Posted: 03 Oct 2018 06:24 AM PDT I used to do it but now I'm doubting again as I'm scared there will be scratches on the display from long periods of rolling in bed and etc. Although I've recently just installed sleep watch so maybe I'll get back into it again. What about you? [link] [comments]

What was the reason for Apple dropping Series 0 support? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 08:19 AM PDT I'm currently using it with Watch OS 4 and it handles apps still quite well. Especially switching between apps is really quite fast compare to older Watch OS version. So I know it can still handle basic apps. [link] [comments]

Using Apple Watch numbers when counting calories Posted: 03 Oct 2018 07:26 AM PDT I lost 40lbs two years ago by counting calories. I used the Apple Watch to track my workout calories, and added those back into my available calories each day. My progress was steady and my maintenance for 18 months has also been managed by using these numbers, I've stayed within a 5lb range since March 2017. Partly I used this way because MyFitnessPal just wouldn't add the rest of my Move calories because the integration is buggy. As time went by and I racked up more data, I got curious about how the Move calories were calculated and added to my ring during the day. If I was truly burning them and not eating them back, I should be in a calorie deficit and losing weight, but I was not. This last week I tried a different app to track my calorie comings and goings, just because after so long I was ready for a change. It pulls in all the Move calories and adds them to my eatable calories for the day. I had to eat around this due to what I knew to be true, and decided to lay out the numbers and see what the difference really was for one week. My exercise calories for the week came to 2902 and my move calories came to 5291. That's a difference of 2389. A calorie surplus of 3500 would add a pound of weight in a perfectly controlled situation. That's a significant difference, especially for someone who doesn't have a lot of weight to lose or is trying to maintain. This all begs the question, what is the point of this Move number and what does it actually signify? Has anyone had the opposite experience? I try to log my food faithfully but nobody could be 100% accurate, but I'm sure I'm not hundreds off every day to account for the gap. Also I know I am a sample size of one, but the correlation is on the nose. Eat exercise cals only, maintain, eat move cals, I would gain. Anybody have any thoughts or opinions or actual facts about the Move ring that may shed light on anything? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Oct 2018 05:01 AM PDT I like having "someone" I can talk to on my watch, lark is cool. I love how it asks you how you feel and let's you reflect and stuff. Anything similar to this also worth checking out? [link] [comments]
Not tracking exercise for weight lifting Posted: 03 Oct 2018 08:41 AM PDT I have a series 4 watch and have noticed that it doesn't seem to notice my exercising at all when I'm lifting weights. Today I was working out and it auto detected my elliptical workout and recorded 12 mins of that but immediately after I lifted weights for at least 30 mins and my exercise ring didn't ever get past 12 mins as if it didn't know I'm working out. Does anyone else have this issue? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 08:41 AM PDT Just picked up the new S4 last week. After reading multiple posts on people getting a weekend worth of battery, I turned off both wifi and workout detection. I'm still losing 5% is 2 hours with little to no use. Is this normal? [link] [comments]
What's next in store for the Apple Watch? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 08:22 AM PDT Other than marginal improvements to processing power and battery, is there anything else you see getting added to next year's iteration? [link] [comments]
3rd Party Complications not appearing Posted: 03 Oct 2018 08:05 AM PDT Hey guys I just picked up my S4 Apple Watch yesterday. I'm trying to install 3rd party complications to my watch face, and I'm just wondering if I'm missing something. My apps appear in the complications menu and I have them enabled, but when I try to customize my watch face with the complications, through either the app or manually on the watch, none of them appear? Any suggestions? Maybe I'm just missing a step or something. [link] [comments]
Pre-purchase questions, another running/biking person Posted: 03 Oct 2018 07:53 AM PDT Hi there. I've gotten a lot of my questions answered by reading earlier posts (thanks!), but I have a few left. I'm looking at the AW4 GPS + Cellular version. I currently have a Garmin Forerunner 235 but because of its sportiness, I kind of only wear it weekends and during workouts, so my overall data makes no sense (crazy exertion on the weekend, zero steps many weekdays?). In workout apps (yes, I've been reading about WorkOutDoors, but I'm also a Strava user), is the screen always on? The main feature I use is checking my running pace—I am not good at consistent pacing without that feedback. I really want to be able to peek at my pace without fiddling with buttons to wake up the watch. Should I pay $200 extra for stainless steel given that I do care about a sophisticated appearance but also have never broken or scratched a device? Is it easy to change the straps? Like if I used a sport band for a morning run and watched to switch to a leather one for the workday? If I get the gold will I be annoyed that the lugs don't match? Can you actually place phone calls from the watch without headphones? I don't listen to music when I run, so don't carry my phone, but I do run alone, and also was recently the second person on the scene of a serious car crash. An eye-opener. I don't want to chat… just, could I call 911 in a pinch and, like, yell at my watch? Similarly, can you actually use Lyft/Uber? (What if I twisted my knee again or my bike broke down far from home…) Would parts of WorkOutDoors stop working if I was running outside the US (I have T-Mobile) and didn't bring my phone? Do workouts kill the battery? I run up to two hours at a time. Just out of curiosity, is there any complication that does civil sunrise/sunset? (This is what I care about for running.) I think all the other things I'm interested in have been covered: mile splits, steps, distance, heart rate, syncing to Strava, mail/texts, weather, etc. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 07:51 AM PDT Has this happened to anyone else? I have a 1st generation watch which doesn't get the watchOS 5 update. Now that the Overcast app has updated for watchOS 5 it's completely disappeared from my watch. All my other apps have just remained at the highest OS 4 update which is what I expected, except for Overcast which of course is the app I use the most on my watch by far. Is there any way to get back the old version or am I just screwed? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 07:50 AM PDT I have an Apple Watch (series 3) with cellular, an iPhone X, and a Ubiquiti UAP-AC-PRO access point. If I leave my phone inside, and then connect to my air pods from the watch and go outside it might stream audio for a few minutes/seconds and then it will stop and restart, etc, etc. I think the watch is struggling to stay connected to my iPhone (and my wifi) but it won't switch to cellular. Does anybody else have this problem? I can turn off wifi on my watch, but I think it will still try to connect to the iPhone using Bluetooth which won't maintain a good signal either because the phone is inside the house. Basically I just want to force the watch to use cellular because it's the only reliable signal when I go outside into the backyard, etc. [link] [comments]
Not all songs in synced playlist on watch - “About” section on iPhone app has correct song count Posted: 03 Oct 2018 07:19 AM PDT iPhone 8 running current iOS and Apple Watch series 3 running current OS. I've had issues post update that included songs disappearing and other apps not working correctly. I've fixed the apps, but am still having some issues with the music. I have a playlist of 136 songs that is the only playlist that I have synced. It is downloaded on the iPhone. I removed and readded the playlist to the watch and let it sync overnight. Today, if I open the music app on the watch, roughly 30 songs are missing, but the "About" page on the iPhone watch app states 136 songs are on the phone. Any help would be appreciated.
