Posted: 25 Feb 2019 08:41 PM PST I'm stuck with the '16 MBP screen problem that many people are encountering. I'm wondering which model I need to get to avoid this again. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2019 12:09 PM PST Hi! I have an iPhone 6s and want to upgrade soon. Should I buy an iPhone XR or an iPhone X? I've seen both and while knowing that the screen in the X is far superior, I really can't tell the difference. I want the one with the best battery life, performance and camera. Which one do you think I should get? [link] [comments] |
Messed up Macbook Pro & Charger Posted: 25 Feb 2019 06:00 PM PST Hey! I'm an anxious/broke college kid with a late 2011, 13-inch Macbook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.3 and I'm worried that it got fried/damaged after a charger mishap that reset the computer, and I don't know what to do? I've been using an aftermarket charger to charge my computer for a while with no trouble, but last night when I unplugged the charger from the wall, I yanked too hard and this part of the charger hit the wall really hard- my computer, which was fully charged beforehand, shut down and didn't respond to anything (pressing the power button, pressing the side button with the LED indicators for battery, etc) and I was really freaking out, thinking my computer & charger were totally boned- I held down the power button for maybe ~4 seconds and the computer powered back on, but on startup there were a few things that make me think that something internal was damaged/oversurged/etc? Like, startup took longer than normal (I don't particularly remember how long, and this could've just been me panicking, but I also feel like I was looking at the white loading screen for at least a couple minutes longer than a normal startup?) Also, when turned back on, the computer didn't know the time or date & I had to manually go into the settings and fix it (which reminds me of when the internal batteries in gameboy games get messed up, which really freaks me out about this whole situation ngl) I also feel like the computer is taking longer to charge and loses battery way faster than it did before, but I also don't know that for certain- I also haven't reset/turned off the computer since it happened, since I'm terrified that next time it won't turn on again (this is also why I haven't tried any SMC/other resets- apparently SMC resets can kill a computer if it's a hardware/logic board issue rather than anything else, and I honestly can't afford to replace this thing?) I'm just. really freaked out and kind of worried that something happened, and I don't know if it's safe to turn off/reset/smc reset the computer because of all this stuff? I know this whole situation is kind of wack, but mainly I'm looking for any relevant info & reassurance that I haven't completely fucked up my laptop. Thanks! (also, the charger is straight-up broken lol currently I'm borrowing somebody else's) [link] [comments] |
MBP 13 (10.14.3) frequently loses wifi connectivity at home!! Posted: 25 Feb 2019 05:42 PM PST I've got a 2017 MBP 13 running 10.14.3, and I continually experience an issue where internet connectivity is dropped. I notice that it stops working because my Dropbox status bar icon goes grey (and of course no webpages load). The solution to fix the issue is to "Turn WiFi Off" and immediately turn it back on. It reconnects successfully every time. But still very annoying! I'm using Spectrum internet with the cable modem they have provided: Technicolor TC8715D. Other devices on my network are iPhones, Apple TV, PS4, Vizio TV, Alexa devices, Dyson device... Nothing else seems to have this issue that I'm aware of... Any ideas why my MBP refuses to keep a constant connection? WiFi channel perhaps? [link] [comments] |
Can I access an iMac's ports on a Macbook while in Target Display Mode? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 10:15 PM PST So I have a Macbook connected to my iMac with a Thunderbolt 2 cable. Would I be able to access the USB ports on the iMac from the Macbook. For example if I connected my phone to the iMac's usb, would I be able to open it in iTunes while in Target Display, or would it have to be connected to the Macbook? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2019 08:47 PM PST I have checked my settings and they are all like they are supposed to be so I was just curious why this would be happening. iPhone XS btw not that it should matter. Running the latest firmware but it has been happening for as long as I can remember. Any possible solutions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2019 08:42 PM PST I'm not even sure why my trackpad and keyboard even stopped working. If you guys can fix the magic mouse issue, could you also try to identify why my trackpad and keyboard stopped working? I can't even click down on the trackpad and not a single key responds except the power button. I am on Mojave and I have the 2017 MacBook 13" with no touch bar [link] [comments] |
Water spilled on 2018 MacBook Pro Posted: 25 Feb 2019 04:51 PM PST Hi, Earlier tonight I spilled a small amount of water on my 2018 MacBook Pro near the trackpad. A small amount went onto the keyboard. I wiped it all off instantly while mashing the keys in order to squeeze the water out, I feel like very little if any actually made it under the keys. I turned the laptop off straight away, then turned it on again a couple minutes later (stupid I know). Everything seemed to be working fine, all of the keys etc working completely normal. I've turned it off and put some paper towels on the keyboard and flipped it upsides down a couple of hours ago. Checked it a few times since and the paper towels aren't wet at all. Basically I'm just wondering how likely it is that I've done any damage? Do these MacBooks have any form of water protection (as I know the new MacBook keyboards have something to protect from dust under the keys - might that help a bit?). Am I likely to be in the clear? Going to leave it 24hrs before using it again, just panicking a bit I only bought it a month ago. Thanks [link] [comments] |
iOS dictionnaires keep vanishing? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 08:33 PM PST Hi all Has anybody else noticed that their dictionary selections keep vanishing every few weeks? For example, I use British English and French in my proofreading and look-up functions of iOS, but after a few weeks I start noticing that "look up" returns no results and forces me to "search the web". This occurs because my dictionary selections have been unselected. I've had to re-select them more than 3 times thus far. Am I the only one experiencing this? I'm on 12.1.4, iPhone Xs. Does Apple Music suck up your music collection? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 08:03 PM PST I have a three month Apple Music trial that I've never used because I heard some bad things about it at launch. Can anybody verify that your native mp3s on your phone go unharmed by joining AppleMusic? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2019 02:43 PM PST I hope find some help around Redditors who know things way better than me. Long Short story I try to pry open my Retina Display Macbook Pro 13" from early 2015 if I'm not mistaken to make sure is it SATA / M.2 NVME SSD inside and turns out Apple put out their proprietary standards as usual. Then I close it up, but everything back into where it suppose to be but when I try to turn it on it won't turn on like usual. After that I realize that I leave something behind, oh by the way how to upload pictures here? [link] [comments] |
I suddenly have a gap to the right of all my folder windows that won't close permanently Posted: 25 Feb 2019 06:20 PM PST OS X 10.14.3 I have no idea how I did this. I can drag the window frame to the right and show the entire window, but when I close the window and open it again, that gap is there again. My searching on the internet just shows me how to set the standard view instead of how to close that gap. How did I do this, and how to I get rid of the gap? [link] [comments] |
Can an apple homepod understand multiple languages at once? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 04:14 AM PST My grandma speaks chinese primarily while I primarily speak english, any way we can both speak to the same homepod and have it understand both of us? [link] [comments] |
Can't enable extensions in Safari Posted: 25 Feb 2019 04:18 PM PST Currently running Safari 12.0.1 on Mojave 10.14.1 Under the develop menu in Safari, the "Disable Extensions" is checked for some reason (I never checked this). When I click "Allow Unsigned Extensions", it asks me for my system password, which it always rejects, even though it's the correct password. I've tried rebooting & resetting password. This is driving me crazy and if I have to watch another Youtube or Twitch ad I'm going to lose my mind. Please help. [link] [comments] |
How do I browse the files on a Macbook Air SSD from a Windows 10 desktop? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 04:17 PM PST Help me out, spilled some water on a 2013 Macbook Air A1465, board seems to be dead, fan spins up but nothing else happening. I'm trying to see if the SSD is fine. I bought this A1465 SSD to PCI-E Adapter and it sees my SSD, as you can see here it's Disk 1, but how do I browse the files in a Windows 10 desktop? [link] [comments] |
Automatic updates have never worked Posted: 25 Feb 2019 04:16 PM PST Ever since automatic updates was released with iOS 12.0 they have never worked for me and I end up installing it myself weeks later. Right now, I have had iOS 12.1.4 showing "iPhone will try to install this update later tonight" for two weeks now. My iCloud backs up fine every night so I'm on WiFi and charging, yet updates won't install. I have been in contact with Apple Support who gave limited level 1 help:
Issue still persists. Anyone else experiencing this or similar? Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Apple music for student error ''There was a problem confirming that you are a student'' Posted: 25 Feb 2019 04:08 PM PST I'm trying to come back to Apple music for student (I've had it a couple of months in the past), but I can't subscribe and get this constant error message saying : ''There was a problem confirming that you are a student Try again later'' I don't know if any of you had this happen before. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2019 12:00 PM PST I have an iPhone 8-plus and have Apple Music. Even though this is rare I have found no reason for the issue. I usually put all of an artists music (by album) into a playlist so I can shuffle the discography. Sometimes the songs (sometimes all, sometimes some) are greyed out and unplayable. I click and an error pops up saying the item can't be played. But when I go to the search in Apple Music I can search and play the album without issue. When I delete the album from the playlist then try to re-add it, the same thing happens. Any idea of why this is happening? I have looked into settings and can't find anything. The only thing I haven't tried is creating a whole new playlist. https://i.imgur.com/Jrc6p1G.jpg You can see that Get Out is playable but none of the other songs are. [link] [comments] |
Applications automatically signing out when quit? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 03:30 PM PST At the moment I have issues with applications, like Skype and Evernote. When I close the application, I have to login again. Is there a way It can automatically sign in when I'm opening the software? Having this issue for a few days now. [link] [comments] |
Finder Crashing High Sierra Help! Posted: 25 Feb 2019 02:30 PM PST Hello, I have a laptop where the finder keeps crashing. I was able to keep fixing this for awhile by deleting the com.apple.finder.plist and the com.apple.sidebarlists.plist but this fix is no longer working for me, I've done a clean OS install as well. I was wondering if anyone had any more suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2019 10:19 AM PST Hello, i have been trying to make a High Sierra bootable usb following this guide: Apple Support guide Unfortunately as i try to download High Sierra from the store the file is only 12Mb and cannot be used to create the bootable usb. As i understand what i am downloading is just an installer, is there any way to download the full file from the app store? Thank you [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2019 07:44 AM PST EDIT: Turns out what I thought was a second Bluetooth antenna is apparently a second, smaller AirPort antenna. WiFi is connecting fine, not sure if that means the antenna is definitely working or unneeded because maybe it's an older protocol or I've lost bandwidth or something like that. I usually use ethernet anyway. [link] [comments] |
How can I copy files between an iPhone and a Macbook via USB? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 07:27 AM PST Is there a simple default way for me to simply connect via USB my iPhone to my Mac, and copy files from my Mac into my iPhone? I have yet to find a simple or available by default way of doing this. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
