MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013 13". Damaged screen? Posted: 09 Oct 2018 11:43 PM PDT I was working on my macbook and suddenly lines started to appear on the display. They appeared gradually, you know, like a reveal transition. i restarted the mac, and the same thing. I know it is the screen, I can use it in clamshell mode just fine, but I don't understand why this has happened. I have not dropped or damaged my mac recently. Last time I dropped it was 6 months ago, but it worked fine after that except for discoloration at the top of the display. I am a student and I need a laptop for school. I don't have enough money right now to buy a new one or get a new screen. Is there anything that I can do at home to fix this? Maybe a loose display cable? Thanks in advance Images: [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Oct 2018 11:33 PM PDT I was wondering if folks here have anything to say or can offer some advice on dealing with what is most likely a systemic issue with the new macbook pro's. I purchased a brand new macbook pro for my daughter in mid September who is a final year graphic design student and needs a machine with the capabilities to run multiple creative suite programs and hopefully that would serve her well for many years to come. So I didn't mess around and got the top of the line Touch Bar and Touch ID Anyway, two days into getting it home and loading it up, it freezes multiple times on her. Trackpad is dead, cursor is gone and the machine is completely unresponsive. Only way to get back was to to do a hard restart. I was a little perplexed but didn't research it immediately. It happens several times again so she made an appointment at the genius bar to get it looked at and gets there on the last day when she could return it. The genius checks it out and can't find anything specifically wrong with it but while he's playing around on it, it freezes up. They offer to replace it with a brand new machine so she takes them up on it and brings that one home, just yesterday. She has plugged no other peripheral devices into this new machine and hasn't transferred any files from the last machine. And now this machine is also freezing. Its happened twice and she is not running anywhere a large number of apps. We're talking indesign and google chrome. I start doing some research into this and find that quite a number of others are experiencing the same thing and that there may be some type of hardware issue. This computer should be able to handle plenty of user activity with memory to spare and crashes shouldn't be happening. Do I return this machine for a replacement and hope for the third time being the charm? Do I wait for some software update? What would you do in this situation? I'm kind of thinking of getting my money back and giving her old machine from 2015 back since that had little to no issues. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Oct 2018 11:29 PM PDT May be too little information... I went to get my macbook pro 2016 13 inch no touch bar checked since the display only works when the screen is at certain angles. Usually screen angles less than 90˚ relative to the keyboard has a working display. I was told that it had something to do with the inverter cable and it would cost $600 to fix. Is that accurate? It was not at the genius bar, but it was a place that the apple support operator sent me to. [link] [comments]
How do I change time on my Macbook? Posted: 09 Oct 2018 04:21 PM PDT Hi, I am living in NSW, Australia and my Macbook has not updated its time to match daylight savings. I don't see an option to manually change the clock. Does anyone have any input on this? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Latest gen 2GHz i5 MBP users, how has your experience been with it thus far? Posted: 09 Oct 2018 07:53 PM PDT What apps do you use, battery life, etc? RAM config? How many years of use do you expect to get out of it? Do you regret your purchase in hindsight for any reason? [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 Oct 2018 04:45 PM PDT I use messages on my mac all the time when I'm away from my phone for whatever reason & I'd always drag and drop images from Chrome straight to the messages window just send them quickly. Ever since I downloaded Mojave I haven't been able to do this. Any reason because I can't think of one [link] [comments]

Problem with Mojave, previews not showing Posted: 09 Oct 2018 10:47 AM PDT As said in the title, since I upgraded to mojave my macbook pro I can't see any preview of the files (images, videos, text...) but just the icon that indicates the type of the file (jpg, mp4, txt...). It's like this everywhere: finder, desktop, exetrnal hard drives... Is there something I can do or do I have to wait until there is an upgrade of the whole system? [link] [comments]
