Apple TV 4K - Worthy Investment? Posted: 09 Oct 2018 02:36 PM PDT Hi all - I've been keeping an eye on this subreddit for some time while I try to figure out if it's worth investing in an Apple TV. I see a lot of complaints from users on here, which is why I thought I'd ask for people's overall experiences. Right now I have a Samsung Smart TV and Sonos Beam that work together great. Yep, the apps on the TV are slow but they work - I wonder how much quicker those on an Apple TV can be. I'm also worried about sound issues with the Beam based on a few threads. What I really want to use the Apple TV for is a screen mirroring option for my iPad, a HomeKit Hub and a central repository for my movie collection (stored in iCloud / iTunes and steamed through the device). Would people say it's worth £179 for those capabilities? I'm not sure there is anything out there that would do the job as elegantly as an Apple device. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Best IPTV-App and best Signing-Service for Apple TV4 Posted: 10 Oct 2018 02:28 AM PDT Hey, i search for the best IPTV-APP which supports M3U and a Good Signing-Service. Both for the Apple TV4. [link] [comments]
Do any of you guys notice a terrible “dirty screen” effect when streaming stuff on Netflix? Posted: 09 Oct 2018 04:38 PM PDT I hope this makes sense. I am asking because I'm not sure if I need to take my Apple TV to the genius bar to have it looked at. I got my Apple TV 4K in December and everything was fine until about April. I noticed the image when watching the Office looked pixelated and/or dirty (for lack of a better word). I thought it was just my internet connection because I had been having trouble with my internet for a while. The cable guy came out and fixed something at the pole. My internet was back to working great but the video on Netflix still looked awful, but not all the time. Some content has it, some does not. So I decided to wait for an update to the app because I just thought it was a bug. It's been months now and it still has this issue. It is only the netflix app that has this problem. But, not all movies/TV shows have this problem. I'd say about 50% do and 50% do not. The worst case I ever saw was when watching the Netflix movie called "Anon". My PS4 and LG TV app do not have this problem. If any of you would like to test this, try "Anon" at about 39:50. [link] [comments]
YouTube subscriptions not loading... Posted: 09 Oct 2018 10:55 AM PDT For the past few days I just get a spinning wheel when going to the subscription tab... I have tried signing out, deleting the app and reinstalling, and even rebooting the Apple TV... Running everything up to date, gen4 ATV... Everything else about the app is working fine, I can even search for channels I subscribe to and play videos... Anyone else seen this, have any ideas? [link] [comments]
Outbound network connections from Apple TV Posted: 09 Oct 2018 10:53 AM PDT I'm trying to tighten up my local network's security, and it's got me poring over all of the various devices to determine their network behavior. The device with the most connections, by far, is Apple TV. It has over 40 active connections... mostly to Akamai (CDN) servers, though a handful go to Amazon and a couple directly to Apple. Does anyone have an idea why Apple TV would need dozens of concurrent HTTPS connections to cloud services? I've got a few apps installed on my Apple TV, but these connections persist even when no one is actively watching a program. (I use a Photo Stream screen saver, which presumably needs a connection or two, when the TV is idle.) [link] [comments]
My WiFi shuts down (often) when connecting devices to airplay. Solution? Posted: 09 Oct 2018 03:48 PM PDT Anybody else has this problem? It happens both on my Apple TV and when using my Sonos speakers through airplay. Sometimes it works for some time, other times it happens as soon as I connect a device and play something through airplay. What is strange is that the entire WiFi network seems to drop out, other devices not related to airplay loses internet connection. I imagine I need to do something in my router settings, but not sure how to fix this... My router is 5 years old or so, Cisco Linksys e3200 It has 802.11n and dualband 2,4/5 GHz My internet speed 50 Mb/s [link] [comments]
ATV 3rd gen keeps disconnecting/turning off Posted: 09 Oct 2018 06:43 PM PDT This recently started happening, I'm not too sure whats going on. I mainly use my ATV for youtube, netflix, and airplay. Im watching youtube, all of the sudden it disconnects and turns off, my tv shows the "no signal" sign. Then the ATV turn back on and takes me to the "iTunes store sign-in" screen. I don't use iTunes on my atv or in general for media purchases. Anyone have any idea what could be going on? Its starting to get kind of annoying now. [link] [comments]
Screensaver of latest photos taken via iCloud? Posted: 09 Oct 2018 02:49 PM PDT Hello, Is there a way to make Apple TV show the latest photos taken from a iPhone via iCloud? Or do you need to designate a specific album? Can you automatically add photos taken into a specific album? [link] [comments]
Only volume buttons work on remote Posted: 09 Oct 2018 08:00 AM PDT My Apple TV 4 remote stopped working, except for the volume buttons. I can control the ATV4 fine using the remote app on my iPhone. Obviously it's not the battery in the remote. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Tubi integration with TV app issue Posted: 08 Oct 2018 11:23 PM PDT Just noticed an issue with Tubi and the TV app. Haven't had a problem before. Tubi is turned on and connected to TV app in Settings but -
Apparently the Tubi app can send some info to the TV app but the TV app behaves like it doesn't even know Tubi exists. Anyone else have similar issues? [link] [comments]
