2017 Macbook Pro sticky keys and claim denied saying I spilled liquid to cause stickiness. Posted: 19 Jan 2019 06:04 PM PST I have a 2017 Macbook Pro that I purchased brand new about a year ago that started having sticky, hardly usable keys a couple months ago. There's only 4 keys that stick (up arrow key, left, and down arrow key, and question mark key). Took it to a local repair shop (not apple store), but authorized retailer and the guy told me they found liquid damage and used some microscope thing to show me the "liquid" damage which didn't even look liquid to me under one of the keys. So they told me I have to pay out of pocket for something that otherwise would've been free if it wasn't my fault, apparently. What can I do about this? I never spilled anything on my computer and i'm pretty sure the stuff he showed me wasn't even liquid. [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Jan 2019 01:56 PM PST I am planning to buy a Macbook Pro very soon and I'm looking for advice on buying a dongle to support a few things. I'm looking at the 2017 no touchbar model which has 2 thunderbolt ports and I need to expand that a little. I would like to have
I've looked through Amazon and I'm a little bit concerned by the quality/durability of most dongles out there so I've come to ask here for some advice from people with hands on experience. Price isn't that much of an issue, I've been looking only on amazon because there doesn't seem to be a dongle like that sold directly by Apple. So I'd really appreciate some recommandations, thank you! [link] [comments]

Macbook Air 2018 battery draining during sleep mode Posted: 19 Jan 2019 04:11 AM PST I've noticed that my new MBA loses alot of charge while sleeping. Last night the battery was at 50% and now this morning it's at 20%. My older MBP didn't have this problem. Is this normal? Is the battery bad? [link] [comments]
Upgraded from 2015 MacBook Pro... to 2015 MacBook Pro Posted: 19 Jan 2019 11:27 AM PST So I've been using my 2015 13" Base MacBook Pro (i5, 8GB, 128GB) for a little bit over two years and I've had no problems at all. The other day, my roommate told me he wants a new computer (He has a 2009 White MacBook if I'm not mistaken, it's really slow) and asked me whether I'd like to sell him my computer. I told him I'd get back to him, so I started looking for computers and whether I should upgrade. I didn't want to get a new one, as I didn't wanna spend a lot of money on a new computer that I don't actually need. So I checked Kijiji (canadian Craigslist) and found a 2015 15" MacBook Pro for a pretty good price. I was able to negotiate a fair bit as it has French keyboard (not the French Canadian one, actually the AZERTY layout) and it has a fairly deep scratch on the screen. I checked its serial number before I went to check it out and it seemed pretty nice. (Bought in Late 2016, just like my base 13") So I basically ended up upgrading from a base model 13" to a pretty much all spec'd out 15" with only 160 cycles (13" had 531 as I handed it to my roommate) for around $150 CAD. It has the 2.5Ghz i7 (4870HQ), 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD and M370X Graphics. It's very fast, like I thought my base 13" was fast but this is a new level. It took a while for it to download 16000 e-mails and 8000 photos from iCloud and the fans were spinning at around 4000rpm, but after that it calmed down and I actually managed to get 8 hours on battery. I initially considered not buying it as it has French keyboard, but then I realized that I can just swap the keys and make it a QWERTY keyboard. (Except the smaller Enter key and the colon/quotation keys and number keys -- but I already know which button does what) I had no problems swapping the keys on the left side but when I was replacing M key with the ?/, key (French layout) I broke the ? key which initially bummed me out but I just ordered a couple of replacement keys. I knew my base Pro would last me quite some time and I know it'll absolutely last my roommate a long time, but I'm pretty sure this one will last even longer. [link] [comments]

How often should I let my battery run all the way to 0%? Posted: 19 Jan 2019 10:49 AM PST
On my second G1 MBP2016 w/TB. Speakers are blowing out on this model too. Posted: 19 Jan 2019 11:49 AM PST I've heard of apple occasionally deciding its better to just gift a newer version of an item than try to keep fixing what won't stay fixed. Think I might be in this situation if I bring mine in again? [link] [comments]
New poster, I have Macbook Pro Replacement battery question Posted: 19 Jan 2019 07:22 AM PST Hello. I came here to ask multiple questions about the Macbook Pro replacement battery. I have a 13 inch, early 2011 Macbook Pro that's in dire need of a replacement battery. And I hadn't changed it ever since the status of it appeared 4 years ago. Will replacing the battery replace the memory I have in my computer. I am honestly scared that replacing it will cause my work that I accumulated in 7 years to disappear. If the process does not remove memory, what replacement battery would you suggest? Thanks to anyone who answers. [link] [comments]
Tochbar: Show App Controls only in selected apps. (Default Extended Control Stripe) Posted: 19 Jan 2019 02:35 AM PST Hi, know how to show the function keys permanently for selected applications via settings (Keyboard > Shortcuts > Function Keys). However, is there a possibility to do so for the normal App Control view? I always have the Extended Control Stripe active, but like to switch the view for some apps (without having to press fn). I hope there is a trick, apple script or even a tool.. I know about BTT, but this is way to much for me.. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
