi, Guys, I have experienced some weird thing lately. I own a MacBook Pro Retina 13" Early 2015. Mac is used "stationary" which means I occasionally take him outside. If I do - always in a backpack. It has like 2,5 years now, bought as new (warranty expired). Used for coding, graphics and office. 3 or 4 days ago I heard something. Popping/clicking sound (like from a HDD). It comes from a fan section. It occurs randomly, sometimes every 10-15 sec, sometimes once in a while... It is really annoying, especially when no sound is being played. This sound is not so loud but I'm pretty sensitive to this. Okay, so what I've done so far: 1) Removed lower lid and cleaned a fan with compressed air (without disassembling it) 2) SMC reset 3) NVRAM reset Unfortunately, it didn't help. Cleaning helped for a while, though. (I think it's less often now). Is there anything I can do before I will take it to the Apple service? Have You ever experienced something like this? Can it be a serious problem (like graphic card or MOBO)? I found some videos about this issue, but to be honest, not so helpful, without any solution and clear reasons. Thanks in advance! Low volume from iPhone speaker Posted: 01 Feb 2019 02:37 PM PST Currently using an iPhone 8+ and when I'm on a call I can barely hear the other person on the line unless I'm using speakerphone or headphones. I've tried adjusting the accessibility settings (noise cancellation) to no avail. Anyone experienced this before and know what I can try? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Needing assistance with unlocking an IPad Posted: 01 Feb 2019 02:07 PM PST I'm trying to sell my 4 year old iPad, and have ran into an issue. I don't remember the password, nor can I reset it because I can't remember my Apple ID. I'm also not aware of the model. I'm wanting to at least get in and move whatever data I may have elsewhere. How can I access it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:36 PM PST Hi, I am moving some of my iDevice backups to an external drive (Transend 256gb SD Card) I moved (copied actually) one folder and the space it took up has confused me. on external drive 28,998,614,037 bytes (43.92 GB on disk) for 79,535 items on Mac 28,998,614,037 bytes (29.21 GB on disk) for 79,535 items Question - why has external drive doubled the amount of space needed? Transend is set up as: Mount Point: /Volumes/Transcend File System: ExFAT [link] [comments] |
Is there any way on my Mac to make it so that FaceTime phone calls don't shift my desktop? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:14 AM PST Pretty much as stated. It's insanely annoying. If I'm working on an email or using Remote Desktop and someone calls me, the default is to jolt back to Desktop 1. I haven't found any way to change this setting in services or FaceTime preferences. Thanks for any/all help! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:04 AM PST So I have an ipad pro 12.9 (2nd gen with home button) and my apple pencil appears to have scratched the screen. Should I exchange it (I have apple care) or am i being too picky? Also, I dont know if this contributed but my screen friction feels higher than usual (when im erasing for example, the pencil doesn't 'glide'). This is why I struggled to remove the smudging Thanks for your help! [link] [comments] |
What should I do about my MacBook Pro? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 12:18 PM PST Alright a bit of backstory. I bought a brand new 2017 model of the MacBook Pro in November of 2017. This was my first big purchase from them which cost me around $1500+. After 2 months, probably around the same time last year, my MacBook is acting up and randomly shuts down. Any time I would log in, turn it on, or be on it for 20 minutes or so, it would shut down. So I went to Apple and talked to them about the situation. Since it was still under warranty ( NOTE: I did not purchase Apple Care since I knew I wasn't going to damage it in any way since I'm very careful with my electronics. So I had the limited 1 year warranty.) I sent it in and they replaced my SSD free of charge. I get it back and everything seems to be fine. Fast forward to three days ago. I go and turn on my MacBook and it starts doing the SAME shut down problem AGAIN. I contact Apple and make an appointment. I come in and leave my MacBook with them for them to diagnose the problem. They tell me that it might be a Software problem, but I for sure know already it's a hardware problem. But who knows? I get a call minutes ago from the Apple store telling my MacBook now has a motherboard problem. Now, here is where I'm really conflicted. They tell me I have to pay $475 to get a replacement of the board. I notice that I'm no longer under the warranty and now am left with two choices. 1) Pay for it and get it replaced 2) Don't get it replaced and have a non working MacBook laying around. I'm currently kind of angry of my purchase because I really thought that this was going to last me a long time. This was an investment for me. But it seems that it's only lasted for little over a year. What would you guys suggest me do? I really like enjoy Apples products, but this experience has been stressful. TLDR: Bought new 2017 MacBook Pro. Sent it once for repair 2-3months after purchase because of faulty drive. Works fine until 3 days ago and now they are asking me to pay $475 for a replacement motherboard and I'm no longer under warranty. Thought MacBook would last a long time, but it only lasted about a year. Me = Stressed. [link] [comments] |
