Foil peeling off on side vents under 2018 Macbook Pro

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 06:18 AM PDT

I picked up a 13" 2018 Macbook Pro not too long ago and noticed a foil peeling off inside the side vent under the laptop. It seems to almost be more surface area than what would have been needed to cover that lip which I found weird. Anyone know what this is or what may have caused it?

Looking for a good 10'+ (3-4m) USB C cable that can fast charge a laptop. Has anyone had experience with the Monoprice USB C cables?

Trying to find a Mac-compatible scanner for scanning in illustrations (eventually to be edited in photoshop). Anyone got a favorite, that's semi-affordable?

Sd card reader nonfunctional, tried everything including external USB sd reader, no luck~2012 mbp

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 06:19 PM PDT

Just wanted to come here and take a final shot. I have tried every option I could find online with no avail. My last ditch effort was with the external sd reader, but the computer simply will not read the sd. I did get confirmation that the USB reader was working, but the card was not being read. Any last last ditch options are greatly appreciated.

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 10:11 AM PDT

Hey so I was outside in the rain with my laptop open, I went inside to play a game and mid round my w,s and escape key all stopped working, I've popped the key off and nothing seems too bad, I've heard stories of people spilling cups of liquid on this mac and the keys being fine, anyone got any advice since I'm kinda freaking out.

I have an old 2009 macbook pro and I want to install a less resource hungry OS on it, like freeBSD. I know that's possible but can I install macos again later?

    HELP GUYYYSSS

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 08:00 AM PDT

So i recently got my macbook pro (13inch i7 with 16gb RAM, without a touch bar ) for music production purposes.

But for some reason it gets heated up with even the slightest of tasks like utorrent , Ableton ,etc.

Fan doesn't usually kick in but once the fan started making a lot of noise too!

I was under the impression that this would be a very good and fast computer. Can anybody please help me with this issue? I am new to Macs and have never used any before. I was using only Windows computers before this

    macOS Mojave upgrade???

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 06:12 AM PDT

Hi, I have not updated to Mojave yet on my main machine that I use for video editing (Final Cut Pro) because I don't want to mess anything up and I want everything to work like it should.

Currently on 10.13.6, last year I downgraded from High Sierra because I had loads of issues with it then when my MacBook Pro refused to boot I had to do a fresh install and it got upgraded (MBP 15 Inch Mid 2014 2.2GHz) and even though I have tried the first couple of Mojave Dev betas i downgraded again because things were crashing like Final Cut Pro but now were on the final release so have you upgraded and what experiences have you had?

Is it even worth upgrading if High Sierra slowed my MBP down? I got my MBP in December 2014 (Christmas) and it came with Yosemite and I have upgraded every year on release day to the new Operating System and that model originally shipped with Mavericks and I'm thinking that Mojave could be the last supported Operating System on these Haswell machines (2013, 2014 and 2015) but I also doubt that because then the 2016s and above would only be supported and Mojave is supported from the mid 2012 models. It would be it's 6th OS version and MacBooks normally get cut off after that.

Should I upgrade or maybe wait till 10.14.1 or 10.14.2 or just do a fresh install which I don't want to do for various reasons? High Sierra is running ok at the moment and Sierra ran ok but I know High Sierra was bad till 10.13.2.

why does bootcamp never go to sleep mode when i press "sleep mode" or close the lid?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 01:19 AM PDT

i noticed this on my old 2010, 2013, and now brand new 2018 15" macbook pro with windows 10 installed. if i close the lid or turn to sleep mode through the power button, it doesnt actually go to sleep. it randomly wakes during the night, and drains my battery. today i opened the mac to 5% battery when it was at full charge the night before. i noticed that i have to tick "hibernate" mode in order for it to actually sleep. is this a glitch? i cant seem to find anything about it on the internet but its been a recurring problem for me across multiple laptops...
