Should I be worried about the finish on gold SS? Posted: 11 Oct 2018 06:31 AM PDT I see this hinted at but never addressed directly. Apparently you can't buff out scratches because it would wear off the finish. If you took a polishing cloth to it, would it just end up silver? Would the scratches really look bad enough that it's worth not getting? I've even heard someone say that the finish might wear off on its own anyway (might just be reddit speculation). I really like the look and am close to picking one up but I'd like to know what I'm getting into. Thoughts and advice appreciated [link] [comments]
Anybody know how they will determine whether the EKG feature will be enabled? Posted: 11 Oct 2018 03:58 AM PDT So, I've read the S4 hardware is identical around the world, but only the US version will get the EKG feature enabled. I assume this will be done by only allowing US App Store customers to download the app, but anybody know for sure? Reason being, I'm considering purchasing an S4 in Singapore, but I am a US-based customer. I won't be back in the US anytime soon, though. [link] [comments]
Where's the best place to get a cheaper version of the link bracelet? Posted: 11 Oct 2018 03:55 AM PDT I love the stainless steel link bracelet but there's no way I can't justify paying £349 for it. That's almost the same price as the Watch itself! There are several similar versions of it on eBay and Amazon but I can't find anything that looks the same. I've got the Series 4 40mm, if that helps. About the Series 4 screen issue and a temporary solution. Posted: 10 Oct 2018 06:12 PM PDT I have seen many posts about this and have posted myself about this. TL, DR: the new IPTO OLED screens on series 4 have poor performance with super dark colors, almost every watch I've seen including all display models at the apple store had it and they're all different. I first noticed the issue when I used photos as my background. I love using portrait mode "stage light" effect photos I took on my iPhone as my background because the pure black background blends into the watch well. No longer with the S4... with half the pictures I notice corners lighting up in a "light leak" effect as many of you posted. Long story short: many photos don't have truly black backgrounds, just very dark grey (like 1,1,1 or 2,2,2 RGB). iPhone portrait mode "stage light" effect for some reason had the whole background doing a bit of this "graininess" as you can see if you pull it into photoshop. Solution? You can use photoshop or Affinity photos or any app you can use to select the background and make it truly black (0,0,0) and it solves the issue. Overall, it's kind of annoying that you even have to do this (older apple watches work fine) but the screen still looks pretty good in everyday use. If you're seeing this, know that it's normal. I was shooting at the range yesterday and my watch dialed emergency services Posted: 10 Oct 2018 07:00 PM PDT I was shooting at the range yesterday and my series 4 dialed emergency services in the middle of firing my weapon. Was this just a coincidence or does the watch have a feature to call emergency services if it hears gunfire? [link] [comments]
First apple watch... what are some handy things i should know Posted: 10 Oct 2018 07:04 PM PDT So i ordered my very first apple watch (2 weeks ago, estimated to take a month to deliver) what are some things that make it easier or just improve the experience overall. I already know the basics and how to use, etc. Im just wanna know if their is anything that would be nice to know [link] [comments]
Series 4 and Epilepsy. Some questions. Posted: 11 Oct 2018 07:51 AM PDT My fiancée has epilepsy that unfortunately does not have many triggers so it has been hard to predict when she will have a seizure. She recently purchased a S4 Watch because of the fall detection but is concerned about the text that says you need to fall and not move for a while. She definitely moves during her seizures and wanted to be sure that it would still call emergency services if she were to have one. Looking at some of the stories here makes me think that it will work, but I was wondering if anyone has had first hand experience with the watch and epilepsy that they could share. Thanks in advance! Posted: 11 Oct 2018 07:45 AM PDT Does anyone have this installed on their S4? It just says "no games scheduled for this period" even though the live scoring on iPhone works fine. Tried deleting. Restarted phone and watch Any ideas? [link] [comments]

S4: Cannot charge more than 62% Posted: 11 Oct 2018 07:00 AM PDT I've only had my new S4 watch for three days now (upgraded from an S2) and the first day the watch arrived almost fully charged. But now it doesn't seem to charge more than 62%. I had it on the charger overnight (having made sure that it WAS charging) and didn't check the charge level this morning before putting it on and going to work. When I got to work (an hour later) the watch showed only 56% charged. I took it off and placed it on the charger here at work and now after 3+ hours on charge, the watch is only at 62%. The watch is running 5.0.1 OS. Known problem? Defect in the watch? (It's not the charging "puck" because I have two Apple - not clone - chargers... one here and one at home.) [link] [comments]
Do you think your S4 has a defective screen? Posted: 10 Oct 2018 01:43 PM PDT Thanks to this thread, I was able to decide if my Apple Watch S4 stainless steel was faulty or not. I have owned 3 apple watches, and there is a particular watch face I like (a storm trooper) that has never been an issue. Day one of owning the s4, I noticed the upper left edge had a faint green glow at night. So reading over the thread I linked above, I decided to go for an express exchange. I did a chat through the support page on apple's web site, and attached a low light image of what my watch looked like with the test image. (The image I showed to them is linked at the bottom of this post) The chat representative immediately decided I should get a replacement, and suggested I either take it to an apple store or ship it to them for inspection. I stated that I wanted an express exchange so that I didn't have to be without my watch. Oddly the rep again suggested I ship my watch to them, and I asked "can't you express exchange if you capture my credit on a credit card?" To which she replied yes and started the express exchange. I received the watch in 2 business days, and it's a keeper. First off, I want to set some expectations of what a "good screen" should look like. The new watch still had a little uneven of an appearance on the grey test image linked above. But not nearly as severe as the first watch. Secondly, under normal use (using my stormtrooper watch face) I cannot detect a green edge. I'm seeing some pictures of watches in other threads that I think might be within acceptable limits. The test image really shows every little problem. Let's take a look at a watch I feel is clearly outside of acceptable limits and one that is IMO fine. Given the exposure level, the watch image in this post is clearly a candidate for replacement. The edges shouldn't bleed green like that. The watch in this post is normal. It might look bad to the uninitiated, but notice it's a completely different lighting situation. My new watch looks like this one does in a completely darkened room with my iPhone set to low light exposure. For more on lighting condition, here's my "bad" watch under similar lighting conditions to both watches above. imgur gallery of my uneven watch with two different exposure levels. The cloudiness in the image with a brighter exposure is not a sign of a defective screen. The fact that the left edge is significantly brighter than the right side is. The only reason I went for an exchange is because I had noticed the problem (during regular usage) on my own before I even heard about the issue on reddit. [link] [comments]
Question for those of you with the Steel Link Bracelet Posted: 11 Oct 2018 06:30 AM PDT I got a Steel Link Bracelet recently, and when I get notifications (most noticeable with phone calls) while it's hanging off my wrist in certain orientations, I can hear what I would describe as a rattling noise. I guess the vibrations are causing the links to bump into each other. Is this a common thing, or should I try to get it swapped out? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Oct 2018 06:25 AM PDT anybody else having trouble getting the dark sky app to work as a complication on a watch face? i can add the app to a face, but when active, it only displays "---" and/or the name of the app. [link] [comments]
AT&T - Free Apple Watch service for six months Posted: 11 Oct 2018 06:15 AM PDT I got the below in a text from AT&T today, I activated my new watch with them earlier this week. It looks like they are basically giving you 6 months of free cellular service for watches. I wasn't aware when I signed up, so I thought I'd share the info. AT&T Free Msg: Thanks for choosing us for your wireless service. Your recent activation of an Apple Watch means you may be eligible to receive up to $60 in credits. Keep your service active for a minimum of 30 days & until credit(s) have been applied to your account. You'll be credited within 3 bill periods. [link] [comments]

Clear Walkie Talkie icon from top of watch face Posted: 11 Oct 2018 04:40 AM PDT Does anyone know if or how I can clear the yellow walkie talkie icon from the top of the watch face where the notification red button normally is? I sent an invite to someone on the Walkie Talkie app but they haven't done anything with it because they probably don't know it's there. I just want to delete it but can't figure out how. Thanks for any tips! [link] [comments] |
