Anyone else suddenly having issues with iMessage? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 03:36 PM PST I've got a 2017 13" MBP. It's been working like a charm since I ever got it. Lately, iMessage in particular has been acting a little shitty when opening it. It'll open but stay frozen for about 10ish seconds before kicking back into gear and working normally. I don't recall this ever happening before and I'm curious if any of ya'll are having similar issues. [link] [comments]
2015 MacBook Pro: Is there a way I can close the lid and keep the display active? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 03:48 PM PST I have a 2015 MacBook Pro with the latest software AFAIK, and I'm wondering if there is a way to close the lid of the laptop and keep the display active. I am trying to run my laptop through an HDMI cord to my tv to use as an entertainment hub, with a wireless keyboard and mouse controlling everything. Is there any way that I can close the lid of the laptop and keep the computer responsive? TIA! [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Feb 2019 10:58 PM PST I'm not even sure why my trackpad and keyboard even stopped working. If you guys can fix the magic mouse issue, could you also try to identify why my trackpad and keyboard stopped working? I can't even click down on the trackpad and not a single key responds except the power button. It doesn't work when I try to reset the SMC because it says I need a mouse/keyboard signal which the one on the MacBook doesn't work nor do i have mice that connect through USB-C. This is what the screen looks like whenever I boot up my MacBook I am on Mojave and I have the 2017 MacBook 13" with no touch bar [link] [comments]
Macbook running insanely slow, cant open applications Posted: 25 Feb 2019 10:37 PM PST I have a 2017 Macbook Pro with 16 gb of ram, and I cannot run anything on it. I went to the activity monitor and it says I have over 8 gb of compressed memory, everything else seems to be normal. It keeps asking me to force close applications and freezes to the point where it is unusable. I booted in safe mode and it is fine. What should I do to fix it? Should I bring it into an Apple store? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 10:50 AM PST I have a Macbook Pro that I got in 2013. It has been going strong since then, with honestly no issues besides the fact I still don't know how to fully utilize it. But anyways, the only annoying thing is start up is sooo long. Now I'm not sure if its because its usually always in sleep mode, and never off, let me know. But i'll open in it and I can hear it "wake up" and then it'll slowly go to the sign in screen, but it'll be frozen, can't move the mouse, can still hear it turning on. Then the screen will go black, as if it went to sleep again, so i have to press the "on" button again, or click the space bar to wake it up. It will show the sign in screen again, still be frozen for a bit, but not as long, and THEN I can finally type in my password and sign in. And even then when I get to my home screen it'll take a little before I can fully navigate without it going slowly. Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong? Should I be turning it off more often?...as I'm typing this out that seems the most obvious to me. [link] [comments]

Will unscrewing the bottom of 2017 Macbook Pro void warranty? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 02:30 PM PST I'm sorry if this has been posted before, I did a quick search and couldn't find anything current. Will unscrewing the bottom of the 2017 Macbook Pro void apple care? I just want to take a look and see if some dust got in there (I just bought this laptop used and it is dirty). There is 2 years left on apple care+ for this laptop and I don't want to void it, but I also wanna use my compressed air to get crud out of there. Thanks for your help! Ifixit.com didn't have a guide for this model yet. Edit: I also want to note I've opened and repaired/upgraded previous models before so I know what I am doing, but this one is new. just pure curiosity, nothing important Posted: 25 Feb 2019 05:09 PM PST Just wondering how do usb devices (for example: usb mouse) work when connected to a macbook/windows computer.. I am assuming they work by using the MacBooks power (a plugged-in mouse uses the laptop's energy in order to work) but then , does that mean it drains the computer's battery? So in a scenario where I need to save as much battery as I can, should I not plug any usb mouses or any other usb devices? I doubt it will make much of a difference having a mouse plugged or not, just curious to know if someone knows more about this.. [link] [comments]

Mouse cursor missing on startup Posted: 25 Feb 2019 02:57 PM PST Once in awhile when I boot my MacBook Pro (2017, non-TB), the cursor won't show up on the screen. This is quickly resolved by pressing Mission Control. Has anyone else seen this? Any permanent fixes? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

Need help finding a dock station that supports 3 x USB 3.0 and 2 x Displayport Posted: 25 Feb 2019 02:55 AM PST Hi! I need some help with finding a dock station that's compatible with the new generation MacBook Pro's. We have a new MacBook with 4 x Thunderbolt (USB-C) but 2 x Screens with Display port. I'm looking for a dock station where we can plug in both the screens and some USB 3.0 accessories and still only use 1 Thunderbolt (USB-C) cable to the computer. So the dock needs power as well. It is going to be a stationary dock so size is not really an issue. Does anyone have any experience or can recommend one? I've been looking at the Dell D6000 dock but some people are complaining about it not really working etc. Any tips are highly appreciated! Thanks! [link] [comments]
Macbook 12" (early 2015) external displays resolutions Posted: 25 Feb 2019 10:13 AM PST Hi everybody. I'm going to move my office from home to a co-working space soon. For the new office I need a monitor and I'm a bit confused. I have a Macbook 12" (early 2015) and I know this thing does support 4K, but only on 30hz. But there are also monitors with resolutions like 3440x1440px, which isn't 4K. But does that mean it would be able to do that on 60hz? At home I got a 2560x1440 monitor, running on 60hz. But if I would be able to get just a bit more screen real estate, it would be perfect :) [link] [comments]
