    Macbook Pro 2010. New logic board. Cannot install OS! Please help.

    So I had a dead MacBook Pro A1278 2009. Replaced logic board with a 2010 A1278. Perfect fit etc.

    I have no current OS install on any disk so figured I'd start a fresh using a snow leopard usb. I immediately get "cannot be installed on this computer" message.

    I have tried an alternate dmg for install but from that I get kernal panic and restart message.

    Internet recovery stalls on Apple logo after initial spinning globe and I have no recovery partition.

    Wth can I do to get this thing going?

    Also, I only have access to Windows or Linux as alternative means of creating bootable install drives.

    Transferring large video from iPhone to PC

    Good evening! I recorded a video on my iPhone 7+ this afternoon at 1080p, 60 fps. The problem is, the file size must be enormous as it doesn't show up in the DCIM folder when I connect to my Windows 10 laptop with the Lightning to USB cable.

    I've tried importing photos/videos though the Windows 10 photo app, no dice, it doesn't show up.

    I've tried multiple times to upload the video file to my Google Drive account and it just hangs.

    Why can't I see the file in the DCIM folder through Windows Explorer? Do I have any other options to get this video off of my phone directly to a computer?

    Deleting apps for one user and not another?

    Help me fix my iPhone 7+

    Hey everyone I just got my hands on a iPhone 7+. The screen needs to be replaced and I'm trying to find a toolkit on Amazon for it. I watched a video and I guess I need a Y000 screwdriver but all the kits that I want on Amazon only have a Y-tip 0.6mm. Is that the same thing and will it work?

    If you're familiar with the makeup of this iPhone could you also suggest some other screwdriver, parts, etc that I might need

    Mac OS Mojave Crashing - 2012 MacBook Pro 13in

    Hello,

    My OS keeps crashing, seemingly at random (sometimes right after booting up). I either get a total freeze of the system requiring a hard boot or I get a Kernal Panic.

    My MacBook has a Silicon Power Ace A55 256 Gb SSD for booting, original 750 Gb HDD has been placed in the disk drive slot, and the RAM has been upgrade to Corsair 16 Gb "Mac Memory". I suspect that it has something to do with this upgraded hardware however I could have screwed something up when making the SSD the boot drive.

    Here is the Panic Report I get.

    Any help / advice is greatly appreciated!

    Mac Mini (late 2012) and Pegasus R6..

    First off I apologize if this is the wrong place for this question. I've found other questions in this sub related to Pegasus hardware since the thunderbolt versions are used pretty exclusively by Apple stuff.

    Anyway so I'm hoping someone can tell me, the R6 was thunderbolt only, and had no real embedded interface that I know of. Was it's job to present to the OS nothing but raw storage? Then up to the OS to decide how to handle it? (software raid)

    Also does anyone know the FS that Pegasus used if it's not just raw storage?

    I ask because I had my R6 die. Amber button of death.. unresponsive to all of the things. So I have pulled the disks and I have them currently attached to a large workstation. My plan was to check out their Smart status with gparted, and maybe see what/if anything MDADM would tell me.

    Every disk is shown as not having a valid partition table and none of them have DM superblocks present. Which leaves me at a loss.. but no I came here to find out the above questions because I stumbled across a Promise forum post from 2015 that mentioned the Pegasus was nothing but raw storage so I am hoping to verify that.

    Freezing on black screen

    My iPhone is freezing when it goes into sleep mode! To get it on I have to reset it each time, which usually takes about 10 attempts. Anyone have any advice on how to fix this? I have an iPhone 6s. Yes, I have restarted it and spent over 5 hours in all with apple support. I am on the lastest update.

    iPod Video (2005) No Longer Recognized by MacBook (2007)?

    I still use an old iPod Video (2005ish) for my music and currently use an old Macbook (2007ish) for the music library/storage. I tried to connect the other day but could not get iTunes (or the computer, seemingly) to recognize the iPod. I believe I last updated it in Sept (so roughly 3 or 4 months back), so it worked fine until relatively recently.

    I did notice a different in iTunes, in that when I searched for a song, instead of showing the results in the playlist, it had a dropdown of options (which I disliked). I don't know if that means iTunes somehow updated. Though I don't recall having auto-updates on (but they might be) and also thought updates were no longer being made for that Macbook.

    I could try downloading software that lets you update the iPod without using iTunes, as I recall having something like that awhile back (so I know there is/was some version that's compatible with both), but would rather check if it's the computer itself or just iTunes not recognizing the iPod (and am unsure how to do so since it doesn't simply pop up like an external drive/USB would). I figured I could also try uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling an older version, but I'm unsure which version I would need to go back to as I don't recall it updating in years.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Can’t re-verify enterprise apps

    So whenever I download an enterprise app, I'm able to verify it the first time but not after a few days when it asks me to verify again, I click verify and nothing happens. It says "verifying" at the top of the screen for a split second but then goes back to normal and doesn't give me any message like "could/couldn't verify." Has this happened to anyone else?     Phone call issues

    I have an iPhone 7 and every single time I call someone it goes to voicemail, then I call again and my call goes through. I've tested this will many people and my first call never goes through. It doesn't matter the person this always happens. Any suggestions?

    iPhone 7 plus screen error/bug?

    I got a refurbished iPhone 7 Plus for christmas (it came with iOS 12.1.2) The screen goes black for less than a second 1 or 2 times without any reason (specially when I open Safari or start screen recorder). Works just fine, but it's really annoying. Anyone have any idea why this would be happening?Tried hard reset already :( Should I get technical support?

    Possible iCloud issue?

    It would be great if someone can help me help my non-tech-savvy father!

    He has a MacBook Pro and a Mac. He uses them both and likes for them to mirror each other exactly with the same files, etc. This was all working fine until a couple days ago. Now, his MacBook Pro is acting a little strange.

    They no longer seem to be mirroring each other or sharing files. When he tries to open iTunes on the MacBook, it says, "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store." When he goes to iCloud to sign in, his password is correct but it tells him, "Error connecting to the Apple ID server." He is fully connected to iTunes and iCloud on the Mac. He is connected to the internet on both machines.

    I try to help him with most basic Apple related issues, but this one has me scratching my head a bit.

    Any advice or support is really appreciated!

    Wondering if I should wait for Apple TV 6?

    I want to get an Apple TV just so I can use airplay on my projector and airplay from my phone or computer. I have an old Apple TV, one of the first generations and the resolution is horrible, not even 1080.

    Any benefit to waiting out for a new version or is the current Apple TV good enough? I saw there's a 4k and non 4k version as well as 32 and 64 GBs. I'm guessing the space is for apps?

    Is iTunes from Windows Store capable of syncing iPhones?

    I have 2 Windows 10 VMs (on Kubuntu host), one running stable Windows 10 & the other on Windows 10 fast ring. The one on fast ring has iTunes installed using the installer from Apple's website, while the other has the one from Windows Store.

    The one from Apple's website recognizes any iOS devices I plugged to it, while the one from Windows Store doesn't (the VM can see the iPhone plugged in).

    Am I right to assume that the iTunes from Windows Store can't sync iOS devices?

    How long should I dry a MacBook Pro after spilling water on it.

    Hey so my cat spilled a large cup of water on my macbook book while it was closed. I returned home and saw that it was soaked on the bottom so I immediately unplugged it and turned it off(idk how long it was wet). When I was turning it off I could tell the screen had some green water damage in the middle. In my panic I used the mouse to shut down instead of the button but It all seemed to work well. It's been drying for two days and on the first night I accidentally turned it on and the screen even looked better(green around the rim) and still no clear issues. Now that it's been two days I'm thinking of turning it on for real to assess the damage. Do you guys think it's good to go? Or Should I wait longer and/or get someone to open it and see any damage or remaining wetness. Currently just hoping the screen is the only thing damaged

The iPad will not bend to this degree without substantial force applied to it.

    Per the VMI for iPad, standard OOW paid repair options are appropriate. If you would like to make a non-technical exception for this customer, please check with your manager to be sure it would be business appropriate.

    If the previous replacements were given to the customer from Retail, they were making exceptions to the VMI based on their discretion.

    Did the customer report the bending upon first use of the iPad or did it show up after using it for some time?

    If it was an out-of-the-box issue and the customer believes this is beyond the 400 microns of deviation then we would recommend offering normal service options to have it replaced.

    Otherwise, we would consider it out-of-warranty damage and the paid repair options would apply.

    Find my Friends - Switch shared location device from iPhone to Mac.

    Is there anyway I can switch the device from which my location is shared from, which is currently my iPhone, to my Mac. Right now, I have Find my Friends widget added on my Mac and accepted my location to be shared, and can see my friends locations like I can on my iPhone, but idk how/if its possible to share my location from my Mac instead. I also know there's the option on your iPhone under "Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Share My Location > From" but my MacBook isn't showing up even though I'm using the same iCloud account?? Anyone know how to fix this??

    iPhone 8+ not receiving SMS

    iPhone 8+ Verizon iOS 12.1.2

    The phone can send and receive iMessages just fine. Group messages that are just iMessage work just fine as well. Anything involving SMS can send but not receive. We've verified group and MMS messages are turned on. We've verified "send as SMS" is turned on. We've turned these settings off and back on. It's never been connected to another iOS device to get messages. Calling works just fine. Things we've tried to fix it:

    Restart phone Reset network settings Turn WiFi calling off Turn WiFi calling back on

    With each of these we've tried sending and receiving while connected to WiFi and to cellular. Nothing changes. The phone is on a plan with several other phones, iPhone and Android. It's the only one having issues. Thanks for any help or ideas!

    Apple Support Forgot about me!!

    I'll try make it short!

    Basically:

    I live in Japan. Apple's request form has a bug and wouldn't accept my address format! (Weird since they had a dropdown menu of all Japanese prefectures...)

    At the beginning of December, requested a battery replacement. Since the Apple store is too far, so requested a Mail-in repair.

    I followed up via chat a couple of times, but they just said "7 working days"... blah blah.

    It's now January 20th.

    Luckily battery replacement is not urgent but kind of wanted to sort it out.

    Is this normal for Apple to have such terrible service? Anyone else experienced this? I thought Apple would be efficient but I was sorely mistaken!!

    I am kind of tempted to just leave the request sitting there, and see how long it takes! (Pretty sure they forgot about me though)

    MacBook Pro stuck while updating

    I have a MacBook Pro 15" that I bought in early 2018, it's got MacOS 10.13.2 on it and I was trying to update it to the newest version bc it's been saying it needs to update for a while. Anyways it's been on this screen for like an hour and I'm not sure what to do. The wheel is moving but VERY slowly like every 5 seconds. I'm on my phone and can't upload a picture for some reason but the screen is all black except for a "wheel" that's just black and white, like 3/4 down the screen. Not the spinning beach ball, more like a loading wheel. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!
